Dark Age of Camelot: Infernal Invasion

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The Camelot Herald has a new announcement about the return of the Infernal Invasion to Dark Age of Camelot servers. Developer live events are scheduled to be included in the invasion and devs have posted a schedule of times and locations.

Some time has passed since the last Demonic invasion, but it has not been forgotten. The Scholars studying the artifacts and objects left behind by the Demons have made some startling discoveries. Rumors have begun to make their way across the realms, whispers of dark portents, rituals, and objects. The rumors have not gone unnoticed.

The Champions of Albion, Midgard, and Hibernian have heard these whispers and have begun their investigations. The Champions of the realm will rally their realms forces on the following dates and times at the entrance to Darkness falls.

Mordred only: Do you have what it takes to challenge a Champion? On Mordred we offer players for the first time a chance to challenge and fight the developer Champions in PvP. Earn your bragging rights and bring honor to your name on Mordred.

Check out the schedule of live events here.

Im sure the ~1000 people who still play on official servers will be happy!

recently tried to give daoc another look, but wtf.  that tutorial is a halfbaked mess.  maybe they should focus on getting basics like the UI up to par.  There's still a solid game behind it all, but they're doing a terrible job of keeping it alive.  people coming at it from other games aren't going to give it enough time to see it.

Note to EA, change DAOC to the fremium payment model and let players copy their characters over to Mordred and I'll come back  in a minute.  (BTW, most of my charactrers are on Mordred, I just want some folks to fight, been a ghost town over there for years)

    (A) DAoC has more then ~1000 people

    (B) the tutorial leads you through the basics if you start in the keep then follow the missions given going from town to town. the UI can be changed from the base one to any number of ones made by the players complete with different maps of all the zones, VN boards has a section dedicated to the UIs if you check the areas of the DAoC boards

    (C) Mordred was a FoTM server that has 1 person on it now (the toon I just made to check), seems poeple didn't want to be wiped while killing dragons/ml mobs/arty encounters or any of the other things that the PvE side of the game offers just to watch the guy who killed them kill hte mob and take the loot, what should have happened is /anon shouldn't be enabled so people would know where others are and that way there would be the action that was wanted.

I've seen anwhere from 1200 to about 2000 online. Seems the pvp part is still going strong.

The game is not dead, but they have continually avoided balance issues throughout the games existence which in effect turns off a lot of players.  They have far too many classes and sub classes within them, to ever get a handle on it.

It can be fun for a change of pace, but it needs a major make over, which EA is not going to fund.

Please PLEASE PLEASE...Did I Mention PLEASE...DAoC 2....Sadly gone are the days where there was over 20,000 online almost everyday. People have been holding their breath for years to bring back the best MMO ever, with more of what subs are demanding in a game these days. War was an obivious fail and left many former DAoC players feeling cheated. Maybe we expected to much but in the end take whats still left and make it better. BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME

Sometimes I wonder if this game would get more players if it went free to play,

I loved DAoC but when I started school for my medical assistant I could no longer afford to pay for the game I would really love to be able to play the game again and miss the fun I had when playing. I really agree with a few of you they do need to work on the game and I believe as most of you do that people will start to return.

Don't really think they have the staff left to convert the game to such, but I would certainly think about supporting a DAoC2 or even a f2p version if EA decided to fund it.

Mah going to give the trail a spin. Did play the game, but never really had the time to get into it (Never did some PvP). So with server would be best to join?

Agree it was one of the best but come on... the game dying with any grace is a distant memory. DAOC 2 would be a needed breath of life to a stale field... IF it was done right - something tells me thats a pipe dream. I remeber when UO X was in dev... the first Warhammer, second Warhammer... I was excited for all but 2 were canceled and the third sucked beyond all reason.

Great game but it's time for DAOC2.  Mark Jacobs better figure out a way to buy the rights back from EA because they'll F it up for sure.
