There may be an error on the scheduled time for the update. The EU and JP sites have it at Nov. 25 and 26 respectively. If you use the times listed for EU and JP, the Patch should be on the 25th! not the 26th for US.
This is either an error on SE'S part, or they're factoring in the Thanksgiving Holiday and releasing the patch a day later for the NA audience.
Either way, EU and JP will have patch 24 hours before US does. I think it's an error. One can hope.

Can you provide links to what you're saying. If a patch is put into the servers it won't matter what national country you're from. It affets everyone on that server.

Yeah I guess so, Square Enix must be rushing a lot of stuff... Today I've been noticing all kind of typos in quests and leve's.. Now they are putting the wrong dates?
Quit rushing Square Enix!!

The previously delayed all Worlds maintenance / version update will take place at the following time. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XIV will be unavailable.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
[Date & Time]
From Nov. 25, 2010 21:00 to Nov. 26 01:00 (GMT)
* Maintenance completion time may be subject to change.
[Affected Service]
- FINAL FANTASY XIV
So it's a day later... but still with that wary "MAY CHANGE" sign clearly posted. :
Err.. There's nothing unusual about a statement like that.
Anything is subject to possible change, at any time, for whatever reason. Especially in software development.
Everything's "intended" until it's done.
Also, patches getting pushed back isn't some unheard of event in MMOs... from any developer. Some patches get pushed back weeks or longer.
While I agree with you, I guess I was coming from the invisible standpoint of "This company can't really afford to delay these patches. I'm hanging on by a limb." But it was a healthy 4AM at my house, so I'm sure my brain, eyes, and fingers were all in perfect discombobulation.

Looks like they fixed the wording on the update anyways... Tomorrow we will find out what Square Enix is going to add to the game. I'm hoping they get a market search implemented ASAP or a auction house, armoring is starting to make me spend 2-3 hours in the market looking for stuff haha

Well that shopping time sort of reminds me about shopping times with certain peoples, so in that way SE created with the current Retainer system, a quite realistic envoirement for shopping.
Its only two days, nothing rediculously earthshattering. Furthermore I still have an entire month of free play in addition to the other 2 months of free play...
There is so much idiotic one-sided complaining on this forum. Two days is nothing in the programming and testing world. They might have found a small bug and needed to locate it or found that there is an incorrect value somewhere that could possibly break the system or be exploited... Ontop of being lucky enough to find it, they need to sift through thousands of lines of code in order to find it... And hopefully the first thing they touch fixes it without breaking something else.
You take your car to the shop cuz it is broken..they say they are gonna fix it by X day.. You go back...nope not ready yet. but hey we arent charging you for labor...You go back again..oh it'll be ready in a month...etc...
I think SE should have gave people free subscriptions to another game while they fix it! =P Sort of like a loaner car!
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

Mmm..but they're not charging you for labor .-. they've been handing out free game time like halloween candy. It's been about as good for you, too ;3 but that's not the point.
Of course you bought the box, true, but by your own analogy...you bought the car, right?

Japanese Lodestone has the date as the following
Which translates as "Date and time: Friday 26th November 2010 from 6.00 to 10.00".
If you convert the Japanese Scheduled Patch to EU and NA, you get the following.
- Time at GMT compared to this announcement: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/c ... 248&p2=136
- Time at PST compared to this announcement: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/c ... 248&p2=137
In short, SE messed up, it's tomorrow even for US.
well this should be interesting.
