I had a similar reaction, especially when he stopped those attacks.

I'm a bit curious as to why they will release Karok before Kai though. I'm guessing Kai still needs some more balancing before they release him.

Karok is pretty damn creative from what I've seen. I think it's harder to come up with a creative archer/druid, so that might be why. Either way, I want Karok naoooow

I say that because I've seen reports of being mysteriously glitching into the Kai skin when joining Boats on the KR version.

And I agree, I also want Karok now, sadly we'll have to wait for quite a while :P

Ok, that dude is friggin awesome. The backbreaker and slamming kobolds into walsl by the legs totally sold me.

~though, while I think grappling bosses would be awesome (when solo), I worry about how this will mess with group dynamics since it seems Karok can just lock them up almost indefinitely while the others just pound them into oblivion.

The move only seems to interrupt the attack and knock bosses back , not knock them down/ stunned. I don't think it deals any damages either. Although it will be interesting to see how they balance it out.  But I wouldn't worry too much about it ruining group mechanics, just wait until Nexon adds Golems for Evie and you'll see that group dynamics is already messed up :P

    That's not my point.

You should well know that the majority of smashdom occurs on bosses when they are knocked down, and a knockdown is simply a moment where they are held in place and cannot fight back. The time it takes to lock up a boss as karok = that. There is absolutely no difference, all it takes is enough time for the entire group to smash out one or two 4-hit combos while the animation takes place. Unless grappling them as karok mitigates a metric shitton of damage, I *do* see issues with it.

I can only imagine for him to actually be able to do what he is in the vid, he probably has to have A LOT of strength. Like str mastery, and as much bonus to str possible. That and it probably takes 50+% of his stamina to wrestle with them for those few seconds. And I don't think a little punch to the face would do much damage, but who knows.

    ...

My beef is not about how much damage Karok's grapples would do... it's how much damage the *group in tow* can do while the bosses are in the middle of being grappled. Is it that hard to grasp, really?

IF and this is a BIG IF

they keep to the content schedule of at most every 3 months we should see Karok by the end of February early-mid march

That's not hard to grasp. What I was trying to go with is the fact that he has to have a drawback on it so he can't do it all the time and do all the damage in the world while tanking the boss. Because then what would be the point of any other character? Him being able to wrestle with the boss to give the rest of the team time to wail on him would be a great asset, but we don't even know how he actually does it, and what it requires. We only know that he can do it somehow.

Edit- There is also the fact fiona can counter-attack, so it isn't much different, except it seems he does it against their smashes and not their normal attacks. I'm sure there is balance on this somewhere, we just need to wait and see.

From what I saw in the entire video it appeared that Karok cannot just dodge like Fiona, Evie, and Lann

Maybe he's just entirely too bulky to do so

He did sidestep a few dozen times so given the fact he's not the fastest thing on two legs there's probably a good reason he can Anti-smash bosses

And much like Fiona's shield it probably gives opportunity for the others to step in and smack the bosses about.

The 3 months thing is only once Nexon catches up with the KR version. Then they will do their best to release any new content released on the KR version within 3 months for NA, or at least that's what they claim. Right now they seem to be aiming at a monthly content patch. Next one being scheduled for the first week of December I believe.

Rumors are that it may just be something to do with how scythes are non-trade, or something, I was clueless about the bug.

It may be more, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not. They released new CS items today and people threw a bitch-fit over it not being a new boat. I expect the same on the first, heh.

It doesn't seem any different from landing a strategic shot with a spear or chaining the boss down with chain hooks. There are already several ways to temporarily incapacitate the bosses. I was looking over my Wife's shoulder the other day during a Hoarfrost boss fight and what she was doing was aiming for the leg of the boss, pulling him down and actually dragging him along the floor as the team beat on him.

Doubt it will be just more CS items. Nexon has added content every month for Vindictus, although they split Evie into 2 parts. So December should be the release of the next boat and raise level cap to 45+. Dungeon Fighter is about due for a new patch soon too anyway, and will be done around the same time as Vindictus like they always do. Maple Story also has it's upcoming Expac on December. Nexon tends to release content patchs/expac for more than 1 of their MMOs at the same time, so it's highly possible.

The Scythe fix was promised for Dec 1, but Nexon has also stated that there's going to be a significant content patch in early December (they gave a specific day, can't quite recall it). And quite frankly, there's a definite need for new content right now - the group of lvl38's going out of their minds farming old content is no longer restricted to just the early-rushers.
