The safe area will only be there during prelude. After prelude it will be removed. This is to allow tribes to start up without being harrased without any way to defend themselves.
Thier are still other issues such as the respawn system. When I played if you get killed and your not a PKer you go into a ghost mode and have to wait like 20 seconds to respawn, but you can respawn right where you die. If you a PKer and you die you get teleported all the way back to your tribe, possibly all the way across the map. With this system large scale fights are impossible as people will just keep respawning. Also Evil Clans will never be able to battle others because thier members will dissapeare when they die while the other teams will just be out of the fight for 30 seconds.
Now I haven't played in about a month, did they or do they plan on changing the respawn system?
Yeah I'll probably just wait till release and check it out. I'm not trying to bash the game either I think it could be great if they implement all the features the advertise.

This thread answers your question about the respawn system, yes they do plan to change it. Since you've preordered you can read that section I guess.
Still I agree with you, players whose main interest is PvP would be very disappointed in the game, its not focused on PvP in any way and doesn't cater to the PvP crowd. On the other hand, sandbox players who were scared away by the open PvP in the game should definitely try it, Xsyon won't be anything like Darkfall, much more of an exploring-building-crafting game where PvP is possible but not encouraged. Prelude will last for like 1 year and safe zones will stay during that time.
Idk about Earthrise, i seem put off by the Sci-Fi environnement and shooter style...although i havent seen alot of that game lol
Yeah I like the setting and such.
And yes I'm a bit worried because its less than a month away from release and thiers very little actual gameplay videos (although theres a ton of info on the forums) but they are giving away 1000's of beta invites so hopefully more info will come soon.

Alright thats good to know.
And yes I think this game more appeals to people who like the social/creativity/crafting aspect of sandbox MMO's. I'm sure it will have a nice following if it gets all the content in soon.
yeah applied to beta myself want to try it out, im sur i could get used to the sci-fi theme if the sandbox features are well implemented
Edit: Eh yeah talking about Earthrise.... and back on subject, The thing that keeps me interested is the way the dev (s) are doing this, they seem ground to ground with the community and it looks like a project he has to heart, seem like i trust him to implement missing things in Xsyon

no, controlling animals/mounts are not in yet. I think the plan for controlling animals is during prelude.
I'm not sure what do you mean by few months, but we were told that every chapter will last for 6-12 months, and seeing the developement speed and the features they want to add during Prelude I'm willing to bet that the period of Prelude will be much closer to 1 year.
The lead dev posted today that Prelude will last for 6 months at least, and raiding other tribes won't happen for a while. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the game, actually I think this is good. This way Xsyon can attract the players who love sandbox games still they can't find one because they don't like forced PvP. Players who want to PvP can enjoy it outside of tribe zones or by attacking evil tribes whose home won't be safe zone. I'm really glad that finally I found a sandbox game where I can avoid PvP if I wish so.
ehhhh, well i've been thinking alot about Xsyon at work, and well decided to take a leap of faith and pre-order...did i do a good thing or not ? Think the community and Devs and the communication between both, kinda sealed the deal for me. Oh well only time will tell, if i made a good choice or not

yeah, heard lots of good things might come out of it. Well, played for an hour, its cool, like the environment, feel immersed with no map and all, seen quit alot of mobs, baby deer, adults, packs of coyotes. Saw some villages with huts and all, pretty kool stuff ! although it still feels very much beta....

Yep i just preordered the game too....I was hectic at first but in the end i had a good feeling of what is going on here....I think that eventually this is gonna be a really fun game....As long as they input ALL features they promised and most of all AS THEY PROMISED. I don't want to see any 360* changes in gameplay or style just because a few players start QQing at forums!
I only played this for 2-3 hours and i am already hooked! The crafting is quite simple and addicting...The best part is the feeling of creation and the freedom of creating anything anywhere is superb!
My biggest fear: In case most players are carebears and wish PvP plans away.....It can happen since this is a small team of developers who would certainly consider it twice before they lose a certain number of subscribers due to "ganking". I think inserting ffa pvp would transform this game to an immediate smash hit for sandbox adventurers!
I'd say to NOTORIOUS GAMES. GO FOR IT. WE CAN WAIT. BUT ..
DON'T YOU EVER CHANGE YOUR PLANS FOR THIS GAME. THEY ARE AWESOME!

ha ha, yeah like the game also, even with the missing features i can still see the potential it has, and i think pvp will be at first only avaible outside of tribal areas, so thats cool. Glad you like it ! Fresh blood is always welcome he he

I bought the game in May of last year. I bought it just off the concept and features listed. When I played in May I relized what the Devs were doing and how grand the concept for this sandbox would be. I like what I saw then even though they had maybe about 20-30% of the features in game at the time. I took a break for several months and just returned last week.
I can tell you a lot of progress has been made and they are slowly chipping away at the list of features promised. I would say they are about 60-70% complete. It is very stable. There are very few bugs and non that would keep you from playing and enjoying this game now. I have played for the last four days for several hours each day and had no crashes or weird crafting/building bugs. They are taking their time and doing it right. Yes, there are a few things which need to be addressed like PvP combat, but from what I saw in May and what I see now it should be ready for Prelude. Will it be 100% at Prelude, no but then again that's not the intention. It will be very playable at Prelude and they will continue over the weeks and months to add the remaining features.
For those who take a chance at $40 will see, once they enter and move around this world, that something very special is instore for the futrue of this title.
For those wanting free-control over a massive open sandbox MMO, this is it. The devs supply the tools we get to build the world. Can't wait!

You would have to search the forums for a 100% accurate answer. I do not remember seeing anything about them changing this at the current time.

Ive played it all day today and so far i like this game a lot. It is about 10x easier once you get a tribe to work with.

I'm thinking about starting a new tribe. If anyone wants to help make it with me that would be awesome
The game becomes like 5x more fun when you join a tribe. You have access to TONS of tools.
