Loong: The Power of the Dragon launched

Loong: The Power of the Dragon has just finished with open beta and launched today. I had some time to play around with the game for a day or 2 in open beta and it’s surprisingly good, it’s complex yet simple. You can pick up to 2 weapons and then you can pick skills from their skill trees, so basically you can pick up to 2 classes, there are 8 weapons each with their own skills and there are 2 common trees that everyone can pick from they offer general skills that helps out with your character in general. You can switch weapons (classes) by using some items to reset your stats and your skill points, you get about 4 of each for free at the begging of the game that will only work if you use them before lvl 30.

The game is quest deriving lots of original quests as far as I could see although to be honest I only played until lvl 22.

There are lots of small features if you wanna call them that: crafting which actually produce important and much needed items that you can’t get from the game, pets which can be lvled up and have skills, mounts, pvp up to 500 ppl :) and that’s it off the top of my head.

Last words you better check it out.

I tried this game today and the game is very smooth when it comes to combat and movement. It has very nice graphics too. So if you can live with cash shop games you should give it a try. The production values are definietly higher than in many other games =]

    Screenie for you:

Edit. More screenies. I love the way this game looks and feels.

Hm? What do you mean? If you're talking about my name so I usually use Quisi in mmos. And if you're asking about the way he looks.. well with this horse he looks like a hero from Heroes of might and magic. =P

Anyone in America having trouble connecting to the server on this one?  I get to connecting to server and it says it can't connect.  I'm digging the log in screen though, very different.  and a real live song with a singer.  Not the best tune, but still, artistic comes to mind.

Finally got into the game, had to make a completely new account via the Loong website.  Talk about jumping through hoops just for accounts.  However, the game isn't too bad.  Typical FTP grinder but it has nice graphics and music.  Nice to waste time with until the BIG games hit.

It's a quest grinder from level 1.  Literally.  To get from level 9-10 there was even a repeatable go kill 8 bees quest.  I did it 2 times.  That's called grinding.

Now, if you mean it's not a bad grind yet, then sure, I agree with that.  For now.  I definitely don't see ANY storyline as of yet.  So far every quests I've done is designed to teach you who each npc is and what they do and to get you crafting and using the game mechanics.  Which is fine, although I wish I had an option to just skip the first 20 levels as most npc's are pretty basic and I don't need some quest telling me how to use them.

How the hell do you leave the starter zone? No one bloody speaks english and they are all afk in a river...Help!

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

rofl, just follow the quests and auto route to everything.  I'm level 16 already in like 2 hours of play.  I even made 6 friends but I've never spoken to them.  Thanks to that weird invite 3 friends quest.  Everyone just does it get the quest xp lol.

Is this just a traditional game coated in oriental fantasy theme? I'm kinda waiting for another "ancient China" game called Age of Wulin which looks a bit more promising..

Also if I remember correctly Loong has real women for loading screens :/

I have to admit though it had smooth combat when I played it in CB for a while

  • QSatuQSatu Member UncommonPosts: 1,796

Wow this Age of Wulin looks awesome. Finally a martial arts mmo where combat actually looks like a kung fu movie =P

Loons is a standart mmo, nothing special but crafting looks interesting and I like that we are not forced into class but can choose whichever skills we want.

There is a quest or title for getting 100 friends... everyone is inviting everyone, it's a little annoying tbh =P

Question for grammar nazis... Everyone is or everyone are? =P

It's ok for a f2p game. What bugs me is everyone stands on top of the quest giver and sometimes it is hard to complete/get the darn quest. Will keep me occupied until Rift beta is going again I guess.

You can press F9 to make players dissappear or reappear.  That will let you click on the npc, once they load, lol.

  • terroniterroni Member Posts: 935

It seems I missed the quest in the beginner village so I had to reroll.

It takes time for the NPCs to load even with players off. Oh well, not a horrid game.
