i have a question I downloaded the game after the Updates i started the game but i got this ERROR MESSAGE : DISCONNECTED FROM THE SERVER iam from EU in Hungary this game only for American players?
My IP maybe blocked or what i really want to play with this game but i can't.
Please HELP write for me!!!!!!
Yes, the current one is for the North American audience only. IP's outside of that are being blocked. I've heard that the game may be available in Europe in another month or two.
bad bad bad review, "verdict" try it ?! the guy did not even tuched many of the core features. very very bad quality article, worthy to some joe does blog or something not an article here. shame
I wouldn't even suggest trying it out, if u ask me. I liked the game - for about three hours. It got boring so quickly. It has no depth at all. You basically get on a boat, do the same map, go talk to a 2D npc and do the same thing.
No wonder it's free.... Who would pay for this kinda thing?!?!?!
Richard Rules!!!! "The Fork Of Truth" Come to the dark side, we have cookies...
It has really good animations but its combat physics is,well lets say a stretch.Combat is way better in games like Oblivion or Mount and blade this is more along the lines of cheap action games that offer nothing anyone age of 12 or older would enjoy much. I am looking for little more realism and challenge personally so this game was off the mark I did like that you could pick up items and use them to fight and break things you came across. If there was a storyline that was good to go along with it the animations and graphics would make up for the poor combat style.
I'm seeing in the comments that this game is very repetitive. The repitition isnt too bad tho if you think of this like Monster Hunter(out on the PS2). This game is exactly like that, you get a mission, goto said area and do your mission. If you really put some thought into it, it really isnt as repetitive if you don't make it that way. For example, one might goto The Perilous Ruins and fight the Gnoll Chieftain and get obliterated by him on your own, not fun. Although if the same person was to join with 3 other people(besides the drawback of the boss have 2x more health bars) the fight will be a noticable amount easier. Also the ability to actually play solo is very nice in my opinion, sometimes you don't want some retard who doesn't know what the hell he is doing in a party with you, so you do it alone(retard ppreventability!!!). Games such as World of Warcraft possibly the most popular MMO, do not have this ablility to play solo. Back in its 60 days it did but nowadays you do dungeons or else you suck. That's just how it is. Not to mention this game recieves better ratings than WoW and is still free.
Repetitive, compared to what? Seriously? Has anybody that complained about the repetitiveness (which it is repetitive) ever played ANY other MMO out there?
"Go kill 10 Rats"
"Speak to this person, that person, this person and obtain 30 items dropped from this monster."
Or how about combat? Tab, Spell [1], Spell [1], Spell [2], Spell [1], Spell [3]
or if you're melee,
Tab Target, Auto-Attack, (Make a sandwich), Skill [1], etc.
I'll give you this: The game is shallow and it actually FORCES you to play casually. It has repetitive issues, just like EVERY other MMO out there.
However, the combat is addictive. You can get 1-2 shotted by the bigger bosses and only a few more allowed hits from the lesser bosses. You have to dodge, evade, and teleport "blink" your way out of trouble. You use secondary weapons in almost every boss fight (like spears, grappling hooks, bombs, etc) and you can use (very effectively) the debris from broken columns, walls, etc. to keep the boss on his toes. In a few cases, you can even knock the armor off of the boss and keep it as your own.
Your timing is everything in this game. If you go too far in your combo, you're vulnerable to getting hit. You employ tactics at all levels. You have to actually think on your feet or you're going to get creamed. Oh and you are really encouraged to party so in case you do get creamed, there's someone there to get your dead butt back up and in the action.
I haven't had more fun or had more laughs with my friends in game in a long time. Get 2-3 of your buddies in a group in game, hop on vent and it's guaranteed you'll be laughing as a log sweeps your mate off a bridge in one fell swoop, the spear you aimed just perfectly brought your friend falling from the long climb of a high ladder or you "accidentally" trigger that trap that just smashed a few of your buds to death. There's even parts of the story that surprises you and honestly? I know a few who shed a tear (although they'll NEVER admit it!).
Worth a try? The reviewer got that right, at least. Have some laughs, chuck some spears, stomp on spiders, and dodge some boulders. Oh and take a breath, the game will gladly give you a chance to go back to your grind in w/e game you're doing with the same repetitive tasks, raids, instances that you have been doing for the past 10 years.

I think what a lot refer to as repetitive is that in your average MMO, you move from one zone to another at a decent pace. In Vindictus, there's only one town, the dungeon maps repeats themselves constantly, etc. But overall I agree with your post, in that most MMOs are very repetitive themselves, although they simply hide it better than Vindictus.
Personally, I think there's potential to add more randomization to the maps, traps, and perhaps try to innovate more on dungeons settings to remove a bit of the repetitiveness. (Oh god I'd love to see Zelda-like dungeons in an MMO)
Roll on for the european release. Looks like a game that will fill the niche for picking up and having a casual gaming session every now and then. Didnt think it was a very good review though must admit.
Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.

Everything becomes routine after a while, even RL. I agree with randomization of maps to make it less repeatitive. But then after a while...@ Portia: The whole argument is moot IMO.
As per vindictus concerned, the game is design for you to play casually, hence dungeons can be completed in 10-15mins (depending on party size), this is my observation only, i never went to high level dungeons to see how it goes.

