Not a good start

Having played the beta, I can say that the gameplay really suits me. DCUO is a breath of fresh air after countless MMOs (yes, i played wow up till the end of BC).

That being said, DCUO is not even officially launched yet, and my experience post-beta has not been very encouraging. Here are some of the issues I've faced so far.

1)Pre-order from the station store is laughable. The first time i tried to purchase the digital pre-order from the station store, they charged me twice for $1 with no confirmation of order or even indication that anything is happening. Upon seeing the $1 charges, i contacted station support - they took nearly 1 week to get back to me.

2)Station support is abysmal. they are slow and they are uninformed to the point where you can just guess that they are not properly trained for the support role. Either that or they are given very little tools to actually provide support to the customers with. After 1 more week of correspondence with station support, they end up telling me that there is very little they can do to help me, and they will refund the $1 charges. (yes its only a few bucks, but the money is not the issue here, imagine if they charge for lifetime subscription multiple times?)

3)Giving up on the digital copies of the game, i went ahead and bought the boxed version. I installed the box contents and while waiting for the servers to be launched, I went ahead to create a station account. Account creating is also a nightmare, as after the account had been created, i was unable to login as somehow, my password was incorrect. Attempts to retrieve the password was futile as i was greeted with the message somewhere along the lines of - "Unable to retrieve password due to system error" (not an exact quote)

The game itself is tons of fun. I can see myself having a real blast with it, but with my experience so far with the support staff and back-end systems, i have to say that i'm a little worried.

You should have bought the game from steam, or somewhere else. I bought it on steam few days ago and im all set! fully installed and patched, account is up and running with subscrition etc, no problems.

I find it funny that all the problems are when you buy the game directly from SoE themselfs lol.

    Currently Playing Path of Exile

Got mine from Amazon.  Preorder should be here around 9-930.  I preloaded using the D2D exe though that a friend had.  Was awesome.  All patched up.  Today will be fun.

You do realize that SOE the developer is different from SOE the Station developer which is different from every OTHER Sony product line right?  Throwing around the SOE sucks thing isn't as all inclusive as you may like to believe.

Sorry cannot realy help with that problem , bought it from steam myself since they are for me the best online store and like to have all the games togheter in 1 application so if i dont play like a year i need to look everywhere to see what account belongs to what not even talking about remembering all the logins etc for all those programs.

On hindsight, I have to agree that I probably shouldn't have insisted on buying directly from SOE. i've never had any other experience with SOE games before, so i'll take this as a lesson learned.

So far, it looks like no1 else is having problems, I may be the unlucky one.

Just call them,  it shouldn't take very long,  their phone support is much quicker.

Here is your solution...I had to dig hard to find this because I was in the same predicament and was on hold for 40 minutes waiting for a Sony support rep to take my call....

I created my account via the DCUO launcher...which has a really bad and blind password policy.  DO NOT USE SPECIAL CHARACTERS.  I had a '!' in my password...someone else used a '&'. There is no warning and everything seemed okey dokey. I played for a bit...couldn't log in to the website.  Odd.  Installed on my PC...couldn't log in...odd.  Logged out of my laptop...SCREWED.  The "recover password" did not work as the account created with the launcher does not have a secret question set....it sends that error message to your e-mail.  You know : "There has been trouble processing your request."

Enter your password without the special characters as if they were never there.  For example.  If your password is "s@mple!" ...enter it as "smple".

How stupid is that?  Try it.

Btw...made an account here just to post this info.  Cheers!

I bought it from station. Everything was fine. Game runs mint. Chat is my only issue, but the rest rocks.

This was the smoothest release of a mmo I have taken part in.

Cheers to DCUO and it's new community
