There's no such thing as an MMO that is finished at launch. Post launch development always continues; whether it's for patches or expansions, development always continues. I am and everyone else is just hoping that GW2 won't release, like all those other broken MMOs, with a lack of content.
Of course there is. It is a big difference with patching in stuff that should have been fixed or added at launch with adding post released updates.
I have faith since the first GW released in great shape but nothing is perfect (with possibly exception of Shirley Manson, the girl who sings in Garbage...).
But what you've just said proves my point. Those post-release updates (adding new content as they see fit) means that a development studio is still busy developing the game, so they are not finished with the game. There really is no point going even further with this pointless arguement, because above Mumbo Jumbo has provided an interesting quote from the devs, reitterating my point that an MMO at launch is never finished.
I am just hoping that GW2 will have a great start, once it's finally released because I've been waiting ages for a game like this to arrive.
Also, I just have to LOL at Volkon BS speculation, just above. XD
Lets hope they take the opportunity to do it right. We've all seen way too many games released before they should have. Look at Final Fantasy XIV as just one glaring recent example of that. If it takes them another year, then it takes them another year.
I agree with everyone else: let them take their time. The last thing we need now as a collective MMO community is to be let down by one of the most hyped (and promising) games.

You see that? It's a sword! It's probably a mesmer. The only caster class where swords actually fit (Rapiers)!
I agree with you wholeheartedly! See my above post about the saboteur! I think it could also allow a way for the mesmer to be defined as an adventurer class as well.

Not exactly. What I mean is that a MMO can be ready for release or not. You say a MMO is never ready and while both a true you do know what we mean. It is a big difference between releasing a product that feels like it actually should have been released (like a complete game) and a half done mess. That does not mean that the crew should stop working once the game is out.
As for the guys talking about the Mesmer: It is very possible but it might be a non magic user in cloth, like a pirate/Swashbuckler. It would also fit right in. So it is not time for the mesmer fans to open those Champagne bottles yet.
The rifle/pistol using profession is called the Tactician. And given the new analysis of the shadow figures, I would say that the female figure is holding a rifle, not a sword, so that would make the female figure the tactician.
For those hoping for a mesmer, I doubt the name will make it in, but the mechanice and asethics might make in on a profession with a new name.
Its not too far of a streach for the figure on the far left to be another pet/minion type class. As was said above, it does look like a bird alighting on a raised arm, rarther than a charrzooka; and it looks like some kind of animal behind it too.
As for the the heavy armor figure on the right, it is not a paladin. ANet would never use that word, it doesnt fit the lore at all. Paragon is a much more likely name and fits the blue-mace-lady image nicely along with aptly describing known GW2 character, Logan Thakeray.

Ghosts of Ascalon specifically mentions "Mesmer magic" in the same mention as elementalists and necromancers... odds are that will stick. The female Norn, if you look at various images, has a very clear sword floating above her hand, much along the lines of an Illusionary Weapon. When you throw in the concept are for GW2 of the mesmer, there's a pretty solid foundation to believe the iconic mesmer has indeed survived the cut.
So, when you're playing the game, if you see an Asuran mesmer walk up to you and say "Neener neener neener!", I can neither confirm nor deny that that may or may not in fact be me.

I prefer deafening silences to sounding brasses myself . At least a game not rushed out will have less chance of being another final fantasy 14 or Vanguard . After all theres plenty to keep us all occupied with other releases and all the free to play out there .
They overloaded everyone with that preview trailer at the time of Aion's launch. Now with all of this time going by, they are still hard at work on it. Simply because I feel they created the trailer around things they had not even coded yet. I am very let down by the amount of time that has gone by on this. They really need to get moving here.
The thing is that, even though you should not rush a product out of the door, they should not really hype the game so much and then expect fans to patiently wait and this is exactly what gaming companies do.
GW 2 has been hyped to the skies with its gfx, dynamic quest and what not and not fans, rightfully so, want to see if the game actually lives up to all its claims.
It's been a long wait, but I agree with other posters that I would rather continue waiting and give them time to get the game fully ready for release.
It was interesting reading the dev comments above about the team's work schedule. Sounds like a much more sensible plan taking a measured approach rather than the whole team getting burn-out just before or just after launch when, just as he says, they will need to continue to work hard as the game settles in.
If you reverse the colors on the Charr on the left you can make out what actually appears to be a bird-type of creature on the Charrs shoulder. The Charrs right arm is reaching up across and close to the body, with the hand reaching to the creature. You can make out the back of the bracer/gauntlet, which matches the one on the left arm. (It's also way too awkward of a position to be holding a long-barreled gun/cannon/charrzooka weapon). The Charrs head is even turned to be looking at the creature as well (look at the horns of the Charr).
At least... that's how I see it without the wishful thinking of a massive gun clouding my view...
You ever thought of the notion that he's back-packing a 3-barelled turret? Whilst holding a gun in his other arm maybe?
i think that big shadow is that Asuran we see in one of the trailers that controls the big golem. Maybe its like a pet class ort something? If not then i hope its another melee class because im having a hard time picking Char or Norn for my Warrior.
I think there is going to be a dervish like class although with a different name. It will deal out high damage in close range combat and be able to take moderate damage. I'm hoping that the dervish class gets a bit of a range though like maybe a one shot gun concealed in their scythe or something.
There is no "taking our time and getting it right"
All that means is that they started hyping this game way to soon. I think their milking the "wanting the game to be perfect" a little much. A big marketing scheme that was planned way ahead to feed the kids and get them excited to get in line and buy the game. I'm not so juvenile anymore to fall for this, and spend months talking about how great it's going to be.
I have a feeling that in the end its just going to be another mmo and the disappointment will be filling the site about how their hopes were shattered.
"if only they had done it this way" blah blah.
And i have a question...If the game hasn't came out yet, then how does it have a rating of 8.7 already??
Whose played it to rate it?
If the game is terrible they have a big cushion to keep the rating high. Does this site profit from rating games high or what?

As long as they don't cash in on the anticipation by releasing early I am happy.

Either its gonna rock or die as bad as AoC with that big hype but slowly coming news and its Failsoft as publisher shrugs...
Yes, a badas monk is too much fun to play! Puncha puncha puncha!
Were you listening to the dude's story?
im hoping for a druidic class

Momo sucks, I have proof.
I would be fine if they didn't release any more new information before the game released.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.

Yeah, my next column for the local newspaper is going to be about nothing too.
next profesion is mesmer 100%
