I remember about this time hanging in the caverns that held all the golems to farm for motes to make my amuli armor and rolling mobs with my frankenbow and my recently acquired mote built cestus with the fire crystal attached.
Still the most fun I ever had in a game.. farm for days to get parts for an awesome weapon to farm for more days to get parts for an awesome set of armor only to have to convince folks to travel with you to wicked dungeons just to get the crystals to fit in the awesome gear. Guilds mattered and death and pvp had actual consequence.
Then DAOC and AO launched within mere months of each other and my guild broke up.. Most went to DAOC and I went to AO.
Didn't see the bulk of them again until AC2
AC for me here.
Same thoughts that Akais had.
I like the modern day games, but miss some of the old times.
Asherons Call.... older fx but no game is deeper in lore, challenging, able to move out of the way of magic and arrows, quests were mysterious and having to use your head, deep dungeons you actually got scared in!!! cause you could die and have to actually go back and find your body... literally thousands of square miles and well over hundreds of dungeons ... you had to jump to get thru some of them... special protection to even get thru some of them lockpicking door levers timing maneuvers.. NO game even comes close to this today... ALL games today are on easyIcantextmakeasandwichgrabadrinksnooze mode....games today are find "!" gather all that you can without reading and hit the "M" go to that area... kill this many go back to "?" ridiculious... actually thinking of going back to chk it out... played that game AC for over 4 years and havent found a game even close to what it offers
Ten years ago today I would have been playing EverQuest. In fact I think the Velious expansion would have only been out for a week or two at this point so there was a bunch of new stuff to explore.
I didn't start playing MMOs until 2003. I was in the Lineage 2 open beta and played at release.
When I read about MMOs and how they had a monthly fee I thought it was ridiculous to have to pay to play. Once I played Lineage 2 my mind was changed. I've been hooked on MMOs ever since.
A mix of Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds and Ragnarok Online. I would give anything to go back to those days. I had a lot more fun back then than I do now. Makes me sad.
Playing - Minecraft, 7 Days To Die, Darkfall:ROA, Path of Exile
I would have been playing Kingpin:Life of Crime with my MMO career not starting until 2002 and early Planetside and SWG beta's with my first purchased MMO being Planetside at launch and then SWG a month or 2 later.
Legend of Mir 2 untill i got in on the Daoc closed alpha test and was there right up untill the 2nd expansion pack release. After that it was the odd game and a few open/closed beta tests before again settling with one and have been in that for the past 6yrs (but the time is to again find a new one and move on).
When there were only just a couple mmo's on the game list 10 years ago today do you recall which mmo you were playing? for me it was everquest 1, they were still rolling out expansions like crazy, and may have been on scars of velious by this time, I was also playing graal online on the 2k1 server bomy moon. i remember quitting both eq1 and graal in 2001 on 9,11,2001. Sad times hard to believe it's been so long ago already, and look at how big the game list has grown...
MMO's that were out 10 years ago today list;
Neverwinter Nights Online (AOL)
Meridian 59
Furcadia
The Realm
Tibia
Hostile Space
Asherons Call
Ultima Online
Nexus: kingdom of the winds
Graal Kingdoms
Legend of Mir
Lineage
Everquest
Clan Lord
The 4th Coming
Dark Ages
Ogre Island
Ferion
Underlight
I was playing Everquest and a play-by-mail game.

6 months from then I would be looking at EQ on the shelf and spot a Sci-fi MMORPG that would consume the next 4 years of my life...
------- END TRANSMISSION
Sadly i didnt start mmos until 2002 with the Release of Earth & Beyond ( September 24, 2002 ) it was an epic time.
