    Final Fantasy 14

I'm just giving them time to get ready.

Guild Wars 2 now mostly. The seeing looks nice and I've liked all of the features discussed so far. I think it will be more instanced than people realize, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

    GW2

In that order. But...that's not the order they will be released, that's pretty sure (other than GW2 being first).

Guild Wars 2 as for now, maybe Warhammer 40k later on when more info is released but untill then just gw2.

  • HitechLolifeHitechLolife Member Posts: 210

DCUO is the only one I'm really following but I'll probably try out SWTOR. GW2 is a given buy even if I barely play it for a year or so.

There was a time I'd be following every new release thinking that there was hope for my next big game. So jaded after so many years of suck ><

    The OP vanished....

    O.o

And just when I was thinking we needed to start considering an MMORPG.com Guild for GW2.  I think it would be a lot more fun to actually PLAY a game with all of you guys than for us to sit around and bitch about games...LOL! =D  I don't know....color me fatally optimistic. :P

Sorry for the off topic post.

    On topic:

I see a LOT of GW2, Rift, and SWTOR and a pretty fair number of TERAs and TSWs too....groovy. :)  Some WoDs and Earthrises.....good variety of possibilities for wins and fails this next year, no? :)

Some upcoming MMORPGs I'm looking forward to are:

Guild Wars 2: The videos I've seen of the combat in this game really sparked my interest. Hearing they are not doing the tank/healer/dps mechanic is something I've been wanting for a while now. I have Guild Wars, I didn't like the game but I liked a lot of things about it. I thought the classes were actually fun and had some really nice abilities. I liked that you could instantly roll a PVP only character at max level. Brilliant. I enjoyed the regular PVP progressing through the game as well. I have not read much about Guild Wars 2 but it's hard not to run into someone mentioning it in a post. I will read up on it here soon.

Rift: Planes of Telara: The rifts and souls system seems interesting. The official website's information on the factions and classes have me really interested in this game from a lore perspective. I like what little bit I've read and look forward to finding out more about the world through the games quests. The character models, planes, and dungeons I've seen are beautiful. Very nice looking game.

Forsaken World:  This game looks very well designed. It has some pretty nice features that are not anything revolutionary (and the game doesn't seem to be in regards to mechanics and graphical style either). It's free to play but it doesn't look like absolute garbage. I'm impressed with how much better some of these free to play games are starting to look. I think Allod's was the first one to really make me reconsider my thoughts on free to play games. I didn't like Allods for several reasons but the amount of polish and effort they put into it impressed me.

All of the games I've listed are the ones I'm most interested in playing. I'm sure I'll end up buying all the mmorpg releases just to check them out. I don't like to have high expectations for games and prefer to let them surprise me. I think I've bought almost every I-can-find-it-in-a-store p2p game post Burning Crusade. I'm not really looking for a new mmorpg to take the place the ones I'm playing now but looking forward to trying out some new games. I think I'm as bad with MMORPGs as I am with console games. I'm always wanting to try a new one out. I have found plenty MMOs that I enjoyed playing and the ones that I have decided "Okay this is my game." I've stuck with for years. This upcoming year really looks promising though. Here's hoping we all find something we like.

Yeah, Forsaken World is a woozie. Not one of those garbage games. I will definitely try the game. Right now, I am playing Aika Global which is also a new release (used to be AIKA Na until they started blocking other countries). AikaGglobal and Forsaken World are two of the best MMO's that I would really recommend to players. They are definitely not one of those trashy free to play games out there. The developers obviously had the "players' satisfaction" in mind when they are doing it and it's cool coz few years ago, free to play games are injury to the eyes. Guess, we're the lucky generation. We get spoiled with all the rad free to play games out there, we just need to know which game will fit our needs. In this case, Forsaken World and Aika Global are on top for me.

Honestly? Nothing. I think everything is going to end up being a shallow piece of crap that isn't worth the money you put into it. The way MMO's have developed they're really not something I'm likely to be interested in anymore. If I had to pick something I'd be interested in taking a look at, I'd probably say Rift, Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars: The Old Republic. I'm pretty sure all of them are going to be found severely lacking, but those look the best of the bunch so far.

On the other hand, World of Darkness might be awesome, but that's way way way from release.

Would you enlighten us on your reasons why you think all three of the mainstrem MMOs are going to fail?

I'm personally looking very much forward to GW2, since its the only MMO bringing any real innovations. I would be excited about SWTOR but we've heard very little of the game except that there's a lot of voice over and the devs want you to reroll as much as possible.
