All is not well at the offices of Blizzard China. Last week a large data breach occurred which saw financial data, media packages, commercial budgets, global subscriber details, and worst of all–the road map for future game releases all taken.
Here’s the road map that is now widely available:
As well as giving competitors a clear timetable to which to compete against, it also reveals a new game called Titan.
The fallout from this data breach is Blizzard’s General Manager for China, one Ye Weilun, has either left or been kicked out, but the reports suggest a resignation. We don’t know the details of how the leak occurred, but his departure could either be directly linked to the breach, or because it was allowed to happen in the first place.
For the moment, Blizzard has set in motion an internal investigation with Global COO Paul Sams arriving in Shanghai this week.

Matthew’s Opinion
For gamers, this isn’t bad news at all. We get to see when Blizzard plans to release new games and updates, plus we also see a brand new game on the horizon called Titan.
For Blizzard, it’s a big problem. The game launch windows are an issue as it gives competitors an advantage. But when it’s combined with the media package information it could cause some upset in the advertising and marketing world. If Blizzard is advertising X on date Y, then competitors can counter that at the appropriate time.
One thing that is a little concerning is the subscriber data that was included in the leak. Hopefully this was just usage statistics and not credit card and login details. If it was then I think Blizzard would have already done something to protect its millions of customers by e-mailing with forced login changes etc.
With Paul Sams visiting China this week we could see a more public acknowledgement from Blizzard as to what has happened and how things are changing at the Chinese offices.

If Blizzard actually had any real competiion in the MMORPG world I suppose they might be concerned.
Interesting news however, and it was only a matter of time before the info got out somehow.

Funny how ppl already trying to exploit this information. Check out titanmmorpg.com, lol
It ends up with a link to some swtor guild...
Didn't see any subscription details, this is a great chance to correlate what they say, to what it actually is, maybe we can lay the "actual subscribers vs subscribers including passive accounts" debate.
Titan is most likely not a title name, but the name of the project. I don't know if many people realize this.
Correlate this.

Oh, yes, Titan must be a Sci-Fi MMO...
Or wait, maybe it is based on Greek mythology instead. Or anything else for that matter.
Sure, it can be about the moon Titan. Or about a huge spaceship. Or about superheroes. Or about more or less anything with really strong people or huge things in.
You assume a lot of things....

You do realize you added nothing to the discussion and made yourself look quite ignorant?
The general consensus is that the next MMO from Blizzard will infact be of the Sci-FI genre, based off the articles and information released thus far from their reps. The OP was simply connecting the dots on newly released information. It's called a theory...
I wanted to mention "perhaps a Greek mythology theme?"; but thanks to having to recover my username and password, Loke666 beat me to it. It's a good thing too... excellent post!
That is just speculation, no leaks or actual information have said a single word about Sci-Fi.
But please feel free to link to anything that is not speculations. Ignorant is to assume something you have no idea about, not question the "general consensus".
No one has any idea what Blizzards next mmo will be as even they have kept that info tight lipped. Just because the word Titan appears to be on the sheet does not mean anything refering to anything scifi.
Exactly my point.
Why do peoples correlate the name titan with sci-fi anyway?
Maybe they'll do Titanic online.
However, deep down, you really do believe it's sci-fi. come on, just admit it...
No clue.
Blizzard have made historical/mythological games before as well, like those lost vikings so either something like that, Sci-fi or fantasy is most likely based in Blizzard earlier games but even that is just a guess and nothing more.
Even if the name is correct it can still be more or less anything.
Titanic online hehe is that a freudian slip revealing some inner hopes that Blizzard will sink?
Anyways I think people just want a decent sci-fi mmo and think or hope Blizzard could pull it off.Even though titan could be and is fantasy related too hence Clash of the Titans we dont need any more fantasy based mmo's, heres to hoping
They've said very few things, but they have told us that a) It's a new IP, not based on previous game. And b) they do not believe it will compete with WoW. Another fantasy mmo would compete with WoW... where sci-fi would target a different market.
Would not be surprised if it was a Starcraft MMO. Saying it's a new IP could be interpreted in different ways and could be teasingly misleading, deliberately done by Blizzard.
Hopefully titan is the First person shooter MMO I believe was mentioned by blizzard to be a future project.
Most likely. That's the purpose of codenames after all. To confuse peoples and make them gossip for totally different stuff.
I don't know if I would like a starcraft mmo though. Never been a fan of the series.
It is a baffling puzzle, they license a top end game engine, but then they buy a bumbling Redneck Rampage franchise,go figure. So maybe they wanted higher tech using a time saving already premade game engine but are going to use the RR game as a base design model. It sort of fits Blizzards trend, the cartoony looks, all their games have it.
Was there not also some talk about hiring a couple former COD employees and Ea was trying to lure them away?If so would tell me a shooter is somewhere in the works for sure. Also Blizzard at one time owned 30% of infinity ward, they helped fund that group that brought us the famous COD series,so i think Blizzard knows what kind of money is lurking there.
Ok found the part about EA/Blizzard and COD.Those two were somehow fired because of Blizzard, they then claimed Blizzard witheld royalty payments.Something really fishy going on in Blizzard,Infinity ward should have been a separate entity from Blizzard, but sounds like Blizzard has someway gained control of what goes on there.
This all leads me to beleive they are getting into the fps genre in a big way, hoping to rid them of competition by geting the main guys from Infinity ward fired.I still beleive the RR purchase also had something to do with their plans.after all,why buy it if no plans to use it?
Blizzard is known for copying,CnC copy,EQ copy ,why would they not be looking at the richest selling franchise COD and trying to figure a copycat of that game?
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
This is exactly what I have been thinking for quite some time. Personally, I believe it's in their best interest. A Starcraft MMO could dip in an already deep pool of fans. That kind of transition from RTS to MMO did very well for Blizzard the first time around, why not use the same formula?
