MMORPG.com's Garrett Fuller recently had the opportunity to check out Funcom's online arena-style game called "Bloodline Champions". Garrett calls Bloodline Champions "the perfect fuel for PvP players who need their fix". He's got a lot of good reasons for that thought so keep reading. Let us know what you think of Bloodline Champions by posting to the forums.
So a few weeks ago, Funcom sends over this online arena style game called Bloodline Champions. Let me start by saying the game is not a full MMO (thus we won’t be listing it but thought it might be fun to talk about anyway), but it is online and has plenty of MMO elements to it, the largest of which is very fast paced PvP. The less time I have to play games, the more I am coming to truly enjoy arena style games that give the quick burst of combat in a short period of time. Bloodline Champions is the perfect fuel for PvP players who need to get their fix. The game also has a unique art style which was what drew me in first. So let’s take a look at Bloodline Champions.

please the game is trash and vary dated looking it look's like PS2 games and with funcom behind it that alone is fail. The game play im sure is no where near as good as LoL or HoN from what I seen they sent me a CB key that when in the trash.
You should check out League of Legends if you haven't. LoL is a similar style of game and to my knowledge is listed on this site.

This game is star, the only challenging online game in a while.
Please do not hype any gam.. oh wait, nevermind... forgot what forum I was on.
Little detail: notice the FAQ of the website... it says " yet to be announced " with what kind billing system it will be ( F2P or P2P ). I assume that it will be F2P, hence the reason why they dont wanna say it. ( so you have to spend hundred of dollars to stay at the top in competition ).
Just my 2 cents ^^
There seem to be many uninformed and lazy people here.
I'm just cool like that.
The game isn't horrible or trash. Plays like LoL or other similar games. My only issue with being invited to the CB was that this isn't my type of game. These game types bore me to tears. I want to play MMORPGs not arena based top down pvp games. But for those who like that type, here's a new game for you
I dont understand. What are the MMORPG elements he speaks ok, PvP is for sure not an MMORPG element. More an FPS element I would say.
Can you develop your character? Get new gear?

I didn't see any links to a website or FAQ page, so I have a couple questions to ask here. You said that the best builds are not known yet, so I am assuming that each class has sets of abilities that they acquire points to spend by winning games and earning XP points in some form or another, correct? Also, is there any type of item rewards or buffs that you find on the battlefield or earn through winning?
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
Great game for real competitive people. No Crits, Evades or any of that passive bullish. Everyone is on a even playing field so skilled players shine. Its all about timing your skills, and team play. Yeah there is 'some' luck factor, but other than that BLC seperates the wanna bes from the real PvPers!
I only played this game for like 8 hours max because I just havent been able to put as much time as I wanted into it.
Perfect PvP game for me, super fast action and I personally love the graphics.

Got a beta key, installed it, doesn't patch on either of my PC's. Just sits there. Lost interest in trying to get it working.
Played only one night so far, but I had fun. As mentioned no "dice rolls" involved. If you die you screwed up or they were better. Very quick to start and play games. Fun so far for what it is, but I don't see me sticking with it.
Not sure on the RPG elements. You can gain exp, but not sure what it is used for yet. Thought it was just used to seperate newbies from vets for game matching.
Fun game for your spare time. I've been in beta for at least a few months now I think. It's nice to be able to just hop in for some pvp and hop out when real life calls.

I much prefer this to HoN or LoL. Why?
1) Games are much faster - an hour is just too long for a typical DoTA type game.
2) Gets to the point - I'm here to fight other players, not minions.
3) No luck - skill based gameplay shines through because every skill has an exact number associated with the effect.
It has plenty of teamwork and plenty of room for individuals to shine. Like LoL/HoN it is not an MMORPG, but I'm sold on it as a great game.
Same problem here. Besides, it looks like too much like wow with just the arena part. I never really liked that part of wow to begin with.
I have played for about a week so far . If you like PvP that requires all skill no gear its worth a try. Graphics look ok , the game runs smooth. Its Arena based so to me the content seems light, but its still beta so. I cant say its like any other game ive played, and i like that.

There is a big difference between FPS/twitch PvP and RPG PvP. To me this game sounds much more like an FPS PvP game.
RPGs, historically, allows you to build the skills of your character and aquire gear and as such you will have crits, evades and other dice rolls.
So to summarise: RPG PvP =/= FPS PvP so you cant say that one is "real PvP" as they are completely different.

So, what you're saying is that the company that pays you money to advertise their MMORPG(s) has asked you to be a shill for their non-MMORPG game, and you've agreed, because you believe your readers are nothing more than a bunch of mindless, game-buying zombies who won't realize they're being screwed over by both the developer and its shill.
Thanks. I'll pass.
Unless they have changed this drastically in the last 4 months the game is pretty fail. It is boring repetative and lacks balance among champions.
Had the beta invite sitting in one of my inboxes for yonks now, can't bring myself around to giving it ago as I can't see why playing something like TF2 isn't a preferable option.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
In the BETA and the game is really fun. STFU if you haven't played trolls. The Art style IS very refreshing also. Go back to w0w or dota if you can't handle it.
played it for about 3 hours after getting free beta invite. it looks old, and i guess i'm just not a fan of the art style. i thought it was "Super Mario" like. sure it was fun for those 2 hours but nothing i would spend days on end playing. there is no progression, no story, no immersion, just mindless pvp matches.
got bored fast.
You mean, "PvP way far below you."

I wouldn't really make a comparison between the two. They play far different, other then them being obvious PvP focused games. But if you're looking for something different when it comes to PvP, then BCO isn't that bad. A lot of the champs are unbalanced though, but they're still testing and tweaking the game. I wouldn't say it's meant to be played to much, it's a nice game when you're bored or feel like having a little fun before work.
Not even close to true. There are no hard counters and no bad setups in bloodline champions, they did an amazing job of balance. Just take a look at the scoreboard at the end of a match, combat ratings pretty much always correlate evenly with a players' experience, regardless of class played. There are some that are simpler for beginners, certainly, but that doesnt mean the harder ones are poorly balanced. Watch for high-grade players, they typically never play the same Bloodline over and over. 1v1 you may have a point though, but characters are balanced around 3v3 matches.
