So what IP would you love to see become the next major MMO, but are pretty sure won't?
I personally would love to see a Robotech/Macross MMO.
I've always enjoyed the lore in that series and would be really happy to see a MMO set in that world. What fan wouldn't want to be a Veritech pilot or a Zentradi warrior.
Seeing how the IP is pretty old and not very popular anymore. I imagine it'll never find itself to MMO status.

Fun topic
I would love to see a Mass Effect MMO.....
Doubt it will ever happen with Bioware focusing on SWTOR tho.
Uhh... what?
A true to the source Shadowrun would be excellent. Maybe in 10 years we'll have the computer power to simulate a living, breathing cityscape.
Oh yeah! I bet Shadow Run could make a great MMO if some real thought was put into it.
I'm all for any game that manages to emphasis skills like hacking. I've yet to play an MMO where something like that was relevant to every day game play.
Though it'd be Street Samurai all the way for me.
Oh, I've not really played any of the mass effect games, but I've heard they're great. What would make that a cool MMO we'll probably never see?
Wing Commander Privateer or Microsofts Freelancer
TSR's Alternity Star*Drive setting (I think a lot will have to google this one ;-). Too bad WotC dropped this excellent setting when they bougth TSR in favour of SW in a D20 setting. Alternity was far more superior, both as system and as setting :'(
Bladerunner
The combat is AMAZING. Combines a mix of FPS and RPG elemtns to be a great third person shooter.
Already has many, unique classes
Very rich lore and background story.
I absolutely love the Mass Effect Sci-fi setting. Many games do have sci-fi, but Mass Effect's felt different. Almost realistic i guess.
Due to the combat style, it would require more skill than current MMO's.
Idk, you should probably just pick up a copy and try the game :-) then you will see what i am refering too.
I think i saw it on sale for like $12? Gogamer.com or something
Uhh... what?
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
"A Song of Ice and Fire" or "The Witcher"
Off topic, but...
Did you know that HBO is going to have a series based on George R.R. Martin's books? I have rarely felt more anticipation than I do for that series.
Shadowrun for me.
3rd How funny, just finished watching Bladerunner like an hour ago. mmmmm Rachael
d&d chronopia
its like aswedish version of paper and pen "dungeon and dragons" but set in a huge steam punk city. loved to play it as a kid.
edit: spoiler. deckard is a android!

Deus Ex
Yes I've been eagerly awaiting it's premiere, I'll be ordering HBO just to watch it.
Stargate, love that show, shame the MMO for it got canned. So much potential for exploration, factions, enemies, deaths...
What is Halo.
I said a few years back the KOTOR would make a good MMO. And before that Warcraft. So my track record is pretty good thus far.
And some kind of Total War mmo.
I don't care about innovation I care about fun.
Firefly, space mmorpg.
As an addition to Bladerunner, i'll add Paranoia and Stormbringer.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
Shadowrun
EvE kinda looks like firefly. Thats what I thought when I played it.
I don't care about innovation I care about fun.
Farscape universe was facinating, would love to see a game made as long as they actually let people play something other than pure humanoids.

Might and Magic, sandbox style, with Dark Messiah's combat system. Would be cool to innovate an NPC recruitment system too, where they actually do stuff like cook, pathfind, etc as well as help you out in combat. Imagine players running around or fighting over an NPC they want to recruit LOL. Don't know how they would fit a "one side vs the other vs maybe another" pvp system though
How about a Mad Magezine MMORPG that made fun of all other MMO's. They could have each continent dedicated to harping each of all the MMO's that've come before it. And the game would have space play also to make fun of those MMO types, like Star Trek or E.V.E., etc...
And PvP will take place in the Spy vs. Spy world and would not only use all available skills, but the option of various environmental and unlockable traps. Is this a harmless umbrella or a skud missle Hunter cannon, Hmmm!?
Leveling would be backwards; start at level 80 and work your way to 1, because we all want to be #1. New expansions would make us go into the negatives.
I can see it now:
- Pogo stick mounts
- The World of Wankcraft continent would be huge.
- The Lord of The Rinks continent would be one large skating rink. Going down mountains would be a blast. Working your way up them would be hardcore.
- Instead of killing x number of boars for people, we would kill x number of people for the boars.
This could go on forever, and don't even get me started on the player created stuff!
Gutlard Out!
What, me worry?
Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time or maybe even the old PnP Palladium Fantasy RPG.
For a non-fantasy game how about Road Hogs? Gotta love a post apocolyptic Road warrior style game with mutant animals, and yes it was PnP game from Palladium.
Highlander, modern or near future setting with perma-death.
Make people gain levels by doing quest killing npcs type crap but also have them gain levels by pvp. You take the head of a fellow player and there level is added to yours. Yes this would make crazy hard pvp but, that is sort of hour it is in Highlander. Levels would be used to increase stats like STR, DEX, INT, WIS, CON, CHA (to use the default D&D ones as example) Also only way skills would be raised is by training or taking the head of another, see below.
I would also want some sandbox? UO type things to it. What I mean by this it would be cool to see you be able to train on dummies etc in a martial arts studio etc depending on your weapon type and combat style and gain skillsthat way. Instead of having class types have weapon skills. The game could techincally throw in spell usages such as the old chinese guy in Highlander 3, if needed to give people a variety. This too though would be done in skills.
Explaination of Quickenings
During PVP would the main time for Quickenings. When one player takes the head of another. The level of that character will be added to the one who is experiencing the Quickenings. As states this would increase stats of the character. Also PVP can only be one on one, and not on holy ground due to tradition :-) Also the winner of said duel would gain the skills of the defeated immortal. This by far would be the most important part of the Quickening. Thus if one immortal has a swordsman ship of 70 and the other has one of 50 and by chance due to saying the character with a 50 swordsman ship wins and will now have a 120 swordsmanship. Skills would be hard to raise and also max skill level would be 300 per skill and then a total of so many points can only be gained through out all skills. This would prevent a character that can do everything.
Combat would be twitch based combat with some type of combo system where one combat specility skill would lead into another. This would allow for decapitation to only take place during certain times in combat. I would say the special combat skills would vary per weapon and how many skill levels you have in given weapon.
Anyways I have to get off of here. Give me some input I have several more ideas for said MMO.
