Final Fantasy XIV: Valentione's Day

The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has been updated with a lore piece about the in-game celebration called "Valentione's Day". In addition to the lore behind the celebration, players are given specific information about how and where to participate in the event scheduled to run from February 1st through February 15th.

The heart-shaped escutcheon used in her house's coat-of-arms was added after the death of Countess Arabelle, in remembrance of the similarly shaped shield she oft carried into battle.

As Valentione's Day became more popular, the story of Countess Arabelle and her crimson shield became more and more widespread, in turn, transforming the shield into a symbol of fortune and happiness. Two centuries ago, the Culinarians' Guild was finally successful in obtaining permission from the House Valentione to use a representation of the coat-of-arms on their festive chocolates.

I always enjoyed the holidays in FFXI, so if I played FFXIV I'd think that this would be enjoyable as well. But. I haven't heard, read or been directed to anything saying that FFXIV is fixed enough to be 'cute' with little holiday extras. Gratned, these things are staples of the mmorpg genre but I would much rather S-E invest time in crafting genuine content for the game and addressing FFXIV's plethora of issues than making the game 'cute' by adding holidays. S-E is fortunate people still play the game and, from the perspective of an outsider who pulled back before launch and watched a company with years of experience in the genre fail so undeniably at launch, this is really not the way to go about winning players or restoring confidence.

If someone can correct me by showing me where I can find information about the game being genuinely playable, viz. S-E is no longer free to play because they've fixed all that they think needs fixing to make it worth charging a subscription, I'll gladly take these words back.

(1)TL:DR must be your way of saying that thinking hurts. Then again, this may explain why it looks like you responded to the post without using your brain.
    (2) It's not about community, is it? You just have nothing better to do.

@The_Grump to be fair, the holidays were probably developed before launch and aren't part of the new development plan since they were in before the game launched.  So complaining about them being worked on instead of fixing the game is a bit melodramatic.  Seriously.

well the game has improved considerably since lanch but still has a ways to go , Still U.I. lag but much better than  it was. I do hope they go to a auction house soon, market wards are a waste of time.  and i agree with elocke, holiday stuff was already in the works  so they might as well put iit in for the players already in the game to enjoy.  could be the best part of the game lol
