I re-activated my account on Saturday. I re-installed the game with no problem, I simply went to my account page on NC soft and downloaded directly. Had no patching problems. I logged into the game and saw the extra security (hope it works). Logged into my 35 sorc and tried to see what I was doing when I last quit.
I looked at my quest log so that I could see what quests I was doing when I left. I ended up questing in Morheim and grinding a bit in the abyss for some AP. I played for probably 8 hours total over the weekend and was able to gain 16 mil xp (1 lvl). From what I can remember, this is faster from when I played a year ago. I never remember getting close to a million xp for a single quest. I probably could have lvl’ed faster, but I was remembering how to play the game and explored some old areas to get my bearings.
I read a post about some pvp problems and wanted to address those too. While playing, I had a few pvp experiences. I was ganked twice by clearly higher lvled players who 1 shotted me. This is to be expected since I was in the abyss. I also got my first pvp kill of my return. Had a nice 1v1 with a cleric. I also did a [spy] quest which I found to be very enjoyable.
I travelled to Elyos and found a player solo’ing some mobs. I engaged in a 1v1. I don’t remember what class they were, but it was an even match for a couple minutes. The match then turned into a 1v2 and after a few minutes, a 1v5. This was most enjoyable. While I never killed any of them, I got a couple low and it took them over 20 minutes to kill me. (ice sheet is your friend)
I never really had any problems finding pvp in Aion. Of course I haven’t played in a while so I might change my opinion. I played UO for many years, so I have a different mind set when it comes to pvp. I don’t rely on instances all that much, but having played wow and WaR, I have grown to appreciate instanced combat. The big difference I find in instanced pvp vs open world pvp, is the rush. Getting a kill in open pvp feels so much better than getting a kill in an instanced match. Overcoming a gank or seeking revenge on a player who ganked you can be a huge rush. Its these reasons that I like Aion.
Overall, the game is definitely better than when I left it. I seem to be leveling faster and I did get quite a few nice mat drops. I look forward to the next week for more enjoyable experiences.

Played for about 3 hours last night. Got 10 mil xp. Half way to 37 Can't wait to see what the solo instance is like.
Yup, 2x xp for the entire free period and added content. Was a real nice surprise to see an added area for 18-22.
Make games you want to play.

Started doing the solo instance for 37-44. Pretty nice. 4 named bosses and if you skip 3 of them and just fight the 1 big boss you have a chance for a rare drop. If you fight all 4 named bosses (all at the same time, FUN!) you get some pretty decent drops too. I'm almost 38 and each run seems to be filling half my xp bar (13 mil xp at this point). There is also some unique item attacks in the instance along with some unique buffs. Overall, lots of fun. I've been putting in around 3-4 hours a day and gaining about half a lvl a session as I approach 40.
