My thoughts of the game.

Well ladies and gents, I've decided I need to say somethng about Vindictus because of the negitive and positive reviews flying around.

I've been spending a good amount of time playing these last few days, and I have to say it's honestly not a bad game, and worth trying in my opinion. Truthfully the game won't be for everyone, and even some friends of mine don't like it, mainly because it's more for people who like action battles and less open world gaming.

Vindictus is a change of pace from the normal everyday MMO, and for those of you who are like me and have been playing MMO's for years now hopefully will enjoy this game. It uses the Half-life engine, so pretty much you can pick anything up and use it to kill anything. Like using a box to cripple a boss so your team can take it out for example.

The leveling is easy as hell for what I can tell, and is nice for me because I don't get a lot of playing time and its great to get on and get a few levels before I hit the sack.

There is a cash shop, but from what I've seen it doesn't effect the game at all, and is only used for fashion and vanity. Which for me is nice because I'm not spending money on a free game. To get gear you have to craft it all, and it goes the same for weapons. But to craft you have to get the gear off bosses first.

Bosses are very epic, and are a tough fight if you take them on alone, mainly because you can only take a few hits or you'll die unless your dressed in heavy plate armor and can take a punch from a hammer the size of 5 men. But it's a nice system to me because I like dodging the swings and trying to take them out.

The game is worht trying and if anything I would love to see people give it a shot! If it's not for you then thats great, more power to you. But you never know, it may become another great game you'd enjoy!

The game isn't fully out yet, and only has three of hte 5 classes out. It can also be upgraded and updated a lot. I'm not saying its a perfect game and will kill other MMO's, in my opinion the only thing that kills MMO's are the companies that create them.

So in the end, I think its a great game, and when it's fully out it should be great! I'm willing to keep playing and wait it out.

If you wanna try it out hit me up in game! Im on the east server and my character are - Kaiti, Naimine(I think theres an "i" next to the "a" haha if not take it out), and Creos. I'm mainly on Kaiti and Creos because I like them better.

Thanks for reading folks and please feel free to comment on it if you like it. if you don't then comment too, just be respectful :) I'd love to hear your opinions too.

Peace,

Zathos.

I played it for a few hours last night.

It can't be judged vs.other MMOs. There is almost no world at all. The closest AAA title I can compare this game to is early DDO. You have your town, with your basic services and quest givers and all the quests take place in instanced dungeons, which can be repeated. It's shared world is even more limited than early DDO, however, since they don't even offer the pretense that these various dungeons are spread about the town, each with their own entrances. Here, you get a quest, then you head to the docks and there are boats that give you access to your quests.

So, this is not at all an explorers game and 99% of your game play will be in instanced dungeons.

Now, is this a bad thing? Not if you judge the game completely on it's own, rather than holding it to a normal MMO standard.

Yes, it very limited in scope. Yes, there are very few classes and they are all gender locked. Yes, avatar customization is extremely limited. Yet, I still had fun playing it!

Graphics are nice. Combat in more Action game than RPG. Left and Right mouse buttons, combined with tactical movement and dodging accounts for most of combat. There are some skills you may have on your task bar, but nothing spammable, they need to be used with some thought and attention. There are combos. The combat was fun so far and a nice change of pace.

The interface is pretty well put together (a lot better than FFXIV at the moment). Quests are where the entire game is at, but there isn't the run around you get with traditional MMOs. Grinders can still grind, as killing is pretty much what most of the quests are about and they can be repeated.

There is an interesting crafting system that seems to expand as you play. No grinding to level it up, though. Once you open up a tier of recipes (I believe based on your level and maybe your progression through the quest lines), you just bring the proper mats to the proper NPC and they can craft the item for you. (Mats come from drops).

It's a good game for those who want something they can just hop into and get right to the action. You can expect to complete most of the early quests in 20 minutes or less and with no travel time, it's easy to fit the game into a limited time budget.

I don't know how long it will hold my attention and to be fair, it's probably not going to be a main MMO for most MMO fans, but I did have fun playing and had to make myself stop for the night, as I found it pretty addictive. :)

(Note: The cash shop doesn't seem to be too bad at this point, mostly cosmetic stuff and a few play enhancing items, but anyone who has followed F2P games in the space at all knows that many games that look good in the early phases can get pretty ugly real fast with bad changes to cash shop strategies. So long term? Who knows...)

This game wasn't for me personally. I could see it being good for other people though.

I do believe if you want to play more than X amount of dungeons a week you have to pay though. I could be wrong.

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

Armors and Weapons are unlocked by the Dungeons you complete. For exemple, defeating Gnoll Chieftain for the first time will unlock the Crimson Rage and Witch sets and a few weapons.

As for the Cash Shop. It pretty much remains the same as it is. Mainly new avatars will be introduced as time goes, but nothing that will ever make a cash shop user better than a non-user in terms of ability to accomplish missions.

Can't seem to find the video for some reason but it was posted somewhere by a user. The video is one of the KR version's new trailer for Ep.6 or 7. Crafting system seems to go under a bit of change where you won't need to visit an NPC to repair, and the world seems to open up a little where you can leave Colhen (exit is next to the Magic Laboratory, although currently disabled for NA) where you end up in a larger world. But I'm not quite sure how does that larger area works since the KR version went over it very quickly, and I don't understand Korean...

DDO is a good example of this game.  In fact it feels much like DDO did some time ago when it first came out.  Graphics and physics are similar although source engine does it better.  Short and to the point:  It is a doable game that can be fun.  The gold spam is bad though, I can't believe how much there is considering I haven't seen a need to purchase a single item in game.
