They do not need to over haul anythin I can't say much because of the NDA but if I went off every damn video on the net or demo I would of never touch 90 % of the games out there. This video does the game no justice but if you go off this then you will be missing out on a great game so its your loss..

But they will release it anyway, and players will burn them for it.

Why does every MMO releases 85% finished ? Havent they learned its a biggest mistake a MMO can do ?

A developer said (I don't remember who) It takes 20% of the time to develope the first 80% of a MMO and 80% of the time to develope the latest 20%

    lolwot?

As the guy under you said, this is raw gameplay footage. We are basing it off literal gameplay, no gimics, cinematic trailer, nothing. This is what they have to offer & it's pathetic.

is this a tabula rasa remake or something?

Tabula Rasa had big faults but the combat and animation looked twelve times more exciting than this.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

Many people warned them after the first game play video, I see some improvment, but it is still poor. I don't mean some graphics glitches, average animations but the important stuff.

They are definiely behind  recent trends when it comes to combat. PvE looks like the most basic AI script ever. The combat feels stale, slow and not engaging at all, even  the pvp. Where is the dynamics in combat, movement, cover, dodging, maybe some rolls and real aiming ? Ah yes they actually decided to keep it the old way while improving just animations. I really hope for people who want to jump in the unknown that it actually feels better then it looks.

Another thing I am concered about is how feature complete ER actually is. I have to admit they have some great ideas, but that's still few steps short from their implementations. Even then I will find it quite ironic you have either play DF with decent combat and poor feature wise or ER with poor combat and good feature wise.

Either you release or you go bankrupt and have all your assets liquidated to repay the investors. MMOs try and release with at least the first 20 levels (assuming you have levels) "finished". While players are leveling they try and get the remaining leveling blocks done. AoC did this. Tortage was very well done as was the next area (forget the name), but once you hit about the level 40 areas the questing dried up and the zones became a Toboggan Course.

The game looks COMPLETLEY different then their last video.. Looks a lot more glossy halo/gears of warish compared to the dull grey and green palletes they showed off on the last beta vid.. But the rubberbanding and anamations are just plain TERRIBLE.. Still, it looks like with maybe another year under developement it could be pretty cool, sorta reminds me of Boarderlands.. But the fact is the game is releasing next month and this isn't some video made on fraps the developer themselves wanted to "show off" this video.

Also for some reason i thought this game was gonna be a FPS hybrid.. Wasnt that what it was promised as from the developers? From the "battle" scene that was shown there it looks like a point and click MMORPG with guns.. No dodging.. No aiming.. Ugly animations.. This is gonna be one hell of a release lol

This, sadly seems to be the case. Developers get to a point and the investors tell them to either sell everything, or start making money. I don't know if this is the case with Earthrise or not. If it is the case, I hope they focused on game play elements that just aren't easily shown in a video.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

It is mouse-aiming with softlocking. They can't record the cross-hair for what ever reason however.
There's no tab-targetting, but you get a very big hit-box with the soft-targeting-thingy.
If you run in circles and hide behind a tree, soft-lock can be broken and to hit someone, you allways have to aim at the target tho, even when soft-lock is activated.

The problem atm however is, that the game is basically unplayable with the lag and the rubberbanding going on. There's waiting for a miracle-patch within the next two weeks :p

Well that actually sounds pretty cool..

But fixing the animations / rubber banding is vital.. Game just dosn't look good without it..

Disregarding the poor animation and boring fighting (and that's hard to do), there's still no hint from the Trailers about what makes this world tick. There's no context.  It seems to exist in a vaccuum.

Its got skyscrapers, advanced technology, immortality, and  an alien garden of eden world that isn't recognizably Earth. This is simply not a post-apocalyptic game. They're missing all the genre stereotypes of ruined cities, raiders, makeshift armour and vehicles and more importantly, a Wasteland.  If this is Post Apocalyptic, then so is the world we're living in today - and our apocalypse was World War II.

It looks like someone sat down and worked out a formula for the game story and then didn't bother to flesh it out before working on stylistics and gameplay.

Ya, it looks more like a general futuristic game than a post-apocalyptic one.

Why dont both of you go to the website and read up on it? It has had a reasonable back story for the Island of Enterra for 2 years now. This video is game footage, not lore.

Post-apocalyptic = Fallen Earth; this game just looks futuristic. Themes aside, their video didn't make me want to play it. It looked laggy, with characters running in the air and having problems with targetting. Bad character animation is something that drives people away from such games, if you have to watch it all day long. Still, I can live with it, but I'm not going to play a game that won't be fun, just irritating because of poor targetting and lots of lag jitter.

It's nowhere near finished. As a gamer and software developer, I can't see it being ready for february, or even march. For example, Rift looks like it can be bought in march. MMOs need good launch to get remarkable initial audience and funding. That's how I predict this game to work: poor initial quality -> no preorders, poor reviews -> low initial interest -> not enough $$$ to support -> polishing game for next year or so -> it's not that bad anymore, but there's barely anyone playing it and it's dieing.

Not necesseraly , eve was like that at the begining it had very few content, just basic mining, and basic npcs, it had some decent bugs and very very low population, i used to go weeks without seing someone, but slowly they patched the game, grew their team, started adding content, all the players came in trough word of mouth, so it can be done, they just really need to work their heads off for the next two weeks to fix at least the lag and ruberbanding, if they do that the other stuff can

be done slowly, it might not have a big population and they might have to downsize their team a bit but i think they got a shot, it has a good back story, the engine itself is pretty good, one thing they should have done were dev video diaries showing of some of the features, since its 2 weeks to go and we still got no idea about what features made it to the final build.

I don't know, Mortal Online got a 6.9 review on this site and you can duplicate stuff in the game Johnny Mnemonic style. People still play it even though you can be hit by players you can't see, and can't hit players you can see. It's amazing what can survive in the mmorpg wilderness.

*edit* You have to read the information on the website, but the game is post apocalyptic. It's so post that they've been through one rebuild stage after the apocalypse.