DDO doesn't even bother to add randomized dungeon and it's working pretty well (although I don't like that game).
As for the higher level dungeons, they pretty much remain in that 10-15 minutes timeframe, although it might take a little longer if your team is struggling, especially on "Final" bosses.
I love the combat in this game....its how combat should be in games. I used to love the point and click like in good 'ol DAOC, but when Final Fantasy online first came out i loved how alive the combat was...despite it still being point-n-click. This game however, blows them all away in the combat department. Its still a little unpolished but its a great game and extremely fun!

True as far as it goes. But it is an unwise approach to launch a partial game in an audience as large as NA and then attempt to play catch up, and expect people to give the game another chance after it is finally completed. It would have been far better to delay launch until they had all of the issues worked out from the Korean version, done the localization, and then released all at once. But thats water under the bridge at this point.

I defy you to you find a game that was 100% bug free and full content on release.

Allow me to revise and extend my remarks ^^ I shouldn't have said all. But what I meant is once they had the full game working on the Korean side, then do the localization and release it in NA. Releasing something like this piecemeal is an open invitation to disaster.
Played this game for a while in Beta and while its one of the prettiest Korean F2Ps its very repetitive. Basically you'll have to run some dungeons over and over again.
Game consists of:
1. Run dungeons for quests 2. Run same dungeons to get materials 3. Exchange materials for armor set.
Then you switch to another dock/ship
1. Run dungeons for quests 2. Run same dungeons to get materials 3. Exchange materials for armor set.
etc...
Thats basically all that game has to offer. 1 little village with NPCs, 2-3 ships and about 10 dungeons through each ship. I got really bored around the second ship. Even though game is pretty I don't want to go back... Bleh! Game is good for maybe first 30 hours or so and then interest dissipates.
Only thing I can help think is if some half way decent company making a good action-oriented MMO off this style of game but alas none of them are willing to innovate or take risks to make something really new.
MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit.
Only thing I can help think is if some half way decent company making a good action-oriented MMO off this style of game but alas none of them are willing to innovate or take risks to make something really new.
Well, maybe Tera, we'll see.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
The combat and boss battles is what makes the game so engaging. The dungeons may be retative but the same can be said about any MMO. It is in the nature of the genre to be grind heavy but at least this game can keep my attention and I can activly enjoy grinding.
Beyond the first dungeon in many ways it is almost entirely based on player skill. You play poorly and some of the later bosses will 1 or 2-hit you to death so nowing your character and being able to accurately prediction the action as it plays out is very important. Prepare poorly (lack to bring proper spears or chains) and your entire party will suffer.
Beyond that I love the gamepad support. I dunno if its all the console action games I have been playing lately but when played with a controller you loose track of your mouse and keyboard and sometimes you forget this is an MMO you are questing for.
I found it sucky.. 2 out of three toons are female.. NO choice to be a male with them.
The combat is reminiscent of a buttonmashing game..
You dont target anyone.. just aim in general direction and button mash...
There are connection problems JUST as a dungeon is finished.. YAY..connection problem!
I lose all loot and wasted my time and effort... happens occasionally.. but consistently.
Combat is weird.. you seem to NEVER get hit, then all, then of a sudden, all your armour gets broken and you die... I also have gotten stuck multiple times while in battle and end up dying because of it..
The constant zone in zone out..zone to the docks.. zone to your boat then zone to the dungeon after ANOTHER waste of time; cinematic introduction to all the memebers in the party.
AND EVERY house, shop or dwelling you want to enter, AGAIN, you have to Zone in... RUBBISH! And BORING!
SO... I craft some light and heavy armour.. argh.. can't use it too heavy.. SO I buy the skill books that apprently "lighten" the weight of the armour.. after jacking up the skill twice.. about 200 points.. of long and hard won points... I STILL can ONLY wear the SINGLE piece of armour because it is a few pounds too much.. and I am encumbered and can barely walk... SO I wasted all those points... and money for the armour and skill book. What do I DO? try for yet ANOTHER level JUST to find out I STILL cant wear it without being encumbered... oh yes and the next level will take like 200 points... FAR too tedious and clumsy.. this "armour skill " system.
Encumberance in a game is just THAT, ENCUMBERANCE TO PLAYING the game itself, and something that can be done without.. SAME thing as your armour getting shredded in one hit... and subsequent death afterwards.. If it takes 1000 hits with a sword to kill a mob it should take 1000 hits to kill a player!
The seemingly random way points are awarded to your main attributes gets my goat too!
NOPE you DONT level and add str or int to where you want.. you finish a certain quest or mission and it gives you +3 str and +4 int.. as far as I know theres no way to specifically buff up certain atrtributes like strength for me to wear that stupid armour...
I got up to level 11 then deleted the game off my harddrive.
Only thing I can help think is if some half way decent company making a good action-oriented MMO off this style of game but alas none of them are willing to innovate or take risks to make something really new.
Mabinogi 2 will have the same action combat system as Vindictus but with a much deeper world but that won't be out until 2012.

Mabinogi 2 will have the same action combat system as Vindictus but with a much deeper world but that won't be out until 2012.
