There are a lot of good looking games expected to release next year. But before we get there, what was your best gaming experience of 2010?
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
Comments
2010 for me:
Tried Aion = not good!
Tried going back to Warhammer online = bad idea!
Tried Lotro = boring as hell!
Tried Star Trek online = wtf have they done to the IP?
Tried going back to Vanguard = great game, so much fun! But so empty that I didnt resub. Shame tho, really like it, except the fact that there's no pvp (wich was the reason I left in the first place)
Tried going back to Guild Wars = awesome game, but I kinda lost touch to it and didnt have the energy to get back into it. Also my guild didnt want to join me... left again after a short time
Tried going back to DaoC = whats with this oldtimer game? It's so much fun, out guild actually played it for most of 2010 and we had so much fun! lvled 3 chars to 50, 2 of them hit the 7l0 mark before I quit again. This was on a classic freeshard tho, leveling was hard and slow, but so worth it!
But anyways... My best gaming moment this year was:
Playing Guild Wars 2 on gamescom in Cologne!!
Jesus, it was so polished and fun, I spent about 3 hours ingame combined and would have spend a lot more time, if it wasnt for all these 15 years olds next to me asking stupid questions. If ANet can pull this one off, I wont have to look for a new game for quite a while!
Best Moment for me in 2010 was playing Vindictus for the first time.
And I thought I had a bad year
kidding mate, I'm downloading it as I write... looks fun!
Best moment was leaving WOW and never looking back.
Re-installing Diablo 2.
I spent most of 2010 on the forums waiting for new games.. pretty sad year
EVE
Playing - EVE, Wurm
Retired - Final Fantasy XI, Anarchy Online, Mabinogi
Waiting - ArcheAge, Salem
I'd sadly have to say the Steam sales over the holidays that offered a lot of great deals on (some) older games and indie games that I'm enjoying immensely right now.
For MMOs... ummm... maybe something good will happen next year?
Participating in Zentia's closed beta. It's clean, cleverly designed, and a lot of fun.
I had a blast playing it.
I did'nt play much this year.
2 games i liked.
Iris Online :
Not bad at all. However too many zoning, little zone and difficulty to find group at hig level. And very item mall dependent specially for upraging gear.
After lv45 i had an overdose of daylies quest ^^
Rift : Plane of Telara :
A big mix of great mmorpg concept. Why not, i like classic mmorpg. At the moment beta is going well. I wait for high level content to has definitive opinion.
I was playing Aion since October 2009 but during Jan, Feb and March I was having a blast playing Aion.
April - May I was beta testing StarCraft 2 (Fun!)
June is World Cup
July Red Dead Redemption and StarCraft 2
August and September Project 1999, playing EverQuest Classic (still playing)
October and November back to aion, patch 2.0 was great but once 2.1 was released I quit.
December still playing EverQuest Classic in Project 1999 + Beta Testing Rift and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.
So, in short the only game that was released in 2010 that I enjoyed was StarCraft 2.
Still older games offer better game play (EverQuest Classic and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines).
Playing new games (whether MMORPG or Single player RPG) seems shallow in comparison. But fortunately the RTS genre is still offering good options. Unlike MMORPG genre.
my was FF XIV and yah i like that game. i do wish they added more leves and more stuff to do cuz my schedule goes like this:
1) login FFXIV for 1 hour and 30min and do my 8 leves
2) logout and login on WOW and lvup my worgen ( starting a new char and leaving my 80s alone) until i had enough
3)login maplestory and continue the GRIND until i get a headache
4) turn off my computer and watch TV
For me there is only one moment. When my Female Sheperd blasted the end boss to the ether and the end cinematic was playing. (ME2)
The end music + cinematic was just digital nirvana.

Informing people about your thoughts and impressions is not a review, it's a blog.
My definitely best gaming moment this year was playing Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines again, with the newest patches.
Damn good game.
I still didnt managed Romeos graveyard quest, though.
BFBC2 <- game of the year
Rediscovering NWN2 still has very active persistant worlds
Fallout New Vegas
Super Meat Boy

Was happy LOTRO went F2P but discovered i am to burned on it to play
Sorry no good MMOs
BF:BC2 here also by far game of the year IMO other games I have enjoyed this year
Beat Hazard
FM11
Pro Evo
DA:Ultimate
My best gaming moment of 2010. *grins*
So I first played mincraft I was just learning the ropes. Its was an odd kind of fun that grew on me. I started with a cave in the side of a moutian. Finally got brave and built my first outpost. Even made a cellar and a path to the ocean where I kept a boat.
I had just spent my 6th night fighting zombies through the windows and doors. Suns up and I'm safe. Its quiet. Only sound of my breathing and me closing and opening doors.
SSSSssssssss BOOOM! Scared the living shit out of me. Scared me bad enough I laughed for a goot twenty minutes afterwards. Blew the crap out of my living room area of my outpost. front wall, doors, windows, gone. I has been platying for about 7 hours at this time.
The basturd had snuck in from my basement.
Best experience and biggest surprise - Perpetuum PvP is fantastic fun.
Took me quite awhile to buy Dragon Age, but I did buy it a month ago. I'd say that it was the best new game moment for me, classic epic BioWare quality.
Well, about MMOs, I rediscovered LotRO when it went F2P, and been enjoying it so far, although I've been playing as a subscriber for most of the time, haha.
I second BC2. No good new MMO's this year at all.
playing the hell out of vietnam with my new 570
mmm pizza
Red Dead Redemption
Best in the mmo catagory were Vindictus and DC Universe Online. Both fairly recent, unfortunetly rest of the year was spent game hopping and was pretty slow.
Had been waiting for Vindictus for well over a year before getting into the EA Beta, even after all that time it still didn't disapoint me.
Just got into the DCUO ps3 beta on the 17th (thx mmorpg.com!), it's been a lot more fun than expected, and quite honestly wasn't something I ever planned on trying out since I don't do subs anymore, but really glad I got the chance test it out.
Not to mention the ps3 beta needs a lot more testers and far less players (people are more worried about keeping their characters, complaining about expected beta issues like server stability/etc, griefing/pvping at lvl cap instead of going back through the content again, the list goes on and on..), and since I throughly enjoy the testing/breaking beta aspect it's made that "job" feel a little more important to do with only about half the population contributing (half is a generous estimate too)
Playing ping-pong on the wii was a great laugh and nice attempt to try to emulate the real thing. This was the only thing that really impressed me in 2010 other than playing retro games.

2 worlds II, it has online features that I have missed from other rpgs. Amazing improvement from the first one and cheap too.
