Ya i really do agree with you. I stopped playing because the UI was just so clunky slow and terrible. It honestly felt like it was against you. After the update it feels way more responsive and a lot more fluid. Everything is just running great now even my fps have went up about 30. Give the game a second shot, square knows the messed up at least they addmitted to it and are taking quick actions to fix what they can.
FF14's beta and release were absolutely atrocious, but I do like how SE has been handling it. Clear acknowledgements that there are serious problems, free months, etc. Better than most.
Agreed. The UI was making the whole game seem sluggish... now it feels much better. Also no more "Are you sure" confirmations everywhere. It just does what you say, assuming you know what you're doing instead of cautioning you in your own inventory.
Sounding really promising. That UI was one of the biggest pitfalls. Still more things to work on before I consider dropping money on it, but that's definitely a step in the right direction. With GW2 not having subs, I'm looking for something to throw that 15 a month at so I have two games to bounce around between...I don't care how awesome GW2 is, I can only play something for so long before I need a break. Would love FF14 to be that game *crosses fingers*

However, dunno if it's just me,but in some windows i can't move to left or right (for example, changing inventory to crystals or currency) with my gamepad,i have to use the mouse T_T

When your in your inventory and want to change to the crystals or w/e....you have to click up again to the tabs....if you dont you can only go up and down "that menu", click up to the tabs and out of your inventory..then left and right to the tab you want. I've done the same thing when i first started using a controller....i just wasnt on the correct area to change tabs.
Actually that reminds me something I wanted to ask you guys who are still playing. With all the patches and updates, has it started to feel a little less PC unfriendly? I mean like, not everyone has a gamepad (me) nor wants to use one (me). Does it still feel like it's required to get the full effect of the game or has that been addressed yet?

UI is the only good thing to come out of this patch. SP is screwed big time. SOLO > PARTY after this patch. No reason what so ever to party except for NM's, that also if you find someone interested to hunt with you.
Welcome to solofest FFXIV.

Im picking on WoW btw because its the beast that made all of this possible
I disagree. The group play is even better now. You get a bonus for how many people in your group are within +/-5 of your range.
At higher levels, i will take you considerably longer to solo a same level or slightly lower level mob, where as in a group, you will ploy through.
This patch is amazing.... I love everything about it. It's only going to get better and better.
Have you even played the game? i just tested the solo and party SP gain and i was getting double amount of SP as solo. Other players are confirming the same problem at FFXIV core. Disagree all you like but i actually tested it before posting here.

I really don't think I would go that far. The keyboard customization they added is all but useless. There are still a lot of unnecessary prompts and confirmations. The speed has greatly improved, but the general intuitive nature of the UI still isn't there. I had items that needed to be repaired. Do you think it would be easier now to figure out which items needed to be repaired? Nope. Still a cluster bleep of cycling through every item and pressing the right directional button on the gamepad.
Overall, I am totally unimpressed with this update and nothing here has changed my mind yet to uncancel my account. I have logged out and most likely won't be logging back in until the next update.
The moment I read "It's like" or "WoW" is the moment I stop reading your post.

They are currently working on mouse/keyboard functionality similar to other mmo's on the PC... i believe that update will be in December or March... not sure... but its coming.

Honestly...all games go through adjustment periods. It'll be fine. In the meantime take advantage of some good solo times.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

While party SP will likely be tweaked since it is clearly out of balance, I wouldn't go as far as to say solo is double the SP of group right now (especially at higher ranks).
I expect a combination of a hotfix to fix the SP issue with grouping currently as well as the community needing to adapt to the new SP system (which is mob based not actions performed based). As we know the community has zero experience group grinding correctly because of the trends the previous system encouraged.
Yes I did group as soon as I logged on, and yes it was very dissapointing. I'm willing to wait until tonight and hopefully get a better group with some JP though and see if it is any better. If it is not you can pretty much rest assured that this will be fixed soon as an FF game without grouping would be totally against their entire design philosophy (which is to ALLOW solo players to play this game, not give them any advantages over people who play MMO's correctly).

Some people can't be pleased because they would rather play something else anyways... and other's just find anything that bothers them and argues about it forever... I'm sorry but repairing gear just isn't a big deal.... lol

Everyone seems to think this is the miraculous patch everone was waiting for ...I just think too late SE. If the troubles could be fixed in one patch why wouldnt it be included at launch? Stop taking us for rat labs and test your $hit prior to launch.

I for one find it much easier to repair items now that I can simply press right arrow or click to see the durability of any item. This as well as the fact that when you equip an item if it is damaged it will tell you in the log (I assume that means it will also do this if an item is damaged during play).

Like I said before previously... people look for reasons to strike a arguement... essentially like you are. Sure I think Square Enix thought maybe what they was doing was a good idea... but it failed so they changed it... and did it fairly quick.

He who keeps his cool best wins.
So item transactions are faster now? (selling, moving to retainer, setting up crafting window, etc?)
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
Yea, everything. No more confirmation windows either. Equipping gear, inventory, it's all just as fast.

It used to be the trigger buttons for me to change tabs, but now they changed it the shoulder buttons.

Click on any item in your inventory and it will bring up 6 options. One of the options is Toggle Sort.
And there you go.
