hmm, over half the people in the beta say they are going to sub.  I think that is fairly good numbers considering the attitudes of a large portion of people on this site.

I've played in all three betas and have increasingly enjoyed each one.  Third beta utilised massive server wide rift events, where the rifts would spawn over the whole zone and raids formed to deal with them.  As with public quests in Warhammer, I really enjoy being part of a group endeavour which isn't just another dungeon run.  In rift, I like the randomness of the rifts, and the way they offer a choice over straight questing for levelling, although I guess most people will do both.

The flexibility of the soul system means that I am trying classes I never normally play, eg warrior.  I love riftblade which is a dps warrior, with elemental damage added for some nice effects.  Love mixing magic and melee, I always plumped for caster classes before because I like the magic, but I hate that glass cannon feel, so great to have a bit of magic in plate armour for a change ^^

So, to sum, the way the rifts lead naturally to spontaneous grouping and the flexibility and innovative aspects of the soul system mean I will certainly be subscribing.  Oh, and almost forgot, the communication between testers and devs/gms over on the forums and in-game has been great so far.  Trion even slotted in an extra beta in response to player demand, and then extended this beta for an extra 4 hours.  Pretty impressive, I reckon.

Decent game, should provide some fun for a while, will definitely be subbing but only until TERA/GW2 unless the game really pulls me in as I play.

Innovation. 8 years of stagnation shows.

It's going to show. The game is polished feeling because it's already aged before it's going to release.

Agreed a lot of companies have messed that up. But it's bottom rung impressive to copy the same ol' that's available with few hitches. I'm a painter, I love painting. I can paint a damn good Mona Lisa on a canvas twice the size of the original (it's actually quite smaller than you would think it) without even looking at a reference now. Am I a talented artist? Or am I able to mimic a good thing that's been done already?

I can sell that painting for a decent price, and have. But it doesn't feel like I contributed to my genre when I do so.

It's just me speaking; I think Rift is an okay game, but I'm not willing to pay the same money on it when WoW or WAR or even LotRO F2P have plenty of the same content. The setting isn't that impressive and their world design is truly the most liner design I've seen. It's just uninspiring to see any praise for someone doing the same ol' same ol'. It can be admired, but Rift doesn't deserve any praise.

I will most definitely be subscribing.  Having been in all of the Closed Betas, I'm having a great deal of fun playing with my guildmates and community.   Without a doubt, I'll be playing RIFT and having a blast doing so.

I can totally see your point. Since we already have so many good artists in the world, and they have already done so many great pieces of work. Well then there is no reason anyone else should even bother to try and paint anything even close to what they did. Hell, no way they could be better in the same style, or more engaging than one of those old guys from 200 years ago. Once its done its done, and everyone should just leave it that way. Hey, we can even do that with other things in life. You already have cars on the market, why make another car. Its always going to be just the same as every other car out there.

I'm buying this game, its fun. You think otherwise...well your just stupid.

(DISCLAIMER - The use of the word YOU in the above post is not directed at any one person in particular, but towards those who fall into the category itself - there is no personal attack here, neither intentional nor implied.)

I didn't say because of, but I bet you're willing to admit it's true.

And anyone saying otherwise is a liar. This game is a standard clone title. That's it. There's nothing more to it. It can be a well made clone title, clone title none the less. It's a hand holding on rail quest grind. That's it.

No, I really wouldn't.  Only because it's not true.  And Seriously, referencing your other posts, the word is spelled "linear" not "liner", sheesh.

I think if people like EQ2, WoW, Vanguard, etc. they will like this game. The rifts themselve are fun but I don't see them as being something that people will be drawn to leave their current game for...

Luckily, I have no current game. I'll be playing, but only while waiting for the plethora of new titles coming out.

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

I played the beta and voted no.  It seemed way too similar to Warhammer Online for my tastes.  Going to play DCUO when it comes out in a week and a half because I played that beta and it is something new and extremely fun.

  • ZekiahZekiah Member UncommonPosts: 2,483

I couldn't even bring myself to finish beta so no, I won't be buying this game. I have better things to do with my money and my time. image

I'm not stupid for avoiding a game that I've played already and is availiable on the market in a better form- already. You're a moron for paying for the same thing you've no doubt paid for prior.

If you think it's fun then you're easily entertained and fooled. Good job, you're on par with every other idiot out there. These lazy game companies love taking your money and they'll never innovate as long as the mass population of retarded dipfucks like you exist.

The game will do well on it's 10-20 k subscribers who are too stupid to realize they're just playing WoW in a different color. A mostly purple and dull green color.

It's alright.  Feels way too much like WAR (wonder why).

And it looks...weird.  I can't explain it.  And yeah, it feels like more of the same.  Still hanging my hopes on TOR, I guess.

    Playing:SW:TOR
    Played: A lot.
    Beta tested: Freaking everything.
    Looking forward to: Nothing.

played beta 2 and beta 3 and was just impressed, same like two of my mates who played beta 3. mega fun game at all aspects (pvp not tested, but i'm sure it's great like the rest of the game)

when this game is released we 3 are definitely ex-wow players, already pre-purchased :)

Thats so funny from the action face passed nonsense talk about all the new "action" mmorpgs. I´m an experienced Street Fighter II, III and KOF tournament player. This games are acturally fast paced with action and high skill requirement. And most of the so called pvp pros would never stand a chancebecause they have no real hand&eye and dex skill what is needed in such games. Not any single mmorpg will ever come to the action or skill needed in the fighting genre and i tried already C9 and vindictous and none of this fast paced action mmorpgs could convince me. When it goes about mmorpgs im gonna stay with the old prooven system

Played in the last beta event and I will be preordering and subbing.

  • CheriseCherise Member Posts: 232

I started out unsure and slightly disappointed in the first beta event.   You know you have all these expectations on how you think an MMO should be and tend to look for what's missing rather than what's there.  I started getting more into the class options and Rift invasions in the second beta.   But this last beta event I just had tons of fun.  Although it helped having a guild of friends to do things with.  Yeah there's some things they still need to address.   But in spite of some stuff they still need to work on, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I usually know for sure if I like something after a couple days, but Rift has sort of grown on me over time.  I definitely intend to sub.

  • ViewDooViewDoo Member Posts: 268

Gonna buy it, gonna sub it for as long as it's fun for me. I found it to be one of the most stable games I have ever played, in beta or out of it, and I have played a lot of em'.

    Maybe...

    1,1,1,1,1,2,1,1,1,1,1,3,1,1,1,1,1,2... combat needs some work.

So far the community seems to talk to each other and "care" a little bit about each other. Hopefully this continues, will be one of the main motivators for me to actually buy the game.

Forever looking for employment. Life is rather dull without it.
