Diversity; What floats yer boat?

I've seen all sorts of people that are active players of MMO's, and a successful MMO attracts as many different types of player as possible.

I thought I'd make a list of all the different types of player that I can think of.

1)RAID'ers: Primary focus - to get through the general content as fast as possible, mainly wanting to run through end game content getting cool gear.

2)Quest'ers: Primary focus - to complete every quest possible in the game. They'll continue completing quests even if the quests are greyed out for their level.

3)Altaholics: Primary focus - to try every class combination possible.

4)PvP'ers: Primary focus - To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

5)Crafters: Primary focus - to hunt out recipes, gather materials, and build items for profit.

6)Auctionhouse Entrepeneurs: Primary focus - to monitor the AH and buy and sell for profit

7)Fashionistas: Primary focus - to gain armor/clothing and create a massive wardrobe of various outfits

8)Explorers: Primary focus - to see every possible place the game allows them to see, and hopefully a few the designers didn't

9)Mob grinders: Primary focus - to occupy their time killing every mob that they see, in the never ending quest for more loot.

10)Socialites: Primary focus - to be known and recognized. They love the social aspects of MMO's, and everything they do is really driven by the social aspect. They like taking part in what others are doing.

11)Soloists: Primary focus - to find things to do alone, abhorring anything group related.

12)Goldfarmers/Bots/Spammers: Primary focus - to do everything they can to destroy the game for everyone else, and hopefully make a profit.

I am primarily a 7 & 3 with a little 1 & 2 thrown into the mix.

EDIT:  13)Role-Player: Primary focus - to immerse themselves into the game/character as much as possible

10 and 3, although I hate alts (which is why I don't play games that use that excuse of a mechanic to try other classes).

I am also a cooperator, if the game encourages it.

Seriously though, if you're not 10, what's the point of MMO's? It's not like the gameplay is ever "holyshitgood", the graphics are bland, and the games are grindy. Single player games would work much, much better.

I love that you quoted Conan the Barbarian.

To answer your question, I am (in order) a quester, RPer, explorer, and altoholic.

    In order of importance:

    a) many diverse and cool races & classes

    b) much to explore

    c) TONS of fashion

Here's what's most important to me in an MMO:

    Social recognition in a community

Perfecting strategy, eamwork, and tactics, as well as my own skill level

Varied, competetive and challenging combat (or whatever's the "key activity" of the game)

Immersion, in all ways possible but perhaps most importantly with regards to my character and the world around him

    Not necessarily in that order.

Most of the above depending on mood and as long as they are all equally available to do anytime.

You're right, you are what you are. I guess I was looking for insight into what other people found enjoyable. It's proven that there are so many different aspects to what draw people to a game, and I just wanted to see what other people thought.

I find that I keep trying new mmo's, maybe lasting as long as a year or so with each. I just come to a point in time where I want to play something new, and that the previous game does not sate my needs.  So I move on, but at the same time I wish I wasn't abandoning my efforts, and feel like I'm saying a final goodbye to an old friend.

So while I was soul-searching on what I wanted in my next mmo, I thought I'd ask what others want.
