Spending my time between this game and Fallen Earth. I'm loving the housing in this game and the population seems strong. However, I put up my first items for sale on market in my house, and sold quite a few for a decent amount of gold. However, I only received a quarter of the gold for what i sold! Why is the commission so crazy? Why does the broker get commission in the first place, being an NPC. I could expect posting fees, but i never received 3 quarters of the gold I earned. Any thoughts?

It must be a bug because as far as I can remember the broker only takes 20% of your earnings.
In Dungeons & Dragons Online the broker fee is 30% and that is way too much and I have played some MMOs where the broker fee was 5% which is very nice imho.
back when I played broker fees never were an issue when selling but more when purchasing items. This was good way for people to come to your house and buy directly from you while both admiring your house and beating the broker fees. Just add the 10%( or 20% if your trading with opposing side) when selling your goods so you make the gold you want.
If you put up something for 20 gold, the broker marks it UP 10% or whatever for people to buy it. You will never get less than the 20 gold you put it up for. Now, to sell your items without the broker fee you can put a salesman crate (fir salesman crate is cheapest to buy on broker) in your broker slot and then use your market board to place it in your house. That way people can go to your house and not pay and extra broker fee on top of that. Just make sure you pay your rent! :P
The math never worked, I appreciate the game, and have fun playing it. But the math never worked; My auctions sold and i recieved a third initially of the gold, with no explanation, and no reimbursement. Still, this has not changed.
Not to troll or anything, but I have been playing EQ2 since launch...and im 100% sure that if you put an item on the broker, you will recieve exactly the same amount of coin that you placed it for. The broker fee is a mark up from your price that the person buying the item pays.
you are correct troll. LOL
Everything is working fine now, but i did not receive the initial gold. In any case, it was so little of an amount compared to what i have now, I'm no longer caring. But i wouldn't make something silly up. It was weird, and I contacted support, and they asked for a log of everything I sold, but that sounded too difficult. It also took 5 business days before i heard from them, so by that time I had already moved on and made 10 times as much . . . but it really happened, and was weird. Support said they'd take a look.
As I said earlier: you suffered from a bug.
