    funny

The quote reminded me of "you are not in Kansas anymore", I guess that's where they got it from.

And the team who quoted that didn't fair too well... :(

Navi and WoW, both older technology and older mentality and culture, rising up to defeat the newer futuristic invaders.

It saddens me to type this, as I now see that no one can defeat WoW.

I haven't played it and don't know much about it, but if Rift is on track for a stable, polished launch, then good for them.

No one can argue that the game is not stable.  What some people have a problem with is that it's not what they want.

yeah people still trying to break down the games THEY dont like.....in my case its the new wow.

I played wow for about 5 years and loved it untill the community started calling the shots instead of blizz.

By this i mean i got kicked from pugs bcause i didnt have a high enough GS......that realy ruined the game for me, well that and kids calling me noob bcause of my GS (i am 35 years old have been playing games since i was 9)...lolz

I dont claim to be better then the rest i just wanted to party and have fun but wow cant deliver that anymore it seems so i started looking for some game like wow with less people......and it seems i found what i was looking for.

i dont want to apologize for being a casual player you know.

if people dont like some games they should just learn to move on :p

    most honest advertisement ever.

They really have to warn their players it isnt WoW what they are playing. As a freind of mine said "I was playing the beta and realized that I was playing World of Warcraft but with less content , less] polish and big purple missiles of gas flying everywhere."

If Trion have half a working cell, they will rent the game servers for release, instead of buying them.

Whatever population they get at release, 70-80% will leave to never come back after the first 2 months...if they use rented servers they wont have to see how dozens of them go to the garbage bin due to underpopulation.

Nice video.  Now 99.9% of WoW players can go back to not caring about other MMOs.

Seriously, every MMO that I've played thats not WoW has its chat channes filled with WoW hate.  WoWs chat channels almost never have any mention of other MMOs, good or bad.  Like it or not, every MMO out there today is like a gnat on the elephant that is WoW and Rift will be no different.  The only future MMO I can see as a legit challenger to WoW is SWTOR.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

dont get your hopes up TOO high on SWTOR m8 (i mean that in a good way....dont shoot me)

I hope they can deliver but i think they will ship to soon like many other mmo's and will pay a price for it afterwards.

    But hey....this is just mho.

i realy hope they can deliver up to the hype.

No he simply used the same ball from the last 5 years. As each year passes it accelerates the pictures.

you guys are reading way too much into this.  I dont think theres a sane developer on this earth that thinks they can directly compete with WoW.  Just because a bunch of mmorpg.com forum posters think so, doesnt make it true regarless of what you think you've read into this trailer.

SWTOR community definetly dont want the rabbit fanbase of wow , thats true .

Most community has that problem , since wow stereo type the bad behaviors and other things , maybe it´s stereo type change thats what most people dont like . Change cause shift from old to younger generation , more skilled and smarter that i have to admit about younger generation .

But sadly also much more lazy , no discipline and all talk no action , thats the bad thing about wow generation .

one thing i like about the SWTOR community is that they are much more mature , well any community in mmorpg is more mature , but slowly the filtering of generation shift is showing cracks .

SWTOR has no hype , infact it has lower hype then any other MMO , they prefer that way .

The hype are player made , the hype machine hasn´t even function yet , EA is master in hyping up with advertisment.

See warhammer online adverts back then , I think this time they are taking the safe approach with SWTOR .

But honestly WoW has the biggest hype in the world , and the biggest population and wont be dethroned for years in the world and only expanding , but in the WEST or the population who come to these mmorpg forums .

Thats a different story , there aint no 12 million western mmorpg consumers , there are max out 6 million who are intensly into games like mmorpg , Are there more consumers yes there are but they rather do the mundane things in the world and live with real life hype , like facebook twitters and other new stuff .

I don't like WoW anymore but I hope that WoW utterly crushes RIFT proving that there needs to be only one World of Warcraft :P

I dont use the allmigthy 8-ball for petty issues like this, it would be overkill. we dont want to break the oracle, do we?

Rifts' epic and catastrophic demise can be seen coming a mile off. I save the 8-ball  for harder to predict events like "will the spice girls return ever again?".

I think it was kinda cute to poke fun like that and it also makes a reference to people comparing it to WoW so hence  the "we're not in Azeroth any more " crack.

You say it as though Blizzard has something to worry about. I think you've got your scenario a bit backwards.

Blizzard isn't the developer with something to prove here. They don't have to do anything in response to Rift's release. Trion is not "showing balls" by putting that statement in there. They're hoping it'll generate controversy ("Ooooh... did you see what Trion put in their latest trailer? They're taking on WoW!!") and get people talking about it. And you can see already that it's working.

    It's not hubris. It's marketing.

Death of wow is upon us this year people sorry cata was an utter failure lots of their players are leaving because the game is to hard now for them and they cant see the content i am in a raid guild we are doing pretty well but really the raids are hard as hell now and there is  no way a  casual wll ever  see these raids in pug and actually down anything maybe argaloth buts thats about it. Rift, swtor, guild wars 2 will spell the end for wow this year!! The end meaning they will no longer be the top dog of course the game isn't going to die out.

  • kingtommyboykingtommyboy Member Posts: 543

hehe, well, we'll see what happens :-)

I don't think this game will pick a lot of people away from wow, but i'm sure RIFT will get his own loyal playerbase, like most games do.

    No they won't!

However, would you mind I bookmark this post and revisit it later this year when your prediction hasn't come to pass? I'm curious what your reasoning will be then.

I don't see that as a bad thing, it might make the wow community a lot nicer again when the angry wow kids leave cause it is harder now. They are just all suffering from the wrath syndrome. Wrath made wow way to easy. I mean, even I raided A LOT in wrath, pugging heroics? lol? In vanilla I wasn't a raider at all. In that time we were happy when we cleared UBRS with our small casual guild :-)

Damn people over here are too serious. Especially the WOW fans getting all red in the face.. It was a tounge in cheek comment because players keep comparing RIFT to WOW all the time. So it is TRION's way of responding to all those players.

Come on guys smile a little, life is too short to be angry and grumpy all the time. Remember it is just a video game.

Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

thats what cracks me up the most. how on earth did Trion think that would fly?

the population plummet after the first couple months will be legendary, I bet it will beat AoC and WAR by a factor of 2.
