    Entertaining video  :)

I played a loner pvp-rogue in WoW for a looong time (back when there was actual pvp), so i'm always in for some rogue pvp.But then, watching your clip i find the Rift-assa is so much WoW that i wonder if this game has a serious identitiy crisis.

Guess i need something a tad more different these days.

Anyway, have fun and keep on stabbin' :)

I thought it was like WoW untill i got to level 25 and the game is nothing like WoW. The game really opens up and becomes Rift, besides i haven't had this much fun in an MMO in years....

Nice video, it's kind of disturbing the amount of mages he killed  :/

Sweet, Ghost.  Some pretty close ones there.  Glad to see that you can get the upper-hand, but it is obvious that having the upper-hand doesnt equate to win.

    Whats your build?

WEll for me , I must admit this is a bit sad to see, I really dislike stealth meaning invisible, not sure if thats the case in Rift, but a  class that can sneak up on you in an open feild and not be noticed is a bit sick, ive played the rogue in vanilla wow , and quit cause it was a dumb idea.

Sad to see this game has copied this class again.

Which is why there "is" a role that can detect.  Ying and Yang.

  • Entropy14Entropy14 Member UncommonPosts: 675

Still, its not really ying yang, cuz you dont always keep that role around.  Just one of my little pet peeves in MMO's is a class that can go invisible. I have been on both sides of the coin, and quit the class cause it was just too easy.

In Wow you could basically alomst one shot someone ,if not , stunlock them and youd be lucky to get hit once.

Yes there was the exception, like Pallies and such, but then you just avoided them and targetted clothies.

the assassin is just ONE of the NINE rogue classes, and the rogue classes (souls) have probably the most differing play styles. Riftstalker is even a tanking rogue,Sabateour uses bombs and traps,Bard is a support class that i have like 6-8 buffs running on the RAID,Nightblade is somewhat like n Assassin but uses more magic attacks(fire and death i think) can also add combo points at range,Ranger is also considered a Rogue.MOST of the Rogue classes doesn't even have stealth, and seeing that you can choose 3 different classes to meld together makes for some pretty unique play styles. and if i remember right you can't stay stealthed it only lasted like 30 sec intervals so made for mor tactical play.

so instead of being the typical mmorpg.com sheep try a game out for yourself before your troll and talk out your ass :)

Not exactly true. Further up the assas tree u can get unlimited steath from a talent.

  • Cik_AsalinCik_Asalin Member Posts: 3,033

...for 3 whole seconds with a 2-minute cool-down.  It's all game-play, because further up the Beastmaster tree, beyond 'detecting' stealth by 1 level, your companion detects stealth and alerts your team when stealth is detected.

I find it balances out, but you nor I have gotten to level 30-31 to test is out :)

lol I was just about to mention the beastmaster part.

Also, this guy is a good player; but I think editing had a play into it too huh? :)  I'm sure he's died a few more times than he showed.  Also, 1 on 1 sin is deadly...more than 1....not so much.

But the improved stealth thing for assassin is correct.  you will need to be level 21 to have enough points to access it.

Really, limiting reliable stealth detection to one class somehow balances it out?  People have been defending stealth classes in every game I have ever played and it always boils down to their desire to gank or gain the upper hand in PvP.  A weak ass tactic for weak ass players.

i hope theres a rogue class like the burglar from lotro thats my favorit class of all times, they dont even need to stealth they can 1v1 with all the tricks in their bags depending on their traits

  • terroniterroni Member Posts: 935

I really don't like the beastmaster enough to spec in it to detect stealth...It may be a counter, but meh.

I noticed Ghost's health going up in battles, I'm assuming that is from potion popping?

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

-Overkill is a legitimate business tactic.

Dwarfs are smaller so in large scale battle they don't get targeted as much...

Assasin Rogues are very easy to burn down if you know how to play...

True that, I think I seen one in your vid where someone actually used some CC on your lil self and you got the faceplant for it. Dont recall any other fight in that entire vid where anyone even tried to CC you off thier buttocks. Fact of assassins, they dont hurt as much when they can't reach you.

What does Warhammer 2 have to do with ownage Rift players?

Look , I like the typical generic mmo combat systems, and still actively play games that use that system, but at this point nothing in that system seems original. I was watching that video after just doing random bg's in wow, and all i thought was wow, thats simplified wow rogue. I'm sure you'll get more abilities after certain levels or whatever, but im also willing to guess that not many of those will be original either.

Then i realized the problem..im tired of this type of combat. All these games feel the same at this point, different skins or not.Really, if you like this system( and honestly i still enjoy it to some extent), thats fine, enjoy the game. But i want something different, so hopefully tera delivers, or maybe darkfall and MO devs will get their crap together, who knows. But i see no point in going to a game like rift or swtor at this point if the only difference is the fluff and inbetween non- combat, but it feels like the exact same thing i've been doing for years.

It looks like a solid game that being said, its polished from what i heard, so i'm sure people will enjoy it, but thats all that i got from this video.

  • Entropy14Entropy14 Member UncommonPosts: 675

I agree Jaded, like you my biggest problem is I've grown tired of this combat system, I am very much looking forward to Tera and hoping it is done well, and that it succeeds so that hopefully more MMO's will take chances.
