also wow has bgs and its not a fail game. So I still think this game could end up pretty good even with bgs.
It just has to make its end game better than what warhammer online had.
I thought warhammer online instance battle grounds. To be rather fun and not of what killed the game. What killed warhammer online, was rather the end game and city battle and only allowed to open pvp in tier 4 to what has killed that game.

1.) Wow is extremely linear and having a open world does not remove this aspect from wow or any other level based mmo.
2.) Open world does not mean open pvp or even good open world pvp..see WoW or WAR online outside of pvp rule-set servers as an example.
3.) WAR's atrocious PVE content was just as much a reason for its failure as was its broken pvp and game play.
4.) Wow is successful first and foremost for its pve and pvp is second to that success but in no way does wow have meaningful open world pvp or are BG's the main draw for most people in Wow. In fact for many folks BG's killed the fun of open world pvp possibilities in WoW.
The best current open world pvp outside of pvp servers in wow is actually a zone based scenario area in Wintergrasp in Northrend and that gets old fast.
In the end this is going in the same route WAR took and that is to attempt to be a WoW clone.
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
I am not sure this was a class interview more a race of Man interview.
Well it certainly looks dark, the early screens had Space Marines in pastel coloured suits. Yes I know that’s very lore but if you want to emphasis dark having SM in pink armour is not the thing to do.
How are they going to balance SM against Imperial Trooper say? I thought they might have SM as a sort of Monster Play where you became a SM when you went into top level battlezones. Or maybe we are all going to be SM?
Mmmm Warhammer 40k MMO. As long as they dont do a retarded move like Mythic and have 2 factions, Order vs Destruction. How trite and broken for a world such as Warhammer to condense it into 2 sides.

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt...
Anyways, I'm looking forward to this game.
The only thing that made me raise an eyebrow is how he put a lot of attention on "Black Templar Space Marine." Not simply Space Marine, which leads me to believe you're going to be forced into a Chapter. While I don't agree with that, if there's one chapter I would play, it's Black Templar.
It would appear that they're going with a theme much in the same vein as Forgeworld and their Imperial Armour Series. IA 12 focuses on Space Wolves vs Eldar, if I recall so putting a lot of attention on to a single chapter could be managable.
So what we have here is the following.
Combo FPS/TPS and MMO, Vehicles complete with physics where buddies can jump in and go to town, Open world battlegrounds, already confirmed instanced scenarios, typical MMO flair of missions/quests, etc..
Sounds like it could be a winning combination. Especially if the vehicles are fun. We may have a successful successor to PlanetSide.

Yeah it sounds great. However, dont rely on this game being FPS at all. It's a hybrid at most so it wont be like planetside i dont think, it is much more MMORPG than that.

Well, they already confirmed some TPS shooting action. Maybe not FPS, but TPS is close enough. Being able to load up a vehicle with 4 buddies and go lay waste, even in Third Person Shooter Style, would be good enough.

Emperor's Children disagree, at least i find the idea of someone who would not only enjoy skinning me alive but who would also find it pleasurable pretty dark.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling" Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.
Why put BGs in a game based on a PvP setting, I hated WAR because I couldn't get open RvR groups going due to scenarios and now 40k is going to be an empty world with everyone BGing to max level. Yay! Let go play capture the flag instead of wrecking the enemy's fortress.

Well they better take it out now, skeaser doesnt like it so it shouldnt be allowed in games.
You know why you couldnt get open RvR groups in WAR? Its because the open RvR sucked ***, it was laggy, and the fortresses sucked, period.

Then maybe instead of creating capture the flag Mythic should have worked on keeps.
And I'm not saying that I have the 100% answer for a good game, I'm simply stating that I don't understand battlegrounds in a PvP/RvR game. Battlegrounds make sense for a primarily PvE game where it's just a sideshow, but if the draw of the game is killing the other guys, why do it in mini-game form?
The idea of battlegrounds and thier implementation is still in its infancy. Just like MMO PVP in general, I have yet to see an instance of battlegrounds that is spot on but I can see how they would work properly. In DAoC Darkness falls was opened to a certain side of the faction as soon as certain game consditions were met. Similarly, BGs could be opened based upon certain capture or other game conditions being met. This way, it remains the open world pvp that drives the pvp engine rather than BGs always taking front seat as they have in the few other games that contain BGs.

It's only a repeat (of the failure) if the devs fail at class/combat design (an important part of that being CC design.)
