SWTOR was, I believe, originally scheduled for a Spring 2011 launch. This has now apparently been put back and a launch sometime in 'FY 2011' is now mentioned - this could be anytime between 1 April 2011 and March 31 2012. So - just for a bit of fun and perhaps to reference later when the thing has come out to check our predictions - when do you think SWTOR will be launched.
Of course, of course, we all know people love posting their 'it'll be ready when it's ready' or 'it will launch when it's most appropriate to LA's marketing programming' answers, but let's just concentrate on broad dates for the purposes of this thread.

I actually think they'll hit their april-may target but I went for Jun as most games miss the first projection.

I like the date May 4, 2011. They can be like "May the Fourth be with you 2011"
Heh I love it!
Zerminus, you have the fiscal year wrong. It was announced to be released in FY 2012 for EA, though your actual date time frame is correct. About a week later one of the BioWare Devs though said in a video interview that they were still targeting Spring 2011. Both of my statements can be easily verified on darthhater.com. If that pans out the way they want it too, that gives us a window of 01 April 2011 to about 22 June 2011, strictly going by the "celestial calendar".
My personal bet would be the first two weeks in May. Probably on a Monday or Tuesday in order to fix any problems that may arise before a weekend. I have a problem seeing it go much later though because the summer brings vacations and generally better weather, as well as a general drop in game sales.
If for some reason they can not make their spring target, then the game will probably be moved to the September time-frame when kids (of all ages) want to be distracted from school, work, and the deteriorating weather. It really wouldn't surprise me though to see it go all the way back to the beginning of October in order to release it at the beginning of a Fiscal Quarter for stockholder profit reporting reasons.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
Gman pretty much said what i was going to say. I will add one more thing though, they have pretty much for the last year been sticking to this spring release. Most they have pushed back, is maybe 1 month.
So i went with april-may, as they haven't given any clue as to a push back at the moment.

May-June..If not then holidays about Nov-Dec
In the year of 2020 sometime in summer
*smiles* Its going to be released this year? SWTOR seems to have spent more time into emailing me every week about whats going to be, versus what is, to make it worth guestimating when its going to come out. But I would have to say not this year.
Ooops! Sorry for that slip.
Haha - love it indeed. Pitch it to Bioware/EA ;D. Seriously! and the graphical part can be with 2011 the two 11 can be lightsabres!
What he said.
Late summer, i no longer believe they will launch in spring

I am looking for the open beta to start in April. Then a May launch based on the original movie launch in 1977 on May 25th.
They did say they wanted an open beta so they could have a try before you buy and a staggard launch. And the open beta will be for about a month, depending on what problems occur.
I do agree with the post about delay until fall if they miss the spring launch because of problems though. So March will probably give us a good idea based on the info released and marketing seen in that month.
How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?

If it is up to Bioware, the date will reflect when the game is ready. If it is EA, it will reflect how badly EA wants to grab the money. You choose.

Late November for boxes sold retail as holiday gifts.
I voted June-July but it could be later.
26th August 2011. US/Europe release. Smooth login approx 1.3 million people on day of release. A further 7.9million people sign on within first week of release. WoW destroyed & COD : Black Ops sales beaten. Job done.

i think they r on schedual for a may release. they r allowing 5 and 6 hour demos to reviewers, and those are showcaseing pretty much everything but the crafting, which they have been talking alot about lately. the devs have said all along that they wouldnt talk in detail about anything that wasnt more or less finished, and they have discussed all facets of the game now. Plus, they are doing some beta testing as we speak according to many of the fan sites i have been tracking for news, which leads me to believe that we r only a short time out from starting full beta and then stress testing servers leading up to finally getting the full game.
Theres still some info to be relased like the rest of the class//race combo and some of the crafting skills and end game but generally yeah, they seem to have the majority of the info released, it's just fleshing out the last bits. Also beta testing has been going on since about summer of last year. If they go to summer of this year that would be a full year worth of testing almost. Thats a lot of time testing one product.

this is so perfect that it will probably balance the scales with implementing Mass Effect features. What would sell better then Shepard fighting the sith with a lightsaber?
I'm guessing later, holiday season this year. Of course, I'm also hoping to be wrong on that time-frame, I would like to be playing SW:TOR by summer, but I'm not holding my breath on that score.
Better they test everything to death and have a smooth, polished, bug-free product for launch, than hitting the spring target with bugs etc. I think Trion have set a new bar for a smooth beta product and will have ratcheted up gamers' expectations for a quality experience straight out of the box. I don't think BioWare will want to look like they're slacking by comparison.
Don't get me wrong, I love BioWare's games, but I'd rather they launched their first MMO in a better state than some of their more recent single-player games. If that takes time, then they should take the time they need.
Some of the movies including the first were released in May, so I'm betting they are shooting for a May release to coincide with these anniversaries.
I put the August to Sept time frame only because its so rare that a developer hits their target without compromising quality. Since we know Bioware produces quality games, they are less likely to keep a date if that was to sacrafice that same quality. I'm hoping that I am wrong of course and they do meet a Spring date, but as long as we don't see a rocky launch similar to Vanguard, AOC, or Star Trek I'll be happy. Just please not in 2012 lol.
There Is Always Hope!
That has so much dork win tied into it that you know some marketing guy at EA already pitched that date, with the exact same sentence.
