As much as i agree with you all, it's no use beating a dead horse. This game will have some success on PS3 for sure (because there it's the only game of it's genre and many console only gamers will probably think that this is what is normal in MMOs) but not for long and will struggle to be profitable in a year and then die. Well it's already dead, but there are always "enthusiasts" who gladly pay for tedium as long as it has a certain name or chocobos in it. However It would be better for the Industry if this game would hit the ground fast and hard because other developer actually put effort in their games and crap like FF XIV just unecessarily shaves away possible market shares.
I seriously heart you dude :P My feelings exactly.

I play a lot of MMOs and I've NEVER played from at launch that was "finished" or has full content for later levels 2 WEEKS after launch.
If your plan was to only sub 1 month, wait for a miracle or quit, then im sorry sir but you wasted like $90 and time. I suggest in the future you keep an open mind about gaming. Especially on new release MMOs otherwise you have a long future of forum flaming and MMO bashing to look forward to.
I agree with this because many games Aion AoC War were not at all ready at launch but have redeemed themselves months after. Some will still play but some will leave and look for another mmo while the polishing is being done on this game. Its all about past prior knowledge bro.
The content starts at Rank 20. Thats where class specific quests start, the Adventuring Companion, Guild Marks, Faction Guildleves and Parley. Everything starts to open around Rank 20.
There are no empty zones, locked areas have to be unlocked through the story. Same with the chocobos.
How do you know chocobos are not in the game? In FFXI you needed to be a certain level and do a quest to be able to use a chocobo. Same for airships.
You don't know shit about the game and yet feel the need to make a post with no factual information. All i see are speculation and lies.
What does, "I could of waited" even mean? Did you mean to say that "you could have waited"?
The point of the thread was saying the game was released early and imcomplete and unless Square fixes it up, people will lose interest and FF fans / casuals will leave the fray. Go and real the FFXIVcore.com forums, there are alot of posters in the 25-30 area and are still killing level 25 mobs and getting 20experience a mob, while needing over 100,000 to level. It could be the fatigue system in play, but alot of the higher level player have explored some zones, and they are locked off, or empty. Chocobos are proven to not be implemented yet by Square, I cannot find the info but Square did say it.
Also saying I know nothing about the game, your opinion. My post contains information i've read on the lodestone, on FFXIVcore and FF ZAM as well as here. I'm not going to put links to references to every sentence just for you, get over yourself.
the FFXIV forums, where less than 1% of the games population exists, where the hardcore enthuasiast that has spent 12-16 hours a day for the last 2 weeks leveling, is now well over half the level cap and is complaning that they cant rush the rest of it? brilliant, I guess the game should cater purely to them. they have pleanty else to level or to prepare for, but i guess that golden number by your rank is all that matters right? until its pointlessly maxxed?
Yes, the content isnt there, and judging by the interviews along with the whole casual and fatigue approach, they are limiting it INTENTIONALLY, all it takes is a few MB patch to unlock whatever is designed for lvl30-40. but as it seems they are waiting for more people to approach that area before doing so.
Yes they are controlling the content, in which 99% of us are not even at yet. but then you cant please every whiner in these forums... some will complain that the grind is too hard (even though pre-20 its a complete and utter joke) some will complain that time is too much of an advantage, and now people are complaining coz they cant steamrole through the game by playing 16 hours a day.
Lose Lose, I see all this whining, im approaching rank 20 in 2 classes (1 gathering, 1 gladiator) and for all we know within the next week or 2 itl be unlocked and the majority of us wouldnt have given a damn. but hey, cater to that 1% right? coz that should be the priority over the many things that need fixing....
It seems like as long as they cater to you all is well in the world and you are a blessed person.
If they cater to other people and discrepancies show up ... those people suck?!
Hyprocisy? thats what all the whiners on these boards are doing.... im going with the flow. I could of grinded gladiator to 25, but I know the content isnt there so im preparing in other ways, because I see more to an MMO than rushing a godamn number to sit on an invisable thrown.
Where in my post did I say purely my look? there are many things imperfect about this game. but whining about not being able to get to the level cap in 2 weeks is freaking ridiculous.
But yea... what a double standard, what a pointless response.
Releasing a game with 50 levels but only content for half only supports the OP's argument.
You could have waited til 2011? Well, no offense, but why didn't you? Was the SE Yakuza blackmailing everyone, forcing everyone to play at launch. What with the open beta and all the coverage this game has gotten, the current state can't have been a surprise to anyone who was paying attention. Despite what the trolls will claim, FFXIVs release state is not at all out of line for a typical big title mmo launch. Perfomancewise, it has been smoother than most.
"Too early" is always going to be a matter of opinion. For myself and many others, we would much rather be playing now, warts and all, than wait 6 months for a potentially more polished game. If you are someone who feels otherwise, fine, but as has been stated many times, the only way this will ever change is if you and others that feel like you start voting with your wallet. Rushing right out and shelling out for the box, then complaining on the forums when the game doesnt meet your expectations, is going to accomplish exactly zilch!
Personally, I really don't get it. Wouldn't you have been much better off letting all the "fanboys" pay to finish the beta test for you? Eventually, the game will be improved to your satisfaction, or it will fail, and you can gloat about how SE never got any of your money.
One of the smartest most logical posts on this board.
Severwise the game has been one of the smoothest, the might WoW's first month was nothing but a lag out... and while server stability is a big issue SE has already done that and is already underway on improving the core, hell we are getting better orginized market wards this week, possible other things along with it.
I would rather be playing this WORKING game now, considering we are lucky to get it this early, since the originally idea was to release both versions together. less congestion, less problems.
That being said, like any other MMO board, the whiners that label people "fanboys" for liking the current state of the game or at least seeing it as playable/enjoyable should seriously stop being in denial, realize this games direction isnt for you, go back to whatever MMO you came from... OH WAIT, your not doubt bored of WoW clones like the rest of us...
People whining about the grind just dont enjoy anything but an endgame, or cba to do it multiple times, and again, are in denial and should go back to whatever endgame mmo they came from.
Kashuan has crashed at least once a day. The lag to go through half of the menus are 2-4 seconds and others(some crafting menus and selling) take 3-7 seconds. There is "content"(grind) for only half the levels.

