Aion: 2.1 Patch Notes & Increased Drop Rates

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

NCSoft and the Aion development team have updated the Aion powerwiki with new information about the 2.1 patch scheduled to go live on the public test server today and live on all servers on November 18th. Included in the update are the full patch notes and an interesting comparison of drop rates between patch 2.0 and 2.1.

The Results from 20 Beshmundir Temple Runs

We killed every named monster on Beshmundir Temple’s Perilous Path 20 times, and acquired a total of 138 total items! Out of the total 138 items collected, 121 were fabled quality (including Wings), and 17 were eternal. Richer than the richest Shugo merchant!

Devs have also produced the Aion Adventure Guide to assist players in finding the best places to find level-specific items.

Check out the Aion Power Wiki here.

I fear that might be too little too late. Glad to see the drop rates don't suck so much, but the item grind left such a bad taste in my mouth, I honestly don't even care anymore. I've moved on to (waiting for) greener pastures since then.

This game was a dog when it came out - not sure why people like it - me I've already got a job - I don't need another one when I play a game.

Going to be honest !waiting for my subscrpition to end, then leaving this game, apart from the grind and the terrible community this game has rude nasty kids or adults written all over it !

Never had this in any online game I have played nothing but bad attitudes,GW was a great game still is with great community spirit roll GW2.

The biggest flaw in Aion without a doubt is there ping lag and there problems with the servers EU based that is and many tests were done to show the large amount of packet loss from there 2 server links there end, unless your near the servers or your global link is stable then forget SIEGES and real pvp..

Those of course that dont get these problems with the lag will say it's ya PC or your IP blah blah..zzzzzz please train in the job first then comment!!

Anyway despite my groans ,Aion if you dont get these probs then it will be a good game apart from the balance the grind and the community problems!!

If all the above was sorted it would prob be the best MMO to date ,but sadly for me even since playing beta stopping and coming back and trying AION at least 3 times over, to see if it had improvements ... FOR ME THAT IS , AION = FAIL !

    EU SERV..PERENTO

So, here comes welfare epics to the world of Aion.

The drop rate boosts are pretty insane comparing to before the patch.

After grinding and grinding and grinding in that game. After cursing and swearing as I tried to play in their OW PVP but failing because the game is so focused on gear. After finally just trying to play in non-PvP areas so I don't have to put up with the frustration.  When I finally quit Aion, I was mad at myself for trying as hard and as long as I did.

Now they are setting up to give people all these wonderful rewards. Lots of loot!  Except it feels more like a slap in the face to me.  I'm never going back. Raising the loot drops is just salt in the wound.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

Aion failed for not having a PvE server. Shoving PvP down PvE player's throat is a good way of pushing them away.

Obviously I'm a PvE player and there's no amount of loot that can persuade me to go back. I personally like the game and I'd like to enjoy it, but open PvP just killed it for me.

    No thank you.

    Ready for GW2!!!

Then you should know it's 95% PvE right now, even the new end game areas have restricted PvP.

Well every server is now a PvE server pretty much.  Rifting is dead with a 40-80% damage reduction upon going through a rift.  The only viable place to PvP now is really the abyss and this is not the thread to go into how absolutely effin broken aerial pvp is.  Anyways the game is a PvE'ers paradise now thanks to people like you.  This is a large part of the reason I left.  After six months the writing was on the wall that this would no longer be a PvPvE game, but instead contain PvP and PvE as pretty much completely separate components.

I left after the whole 'rifting is dead' thing, and there was still plenty of PvP to be had. Go grind bloods for your Miragent's if you wanna fight people, chances are you won't get more than a couple before you're bombarded by overpowered mages and rangers.

this is a sad attempt to make a failing gmae more appealing to those of use who put in the time and effort and never got anything in return ty Aion for nothing but a endless grind to 50 and then another endless grind to ge the armor that you need to basically survive in the game now you try to make amends by highering the drop rate, which is just more grind no ty im over this game.

    p.s. I cannot wait for GW2!!!!!

It would be nice if current players actually commented on this game once in awhile, because obviously none of you are currently playing or have played it in the last few months...if you cant handle playing a game for longer than a MONTH to hit max level then go stick to your FPS games and WoW please..stop trolling this game because it takes some patience and time to get to top level..as far as the "Grind" please..it's almost too easy now..that is all the gaming community does now is whine and complain about the negatives and fail to comment on the positives..Aion is doing just fine, and the issues brought up by the community have almost ALL been addressed or are being addressed..FROM A CURRENT PLAYER.

I personally will not renew my sub to Aion until they increase the xp reward from killing mobs by atleast 2-3x no matter how much loot they drop.

I loved Aion to death when i was playing it,(launcher kept breaking after every patch) It presented a challenge, and when you got to your goal you actually felt good because you earned it.

It took me 28 runs of fire temple pre 1.9 to get my gold orb. during that time i met a number of regular people that were also after their gold items, and it had a real sense of community about it because I felt entangled in their struggle and theirs in mine.

However, it seems that this is not the case anymore and the community has...changed.

I do not bash any game, playing or not. I never comment on games I have not personally played. So far .... Aion is ONLY game so far (and im 50 and played a lot of everything) that I NEVER plan to play again. And I'm, considering many bad experiences, sorry i given them my credit card no. And same goes for FFIV,. With big difference i have played Aion for 1 month whole days ... but have played FFIV mabe 2 hours before had enough.

I was loosing interest in Aion for a while but the new changes have made ( at least for me) a huge difference.  Drop rates, exp and the ability to go about the more relaxed exploring/questing aspect of the game has made it alot more fun.

For anyone complaining about the rift nerf..DOH!  Its true you can't go into an area that vitualy guarantees you will be engaged in PVP with players to many levels below to be rewarding. It is also true that if you love a good fight the new areas provide for just that.  You will now be competing against players close to your level/eq and thats a bunch more fun!!!!

Many areas that were pretty barren of players are filling now because the areas aren't filled with gankers/griefers that seem to get their jollies PKing people who don't have a chance....its safer and easy to feel buff but geez, go kill some bugs in a starter area if you need a guaranteed win :P

The new exp for both mob kills and quests have eliminated the grind.  Its pretty easy to pop levels now....not a no-brainer but not a snails pace either.

I'm loving the game these days.

not sure how guys can keep play Aion. I found this game boring to death, bot ruled and with poor community.

if only i could try it before buy, trust me Aion would be not my choice at all, now i have feeling to make very bad purchise & time lost of grindy game.

way better to pay for WoW & still hope to see GW2 coming out.

hope never find such fail game as Aion in my life

try before buy, even if it's a game to avoid bad surprises.
Worst surprises for me: Aion, GW2

I don't think there's really anything wrong with Aion, but nothing really makes it stand out aside from the soul-crushing grind for gear. Don't be fooled by the increase in drop rate. Even if you go kill dragons and get golds, the people with PVP gear will still destroy you.
