Another overhyped mmorpg. 4/10 rating from me.

1: because other games also have boring combat systems, it does not mean this system is acceptable.

2: just because it is f2p does not mean that it nullifies that combat is boring and repetative, it only means that you can not feel ripped off when you come to this realization.

3: if you think all other mmorpg's out there are 11,2,3,11,2,3 and thus this game is no different than all others, you have only played WoW and a few other non-inventive, easy mode games that should also be f2p.

As much as this game does seem a bit overhyped this type of Genre has been long awaited as long as it isn't messed up there has been absolutely nothing that touches directly in this high-graphical 3D action MMORPG in the same sense so I'm looking forward to playing it, and compared to the rest of the F2P's this game has alot to offer, given some unfair cash shop terms I'm ok with that, they need to pay the bills and encouraging players to use the cash shop shouldn't be looked down upon as if they only had customization items it would be favored from our prespective but not enough people would invest in those since they aren't nessicary.

It is just bad when the items you need start adding up over 15$ a month.

Hopefully, it won't end up into this with the platinum coin buying. I can understand a dungeon limit but some people may be quite quick to finish dungeons.

Nexon's cash shop do tend to be a little expensive, but since the items are not necessary to one's success, it *should* be fine. Dungeon Fighter Online also has a fatigue system, although it's not possible to buy additional fatigue points (to run more dungeons) and it's doing fine.

Looking at DFO's Cash Shop. You can "guess" the average price for certain items like the Goddess Grace (self-revive in a dungeon, 1 time use per GG). DFO has Life Tokens, which goes for 300 NX for 1 Life Token; 2,700 NX for 10 Token; 6,600 NX for 25; 12,900 NX for 50, and 19,800 NX for 100 Tokens.

    1000 NX = $1

Platinum Tokens in VIndictus will likely cost around the same price as DFO's Life Tokens too.

These are just speculation, but I don't think I'm wrong.

EDIT: Cash Shop just opened. For 30 Goddess Grace it cost 7,200 NX and for 30 Platinum Token, it cost 11,900 NX.

    You know, I found a superior way to get around the token issue;

Play a different character, or some other game til they return.

This isn't the kind of game you wanna play for extended periods anyway. I will typically play for a few hours before hopping in Wurm, UWO or Mabinogi. Plus, I plan on switching between Fiona and Evie, so I can stretch out how much time I can play til a resupply of tokens two-fold. Anybody that simply has to play this all day, every day, is going to get sick of it really fast. IMO, the token system is doing you a favor by preventing premature burnout, after all, the game is a simple dungeon runner without the kind of depth you expect from a game that can suck every waking hour of your life away.

Writer / Musician / Game Designer

Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4
Waiting On: GW2, TSW, Archeage, The Rapture

While I agree, that content can get boring, I don't think making a new character will change it, and instead, give you the same result as someone playing this all day. Unlike DFO where you can PvP when your fatigue runs out, Vindictus only has dungeons currently, so there's very little to do, and you'll burn out very quickly. Fishing will be added today, but it quickly loses it's novelty after a few tries :P

Vindictus isn't even an MMO, but it's the latest F2P flavor of the month and so the media loves it to death, as do all the freeloading players.

I'd say they like it because it's different from the typical point&click, and there isn't a lot of hack'n slash MMO in the industry. As to wether or not it's an MMO, this debate has also happened with Guild Wars and a few more. There's no right or wrong answer, it's just an opinion in this case.

Basically this, until the final version is released worldwide, people's mileages will vary as they wonder if this game is an MMO, an online Action Game, or just overhype.

My biggest beef with teh game isn't the game play.  Yeah it gets a little repetitive but it is fun.

I really hate the character models though.  It's pretty much impossible not to make a 16 year old metrosexual.  It'd be nice to be able to make a normal looking adult character.

I'd actually enjoy it very much if it followed the original Mabinogi's ageing (Every week you grow older or some sorts.) It seemed much more realistic and with Rebirth, important.

I always wanted to play a child Evy, building huge constructs and naming them "Fluffles" for pure concrete and etc.

Wish there was a lot more features from Mabinogi that had been translated into Vindictus. The heavy instancing has always bothered me a little, and crafting feels somewhat lacking compared to Mabinogi. Mabinogi wasn't restricted by levels as much as Vindictus either (as in you have access to pretty much all the content, given that you have met it's requirements in terms of skills or quests. But very few quests would require you to meet a specific level).

If Vindictus had Rebirth and the necessary adjustements to fit with this feature, I wonder how'd they explain it. Not sure if Mabinogi's explanation of Militian would fit with Vindictus Mercenaries, would be interesting nonetheless.

    I am with the OP....

Even for the type of game it is... Where is the variety in the dungeons... The past 10 dungeons look exactly the same... When I payed to go over to the non newbie areas; just because the terrain is different... does not make it different... I still feel like I'm doing the same thing in the instances....

Why is there not real interaction in towns.... I go into a building and I talk to a picture not a 3d model....

I do like the combat system; I think it does take skill, and I liked the ability to manipulate the enviroment, but after going thru dungeons 30+ times,  all the objects you can manipulate are still the same...

In the begining there was a wonderful cinematic, and I thought it really would be a could game if you had cinematics (kinda like GWs for the instances.... But none so far

I will be playing to level 20 and see if it gets better (level 14 now)....

