The Fee You Would Pay

theartisttheartist Member Posts: 553

So I'm avoiding the terms Free to Play and Donation based and all that.

The game's information is out there. People seem polarized by it's current generation technology.

Averaged to $USD by the way.

When the game released ideally what would you pay to play it?

Why would it be any different than 14.99 a month or slightly cheaper if you do more than a month at a time? 15 bucks a month is nothing. For the constant work they do on these games round the clock whether you like it or not.......the price threads/arguments just boggle my mind.

Wow Anet and guildwars make their game buy to play. Big effing deal does not mean everyone needs to do it at all.

Interesting results thus far, but I will say that regardless of how accurate this statement is, Rift "feels" like a themepark MMORPG made by a small development team with a limited budget that takes a mishmash of concepts done better elsewhere, throws them all into one game, then adds the overrated soul system.

That said, I think it's deserving of a monthly fee, but not one that's $15.00.

It's just a possible move to stand out in the market is all. If the game is very similar to others out there, but a few dollars cheaper- It'd be an economic business move.

I'm not for or against any particular payment model. I think they all can work well enough. It's just up to the company how they handle it.

Last I checked, Trion was an American company, so I would assume (as I think you do as well) that it is US dollars.

    Doesn't matter.

I mean 15.00 pesos is a lot cheaper than 15.00 yen which is ~ 15.00 USD

    Thar ya go.

Can't see me playing for a month or maybe two as it stands now so dosen't really bother me wha the charge is.

Wonder if anyone ever considered something like 19.99 for 2 months? It'd essentially be 10 bucks a month, but lock people in for a good bit of time.

$15 a month roughly translates to 50 cents per 24 hour play period. Thats nothing!  With the alternatives such as buy as you go, you end up really spending more in the long run.

It wont change from the $15 fee...thats standard, its fair, and its generally accepted by most.

    It used to be fair.

Now with everyone carbon copying one another.. If I won't pay 14.99 to play WoW, why would I pay 14.99 for WoW-lite? This not just pertaining to Rift by the way.

MMO Veterans, If you played WOW and WarHammer then Rift is not worth to buy. There's nothing new.

Nothing, I'll pass on Rift just as I passed on WAR.

I'm waiting on TERA for the new combat mechanic & arts

I'm waiting on SW:ToR to play it as KoTOR 3+

Going to buy GW2 to have an MMO I can play in between everything for a minimal cost over time.

Thats not an issue of price...since why would you want to pay anything, even it were free, for a game you clearly wouldnt enjoy to begin with?

Just because you are not part of a games target audience, doesnt mean its not fair. I miss classic depth oriented gaming also but I wont expect every game fits my preferences.

I feel bad for gamers like this, cant enjoy anything unless its all shiny and new, heres a newsflash, amny of the best games out there? arnt all that unique, and borrow the best elements from other games.

thi is a fact of any industry, get over it.

Besides, since when did doing something new = good? i could make a game where you play as a piece of crap, and it would be new, but would it be good? no. meanwhile us real gamers will go enjoy the fun games that dont need shiny new gimmicks to get people to play them, a good game is a good game whether the game mechancis are brand new or 20 years old/
