For me it was the Xbox 360 because most of my friends play CoD on Xbox live. Yeah it cost's $50USD a year to play on Xbox live but their online service is far and away better than PS3...but PS3 is free.
I have both systems and they both have their pro's and con's though.
Ultimately it comes down to which console has more titles and features you'd use if you have to choose one.

If you're looking for free online play, definatly go with the PS3. The PS3 also offers Blu Ray along with it's beautiful games and HD screening. I got XBOX 360 last Christmas, and It's not as good as I thought it would be. But, if you're willing to pay, then go with XBOX, because their servers can hold much more then PS3's can.
Look through games that you want to play and see which ones are on which console.
360 no doubt
I would go with xbox 360, the network is outstanding on it with little service downtimes. Good marketplace and game on demand features. Ive also heard it rumored that the membership fees in 2011 will either be lowered or actually done away with.
Xbox 360 so you can play online with your friends because they don't have PS3s :P

Still, all I have is the XBox 360, so I can't compare. They both have Blazblue though. ^_^

Another thing the ps3 offers that the xbox doesent is 3d gaming, just throwing that out there.
The PS3 doesn't break like the 360 evetually does. That is all you need to know when buying a console.
I'd say xbox 360 for sure the ps3 is sick but I love all the xbox live much more than the ps3 network.

Not sure why people keep saying Live is that much better than the PSN. I have both, played both, they're both fine. If you want an XBOX I'll sell you mine because I'm looking to get rid of it. I just play my PS3 now - less kids mainly, not every 11 year old has a mic. The community seems to be more mature on the PSN, better looking system + bluray. Easy enough for me anyway.
The 360 does do one thing better and that is the controller, otherwise it's made like garbage and looks like a brick. It also seems the PS3 might be pretty damn good in 11' title wise, but we'll see, especially since programmers are starting to "get it" when it comes to coding for the PS3. It's cheaper in the long run (PS3 - won't have to pay $50 a year for an online service and let Micro nickel and dime you on everything). The PS3 (well, did, still may) was better against hackers w/ their security (which was recently hacked though). Better then the 360 that has been hacked/hacking for years on end now.
My friend has gone through 2 PS3's in the same amount of time I've had my 360... Guess that blows your opinion out of the water. I also have 2 tween boys that put my XBox through a hell of a lot more abuse than he did either of his PS3's. When his last PS3 blew out he did himself a favor and got a 360. He's never been happier.

for me ps3 is still the best console... the development of this console have minimal breakdowns... and has best games that can only be seen this console...
i went with the xbox 360. i loved the xbox and the 360 is even better

I go for xbox360 due to its compatibel features with my laptop and pc. Well xbox360 is much cheaper and convenient to use. The new xbox360 jasper doesn't breakdown anymore i have one and i like it very much. There are many games in xbox rather than ps3 that i like.
PS3 also has good games that is exclusive to them like little big planet, killzone, demon souls, uncharted and heavy rain which gain the most popular games. I love PS3 due to its fine graphics tople it with LED Tv your gaming experience will be a top notch.
I'm not going to say which one is better because I've never even played a 360. I own a PS3 and really the only reason is because of God of War III. Seriously...that was a major tipping point for me. And yes...I do have other games for the PS3 but those are multi-platform so those are irrelavant. Had it come down to console vs console, I'd probably have gone with 360 only because it's cheaper.
For me PS3 is the best. why because it's new and i believe that the creator of that make a huge investment to upgrade all of it and make it more marketable in the public
Until they make a MGS4 for Xbox i say PS3 all the way. Missing on the best shooter ever isn't worth whatever the xbox may offer the PS3 doesn't. But that's highly subjective and personal.

If you want to have a cheaper bluray to watch movies and play game with it just go for PS3. They have most of the good exclusive games that I always wanted to play.
Well my friends have xbox360 jasper thats why i have my xbox360 with me. The cool thing about it when you have lots of friends is we go online and play a specific type of game with our headset on. We don't experience any lag when we play a game in xbox360. If you look for a console be sure that your friends have the same one so you will be having much fun in playing games.
For me it all goes down to game selection and for that the Xbox is way above. Just look at Mass Effect 2, it was released just last month on the PS3, what a joke.
I'll go for both because I have both of them. I just bought Xbox first due to my friends and other games that are exclusive on Xbox. The moment that Metal Gear Solid was exclusively released only on PS3 that made me decide to go buy this PS3. Well the units are worth buying due to its exclusive games and game contents. If you have the budget go for both you will not regret it.
I would say GO for xbox much better than PS3.
If I where you go for xbox360 jasper its much cheaper and after buying xbox get kinect, you will really enjoy the games there.
