Old player comming back for a bit

exestenz69exestenz69 Member Posts: 121

Well guys Ive decided to come back to darkfall for a bit. Use to play on EU server way back at release. In the process of seeing if they are still doing the acct transfers now. Do they still do that BTW? I remember something about them offering it when NA went live. I know the guild i ran were debating on weather we would switch or not as we were smaller than most of the zerg and were not able to take a city ourselves. I had allot of fun the first time, but PCSing sorta knocked a hole in my DF career. In short i didnt have time to run my guild anymore.

Well anyway enough on that Ive decided to come back and give it another go this time on NA. Ive been reading up on all the changes lots of stuff we wished for back at the beginning , lots of stuff that sorta ... meh. My only gripe i ever had with DF was that there were never really any factions. No reason to PVP other than just to do it.  Old DAoC player here to i simply love the idea of a faction system for DF , but something that never got put in i guess. Anyway any of you old EU players out there on the NA server now?

My time spent in darkfall was pretty successful we held a small hamlet in wolf land directly north of where the mercs held a chaos city and macrod all the time. Used to run down there allot and smak em around a little LOL until they REALLY gota ahead of us in skills. Once they got there skills macrod it was kinda just fun to go screw with them for a while to interrupt there majoring. For the life of me i cant remember the name of the guild bleh we used to cause quite a bit of trouble though.

One of the best things we used to do after i made a raft. Mind now this is WAY back b4 ships were even being considered to be made as the cost was INSANE, way back before the first warhulks etc. We would ride around on our rafts and just raid different chaos cities and coastal cities of there macroers.  I don't think any of us ever got our skills maxed in the 6 months i played , but we had a dam good time playing lol.

ANYWAY enough with the reminiscing , any of you tell me do they still do the NA transfers? IF so any pretty good guilds out there willing to give a leg up to an old player. Ill probably restart a toon as my old orc i probably wouldn't remember how to play him though i might just see what i left in his bank.

You probably want to hold onto your toon for the stat gains. However, skill-wise you would pass up your old toon in less than a month.

There are some racial wars but its more open PVP/sandbox style. Organize more if you want more. http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=267909

    Welcome back!

Not sure about the transfers. I know they still do them but I hear its a lot more difficult than it used to be because they are trying to catch those who bought an account online or those transferring just to change their name.

Meh ive just decided to start fresh on the NA server. I looked at the server transfer and then the month fee i would have to pay in order to reactivate the account on top of waiting a day or so till they get the toon over for about 24$ its just not worth for 30 days of gameplay. I see they have the 14 day trial and then there selling a months worth of playtime PLUS the client for about 30$ and it just makes more sense to start fresh than fool with all the transfer crap. Plus this way i get 15 more days for about 6$ more.

Think i might do an elf this time. ill probably set up another guild just like the last 1 and spend all my time stealing and raiding macroers har har. Anyone ever follow that guy that did all the bank ripoffs from the Scarry bad guys guild? if not you can catch it here

Well Ive finished my first day back in darkfall. I took a sunday no work wife/kids gone so i spent about 8 hours back in DF. Got to say up front whats with all the bitching about the grind? In this short amount of time ive managed to raise almost every skill i used above 30

    Swimming

    Running

    sprinting

    Logging

    2h swords

    1h swords

    jump

    Lesser magic

    mana  missle

All of those are above 30 not to include many of the other skills were above 20 except the crafting skills as i didnt spend any time crafting just a bit o logging and mineing for the noob quests. Managed to save up 3kg and get a nice stockpile of enchant mats aswell as quite a bit of noob gear. Mostly cloth but a bit of leather to. All of this stuf came from the mobs in the quests.  Managed to get a full set of crafting tools from these quests aswell.   Ran into a couple of PKs in the noob area managed to kill 1 and take his shiney by knocking him out the treehouse , the other wooped me  and took my stuff , but so what thats part of the game and i didnt loose anything that i could not replace fairly quickly.

As far as the excuse that the stats are a grind .. why? you get debuffed down to 0 when they fight you anyway so why worry about it lol. I would go so far as to say that the gear grind shit that suffices for an end game in WoW is FAR worse than any so called grind for stats. I think all the people bitching about a grind really need to sit back and look at the different games on the current market and then take a look at some of the older games such as EQ untill you figure out exactly what a grind is come back and see me. Yes back when i first played DF the skill gain was slow , but dam now i think its WAY to fast. At t his rate playing maby 2 hours a day except on weekends as i get to ill have max every skill in a couple weeks. As ffar as stats go i dont even care they will go up when they go up.

LOL yeah the grind has been decreased by a lot since you left. Remember when it used to take 2-4 weeks of active play just to get the 2nd mana missile ring? hehe

1 month old toon came with me yesterday to PVE and it felt the same as having another vet with us almost. He is already at almost 300hp after only 1 month! Times have changes in lots of ways. All of the grind is now getting from 75 to 100 in skills and 60-110 stats.

I would definitely agree that WoW is a bigger grind for some people. I haven't been forced to grind in DFO yet besides debuffing mobs for witchesbrew (about 8 hours total I think?) since I went with the melee spec. In fact, I havent really worked on my skills for almost a year now and my character is far from capped . ... but people don't kill me enough to make me think that I need to be any tougher.

I've been killed by people only 1 month into the game before so its silly for people to think that player-skill is not a factor because it is more than any other MMORPG that I have ever played. Welcome back!

p.s. it still takes years to cap a character but I think that this is a good thing because it makes the end game funner it seems.
