And while Lucas was doing the abomination called Starwars for kids (or ep 1,2,3)
Bioware was doing KOTOR , which was best thing to happen to SW since the original films.
Now Bioware is not even near the quality it was in KOTOR days. But its still far away from Lucas arts crap storm.
Sigh, So uninformed. Lucas made Starwars for kids from the start, why do you think they added Ewoks in ROTJ?
And if Bioware is so bad, why did ME 2 when numerous game of the year awards?
What was for kids in 80s is definetly the same as what was for kids in 2000
Perhaps I should refrase :
Old triology was for smart kids
New tiology is for retarded kids
As for ME2 getting numerous game of the year awards.
You kind of lost every bit of respect as RPG fan there.
Only award ME2 should win is:
"Most dumbed down RPG for console ADHD generation"
And perhaps it should compete in second cathegory:
"Game that tries hard to be a shooter but only console players could ever call that retarded stuff a shooter"
Ah, dont forget extra category:
"Somebody should inform these guys its a game not a movie"
p.s
Am I the only one that noticed how number of awards game gets is in direct corelation with its marketing budget ?
Sigh, Still uninformed. You know Jar Jar, while being there for comedic purposes, actuallty had a pivitol role in the prequel trilogy. It was his endorsement to give Palpatine emergency powers in the senate which later led to him being emperor.
I have to say this. As a black man(and, I might add, a working actor) Jar-Jar Binks is the very epitome of the "token black" we've seen in movies for decades(although things are, obviously, a lot better than they were). He is, by far, the worst character ever created in the SW universe, and I cringe every time I see him. I mean, he even walks in that sort of "Amos and Andy" "stepinfetchit" style. Having a pivotal role..LOL.
This can't be serious.
It is.... i would add though that ME1 was better, imo at least, than ME2, though both were very playable, but only once.. those kinds of games don't have any real replayability, so i'm kind of in two minds as to whether they even represent good value for money or not.. though .. they both are definitely better VFM than Dragon age:Origins.. definitely going to avoid DA:O2... as for Star Wars, the 'original' 3 films, 4,5&6 will always be regarded, by me at least, as being iconic.. the 'prequels' were nothing less than a bodged together attempt to scam more money out of the Star Wars name, never mind Jar Jar, though i do agree on the reasons for it being there, politically incorrect as it is... it spoiled films that were already a long way from being definitive, add further insults in the 'midichlorians' and the new improved (younger) Yoda, and his impressively bad fighting scenes.... the sheer volume of 'awfulness' in the prequels just beggars belief.. as for SW:TOR, its part of the KOTOR, spinoff line, the only link it has to Star Wars, is that it has Jedi in it... and its a tenous link at that.
I actually kinda liked the prequels, except the first one. The Clone Wars wasn't that bad and I thought Revenge of the Sith was quite good. I agree about the midichlorians but come on, Yoda's light saber battles were pretty good, he was one of the most powerful Jedi and he can't swing a sabre? What sense would that make?

I agree with your opinion about ME2. I was seriously dissapointed about the dumbed down RPG elements of that game and even more so DA:O which they said was a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate (and NWN imo), I believe I made a post about this recently.
Agreed. Having an Ewok pet running around with me would be so cool. I would only get a Jar Jar pet though if they let me kill him off in excruciatingly painful ways. That "character" was almost as bad of a choice as the kid they cast to play young Anakin.

Well, I have to admit that theJar Jars were unexpected when I saw the newer series. I had trouble understanding them lol. I thought it was a stupid choice the first time around. I watched it a second time and they kind of grew on me just a little bit more, but still seemed kinda a weird choice along with that one scene of yoda bouncing all over the place in battle that caused the movie theatre to erupt in laughter lol.
You calling anyone who enjoyed the game for what it was dumb or stupid or anything similar sounds funny. Others peoples opinions are stupid when they don't agree with you, aren't they?

The Yoda scene kind of felt weird to me at first as well, but I pretty much rationalized it right away with the thought "Hey all jedi seem to be jumping fleas. So why not a really short jumping flea?"
Personally I felt the worst part of the three prequals was the choice of that kid as the young Anakin. The acting was absolutely horrible. I know he was just a kid, but we have all seen some amazing child actors on TV and in movies, so what happened there? I also blame the Director to be honest. A good Director would have either made the kid do better or canned him early enough to get a good replacement. Instead they ran with the sub-par performance.
Anyways, that's my two credits worth.

Ok, so I'm playing the raging nerd in this post, but...
Mass Effect was a lot better than you give it credit for. Just because it doesn't have enough "RPG" in there for you, doesn't take away from the game in general. I mean, right now, you just sound like an uptight douchbag. streamlined gameplay =/= a bad game.
All in all, the gameplay for ME and ME2 works. That's what counts to me. The story is engaging, the gameplay is fun, and I only have a few minor problems with the game that I personally overlook to enjoy the game. (I had a few more problems with ME1, which

First of horsechoker, I was actually replying to keithianw, not you. Still, I don't mind a discussion with you on this.
I have a love/hate thing going with ewoks. I loved them individually and hated them as a group. I think the teddy bear look could have been so much better done, but considering they wanted a completely animate character (and the technology of the time) I gave them a C+ on the ewoks. With the gungans though . . . ugh straight out F. As far as Return of the Jedi goes though, I would rate it in last place for the original trilogy, but way ahead of the prequals.
In the end I would still love to have a single ewok pet running around with me and may just go Sith if that is the only way I can kill off gungans.

I actually loved the Ewoks and felt they fit into the movie perfectly. The original Star Wars movies were all about simply well known two sides of the coin, like good versus evil, dark versus light, etc. I liked that the Ewoks were so primitive but ended up being equally valuable when all was said and done. It supports the other known statement that even the smallest can make a difference. I believe that is what they were going for and you couldn't help feel joy at the last scene when they were all together in celebration. The return of the Jedi was my second favorite movie behind #4 and the way they integrated the Ewoks had a lot to do with it. Also, most felt they were cute and god knows how much Lucas made on that concept in toys, stuffed up animals, etc lol.

Hmmm no, Ever played Knights of the Old Republic 1/2? They were based 4,000 years before episode 1. Episodes 1-3 were the Republic era, episodes 4-6 were the Imperial empire era (galactic war), KOTOR and SWTOR are the Sith era.

The only real reason I disliked the ewoks was because it was so obvious that it was people inside a puffy "teddy bear" suit. I did like the whole concept and individual ewoks portrayed a lot more acting ability than a certain young anakin actor I have previously listed my dislike for. But it was the costumes themselves that made me dislike the ewoks as a group. Too unweildy and down right clumsy. Any creature like that, no matter how intelligent, would be killed of by predators long before they could even start to develop intelligence. In the end though it's just my two credits worth and I would still love to have a cool little grey and black striped ewok pet following me around. Here's hoping that is possible.

Well, maybe one day there will be a remake and they will be even cuter lol, though I think that would be a bad idea since most of the actors in those 3 were tailor made for their roles. Harrison Ford did an amazing job :-) Also, I don't want them to mess it up like they did to Clash of the Titans :-0

I didn't respond to keithianw's post because I didn't deem it worthy of my attention, but when I saw your post and realized this was turning into an Ewok love fest I became upset.
Ewok's are lame and if you like them you are lame too. Return of the Jedi was a crap movie and before SW:TOR goes live we should discuss which servers we will be playing on so I can make sure I never have to play with you. Good day.
"...deem it worthy of your attention"? What are you Queen Elizabeth? Thats something she would say. Your just upset because no Ewok would would want you as an owner.