Oh man, this is hilarious. You honestly think this game is going to die in a year? Oh-ho-ho. You are the reason I just registered, and people LIKE you are the reason the people who aren't narrow-minded will continue to play and enjoy this game. Go back to WoW, i heard you can make a tauren paladin now.
Also, coming from a retail standpoint, the customer is most definitely not 'king.' That's just a fruity phrase that some snubbed-ass person came up with after not getting their way. There's always going to be rules.

It's just as narrow-minded to assume he must be a WoW-player. It's borderline offensive too.
And yes, the customer IS king. King by being able to say: "Screw this, I'm not gonna pay for it anymore".
It's just as narrow-minded to assume he must be a WoW-player. It's borderline offensive too.
Well i'm not so easily offended. People who in all honesty believe that FF XIV is more "complex" than wow because it's more tedious are hopleless anyway. WoW can afford to be convenient because there is an enormous amount of content in there. The opposite is true for FF XIV. If that game had a decent pace people would realize after one week, that there is practically no content to speak of. And SE surely can't allow this. On a side note: In my experience most people who think that wow is "easy mode" never made it past lv. 20 anyway, let alone raidcontent oder higher tier pvp. Luckily, Blizzard couldn't care less.

No content = warts?
hmm, ok.
Define content? Ive been playing for a good 60-80-100 (who knows) hours now and I havnt stopped doing things... fed ex quests is content i guess?
Eh? I allready replied to you in a previous post about this. Did you allready forget?
Reminder: Some people play in a different way then you and get confronted by this issue of content shortage.
(And again you get offensive!)
But your under some kind of mindset that a product strictly has to appeal to everyone? and an MMO right out the door? I go back to my "Naive" comment, your asking for a game fresh out on a very modern and expensive engine to feature everything games from years ago have right off the bat? its just unrealistic.
If I made that impression to you I'm sorry, but that is not how I feel.
I'm very aware a game can't appease everyone and if by somekind of miracle it does, I think it would be a very bland experience.
About the content I agree a newly released game can't provide content in the same league as games that allready exist for over 2 years, BUT a content cap of lvl 20ish (for whatever reason!) when there are only +-50 levels seems a bit short on the money imo.
I stick to my opinion the game was released to fast, and while some players rather play now with the shortcomings and perform somekind of payed beta, I think this early release will scare off a lot of potential buyers. First impressions count and it's hard for a game to shed negative connotations.
It's just as narrow-minded to assume he must be a WoW-player. It's borderline offensive too.

I my book if someone pulls the wow card in a discussion he allready lost.
Figured i would comment since everyone else has with nothing real useful to say. You dont like FFXIV we get it move on. Jeez and im at work befor the Why arent you off playing it the game bull @*$* starts. I have time to defend it. you could have waited but you dont have to so go play it. And another thing No game in the past has launched and pleased any of you people your just way to picky a MMO is always a work in-progress so A) play or move the F&@# on

Though it doesn't really matter, I actually got past level 20. I had done BT/Hyjal when that was out and destroyed the content in WotLK up to ulduar, when I sold my acct. Pointless story, but your logic is flawed. WoW is so painfully easy it's not even fun. Everything you get is practically for free and has a usefulness limit of about 4 months. While it is easier, comparing WoW to FFXIV in any other way is inane, because the games are so vastly different.

The point was not how WoW is more complex or less complex, or it's difficulty, it's about you stereotyping a poster just because he feels different about certain things.
If anything, it is you who is the WoW player. Your attitude sure fits the profile. See what I did there?
But we digress from the topic. let's try and not get this one locked (as well).

Well I am certainly happy you get it, those new to the game may not and end up dumping a ton of money into a game that is...well, others glamorize to a point of fanboism of new levels that appears to exceed any other game. In short my freind, information saves money which is why others read about the game and attempt to sort out fact from fiction. Now move along, nothing to see here.

You know, you always can wait until 2011. SE is huge and there's zero danger the game will fold in 6 months or so.
You haven't paid a sub fee yet.
It's pretty simple really. Vote with your wallet. If you don't think the game is finished, wait to pay until it is.

Anyhoo, SE really should take a good look at how SOE delayed DCUO till 2011. They could learn something from that.
Highly doubt it.

If this game was named something else and not Final Fantasy XIV, would people who praise it still praise it?