But I have a feeling I will be going back to everquest II,  where I can go and do so many things and I have a real mature guild that is wonderful...

In this game no one talks to me or has replied so far... but I don't mind playing this game solo if I have too if the game gets better...

Yes I did expect an MMORPG, but I am trying to judge this as what the game is...

I also dislike how soon this game will go to full release and still not have the other characters.  Personally I hate warrior classes and like mage and cleric.  Due to the games development, this game should not have started as soon as it did.  I rather wait another year for this game, then play it how it is.

This game is only fun when you play on hard mode. Its too boring and easy, but I find the harder bosses that actually require you to try make the game fun. Reminds me of Zelda and what not where you gotta learn the bosses pattern and use it to pwn them. Atleast its not FFXIV is what I say. I'll be playing this till Tera comes out or SWTOR.

Shame to see Vindictus isn't living up to its hype that I heard about from beta. I know some people who quit their MMo's cuz they wanted to play Vindictus. I wonder if they still playing. Hopefully some good changes come. It's still in beta right?

Seems like it has gone official since Oct.28th. Still lacks on content, but Nexon should be able to update it fast enough.

eh, I don't really consider this game an MMORPG. I need a persistent world other than the one town/hub being the only non-instanced content. More of a CORPG like the first guild wars or something along those lines. Either way, the game is fun, would be nice if I didn't have to repeat every stage though.

There is an update planned for tonight to end Halloween event so they might ninja-add more stuff into the game. Besides, Evie scythe is coming soon since Nexon started 'releasing' info and polls about it.

    Edit~

Just looked at the main page and saw that they are adding scythe in tonight's patch.

Yeah I just saw the announcement when I went to look at the Launch Date. Funny enough, was talking to a friend this morning about how I can't wait for Evie's Scythe skills to be added, didn't expect them until late November so I'm a little suprised. Then again, doesn't seem like they are adding anything else outside of the Evie skills, which is a bit of a disappointment.

Yeah just looked at the patch note too. I like the Crimson Token idea though, I was expecting Nexon to release some form of cash shop item that can be exchanged to players through in-game currency like it is the case with most other Nexon's games and here it is.

There will likely be another patch again when the Events are over, which will add the remaining of Evie's abilities, but that's just a guess. Still not enough, so I hope they add more content and Heroic mode soon.

The combat mechanics are much more of a soothing relaxation then other mmos, where you just press a sequence of buttons. This one actually utilizes combos. The only thing that shall make it better in my opinion would be to include more special moves within said combos.

I've only played a Fiona for a little while, but I really plan on playing Eva (Mage) and sticking with it cause of my magic addiction.

Beta's equal 98% of what the game will be like on release....

I was really looking forward to this game, but it's really incredibly shallow gameplay.  It's button mashing that feels like button mashing.  Worst is that when you enter an instance with a group, one person acts as host and this leads to ridiculous lag.  Very shallow gameplay.

Honestly, I wouldn't consider this an MMO. More like an action console game with some coop multiplayer.

Firstly I would like to point out Nexon doesnt even claim its an MMORPG. If you look at the nexon page its tagged as an MMO action game which is exactly what it is.

Its also not a pay to win game. At least not right now. Right now its a pay to play MORE game. Though except for the few who want to, with the current content there really isnt a need to pay once your free tokens run out. The item shop is tokens that let you run instances after your free ones are gone. Free ones reset every monday, thursday, and friday currently giving you 50 tokens. The first 6 runs cost 2 tokens, the second 6 cost you 3 tokens and after the 12th it costs 4 tokens a run. The purchased tokens cost 1 token a run regardless of how much you have played. This is all subject to change since it has already. Other than that the only things in the item mall at this time are new hair styles, under armor, items that let you revive in an instance and some package deals that include all of the above. All over priced at that. For example there is an underarmor that costs almost 6 bucks that only lasts 30 days. Oh and you can buy inventory which will cost you $10.90 for 1 permenant chest. So yea you get the idea. The item shop is expensive but not pay to win.

As a person who IS playing this as there fulltime game (well none offline game such as fallout new vegas) I would give the game a 6 or 7 out of 10 right now. There is a severe lack of content in my opinion. 2 of the 5 classes/characters arent released yet in the NA version OR the Korean version. I'm not sure what boat the korean version is up to but ours is only up to 3 and there was a dev post the other day saying the next update wont be untill Dec 1st. The level cap is 38 here, 70 in korea. 38 doesnt take long to get to at all. I would say even a casual who just uses free tokens can hit 38 in 3ish weeks. Combat, while somewhat repetative is fun imo. And the biggest thing for me is the game is truly SKILL BASED. One really BAD thing is the PvP isnt implimented yet.

Oh and OP complaining about the music? I'm suprised MMO's even put music in anymore. I have no proof but if I had to guess after the first couple times a person hears an MMO's game music they are listning to there own music anyway.

This is perfect explination of Vindictus. Its an MMO Action Game, and perfect as your second - off game. I actually play this along with FFXIV (I know the evil stepchild huh). It works great when I get bored, frustrated, or my friends arent' on with me in FFXIV and want some action. An hour or two in Vindictus and I'm set for another 3-4 hours of crafting hahahaha.

Oh yeah, and the music, first option setting I do in every game is MUSIC OFF. I'll take my Pandora any day over any games music, no matter how good it is.
