I keep reading time and time again about how people love Ryzom when they play the trial, but get worried about the lack of a population. What can Ryzom do to draw more players in, while making them forget about the population issue? It seems to me the gem of a game is in a rut, sadly.
Playing - EVE, Wurm
Retired - Final Fantasy XI, Anarchy Online, Mabinogi
Waiting - ArcheAge, Salem

advertising and marketing that leads up to a relaunch of Ryzom 2.0 new and improved
This^ the graphics would need a a very new glossy shine and the open-world dynamic content increased/improved in line to compete with upcoming games. It can then be the stand-out sandbox (excl eve) and maintain as a very attractive alternative.

Graphics are by no means Ryzoms Problem.
Perhaps better marketing would help.
However i for one would prefer to have jumping in the game than newer graphics.
The style of the graphics and effects are brilliant but an update would make them even more standout. You are right jumping would be more of a priority.

Advertising would help along with the edition of more sandbox-y features like non-instanced player housing and cities.
More variation, less repetition. Once player hits lvl50, everything Ryzom has to offer gameplaywise has been seen. Oh well, except that the options for hunting and whatnot get less with advancing.
Seems like the possibilities of the engine are somewhat exhausted too as many of the recent addons are done via web browser interface.
