After suffering through UO and WAR...If you thought SOE was bad...EA is worse. They treat you like abusive spouse does and charge you for it!

I'm praying Bioware is less of a puss and doesn't let EA push them around like Mythic did. I will try this game no matter what, but if its crap then I won't continue to play.
I will never understand the hate players have for certain companies. I only care for enjoying the game if it is good regardless of what company is behind it.
Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

All i can say is shame a company scared you away but each person has their own reasons for playing and not playing. Hope there is a game out there that you do like.
To me: Ea is just any other publishing company. They want money as soon as possible. To be fair though, i think seeing as it's still a target window date instead of a concrete one, they are giving BW a fair shake at it. BW is no pushover i'm sure, they at least to me have proven to be a very reliable company.
I'm unsure if it's Bw or EA who handles the calls of their customers so i'll leave that as is. I haven't really had a problem with an EA game enough to call them up.
Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

I have no EA scars and I love Bioware. Bioware= fun games. EA is the publisher. No impact to me whatsoever.

We'll just have to see won't we? I don't have the statistics, but we can assume that Bioware is a big money maker for EA and generally big money makers get special privileges from the publishers (products aren't rushed, more control over the products, etc). We can hope that EA only handles the advertisement end and leaves the gaming side to Bioware. However I have to admit that the way Mass Effect 2 nickle and dimed you for content was really irritating and we can blame EA for that. Things like that are always in the back of my mind.
From what it seems, EA is really only investing the money. I think even they know they cannot shove a powerhouse of a studio like Bioware around. Personally I dont think Bioware even needed EA as a publisher, I think it was just a safer avenue to go for them seeing this is their first MMO and it is a potentially great investment opportunity for EA, more of a symbiotic business deal than anything.

Well we'll just have to see won't we? I admit EA has a less then stellar reputation as a publisher, but on the other hand Bioware's Mass Effect games are great.
Not a smart reason to miss out on ONE OF THE BEST MMO.

I dont know about the UO thing since i dont play crappy 2D Graphics games. I do know that WAR Tanked A LONG TIME before EA started sticking their nose into it. Mythic promised to much for the game before they launched it. If your going to blame anyone for WAR tanking look towards its developer Mythic instead of EA. ABout EA(Im not a huge fan boy seeing most of their games are sports and sims) I have played a large portion of their games and when i needed help they didnt charge me for anything. I think your confusing EA for Microsoft. The worst companies to attach a game to are Microsoft, SOE, and Codemasters. Their typical response to a problem in game is "Its not our fault so it must be yours".

Never had any real issues with either of these companies and I have played most of the MMOs they have released.
I have never been an advocate of believing that I own an IP or game so when they have to make changes that maybe impact a game its not an issue to me.
I believe that your paranoia will result in you missing out on something phenomenal. Your loss our gain...

Bioware is nowadays just a EA daughter company (yeah EA owns the company)
So Bioware has grand future of making Mass effect 2012, 2013, 2015...etc etc or being merged to a company what will.
EA is known as destroyer of individual developer companies.
I guess you never played a Cryptic game. And if you have, and are still able to make that statment, then I don't know whats wrong with you.

You all can say what you wish... but the company behind the game DOES matter. The single most infamous example of this would have to be SOE and how they completely fumbled the SW IP.
SOE and the CU and then NGE events are all well documented... but seriously.... I damn near refuse to play anything by SOE based on how they f*cked that game up. I just don't trust them... at all. I don't care who crawls into bed with them to make a game.... after SWG, they can rott.
Call that short-sighted or whatever... but the companies track record matters. Saying that 'the game is all that matters' really only addresses part of the issue. Sure, you may like your game today, but the company running your game can 'ruin' your game at will (their will). I would rather play games made by companies that don't have track records of abusing their customer base like that.

Could not agree more. Edit: What SOE did to their fan base was unthinkable.. and they paid for it.
Everyone just wants to enjoy a good game.
Problem is that good games are developed gradually even after release. Bugs are fixed, classes balanced, exploits patched, new content rolled out.
Let's say a developer knows that a highly anticipated patch won't be ready for 4 months, but instead of telling their subscribers that and risk people canceling, they keep making short term promises that they can't keep, stringing their customers along so that they keep subbing for the next 4 months. This is the kind of behavior that players should remember because it's bound to happen over and over again.
If you want to live with your head in a hole and just game, then be my guest. But yes, there will be many things that you "will never understand".
Thank you for the kind words but i would rather live with my head in a hole and just game because for me gaming is just that..A GAME. if due to wrong or bad decisions of a company my enjoyment of game is ruined i would pack my bags and find a new game. God forbid not everyone treats MMOS as a second job or life investment.

Like the other guy said if the game is garbage I won't play it, but I am trying it out regardless of what you or any other random internet person has to say about it.
