The 1st poll i was attempting to get at the root of the issue and it looks as if a lot of people want PvP.Now keep in mind at last count there were only 50 votes.
So now ive put in 10 options based on my experiences in mmo's,some with PvP some without.A few had restrictions in levels and other options.
These ideas are intended to add to the core of the game not just be the only thing in it.

I would have voted open PvP, because thats how games should be.
but you added the 'after lvl 10' option which is even better. Thats what I've voted for.

I would like too see a zone that requires a certain level to get into, and the whole zone is PvP.
A whole zone? That sounds pretty interesting.
Ya know i put the sniper choice in this because i used to play ao as an agent. One of the things they had was aimed shot.It always ticked me off i couldnt just take out players from a long distance in PvP zones.

I'd only agree with "Open PvP:Walk out your front door and its 'on'" based on the type of game - that is, if it is specifically design as a chaos or war game. It becomes a survival game where newbie spawns get camped by pk's who like to prey on the weak. These newbies go on the net on forums and ask for help and someone already in the game comes and preys on the pk'er, allowing the newbies to get somewhere - and then the cycle repeats.
Forum signatures are stupid and annoying. I've turned mine off.
One thing I've noticed in PvP that brings alot of power to it is having "sides". For example, Dark Age of Camelot has 3 warring factions. WoW has the Horde and Alliance, Planetside has the 3 different empires. It takes that random, no point PvP out. Not only do you have clear goals (deprive them of something, relic, castle, base) and there are clear enemies.
Guild Wars is the only "big" game out there right now where you could end up Questing with someone and then end up fighting them in the same night. Its going to be interesting to see if they are able to put the "wars" into Guild Wars. The PvP is cool, but unfocused and sort of pointless at this point. Really the only reason to do it is move up the latter. (still its awesome) I would like to see something along the lines of a battleground. Bring on the Seiges!!!!
Here is what I think PvP is about. Working with a group of people to deprive the enemy of something they are going to fight hard to keep. Not "pawning" or "owning". Recently Ive been playing Planetside. Some of those battles last hours as troops try to take various bases. Its not the easiest thing for the (command rank 5's) to get everyone working together to take the same objectives.
DAoC did that...and much more.
Saddly because it make better carebears to go hunt there, I was not able to enjoy DAoC and move away...far far away. I would not have care whatever it change in PvP, but it also affect PvE...

Well a few options in there might make good pvp.
1)no communication between enemies. This is used originally in DAoC and proved to reduce the childish ranting .Now also used in WoW
2)no loot drop. What can i say most mmorpg shy away from this and with good reason.I would not even bother to list them as they are so numerous.
3)land control. This one i like.I also like to see it be like a collective house ie guild home so when lost it has minimal impact on the individual members.Shadowbane i believe uses a similar system.
The one thing i liked about AO was the PvP zones. The gas suppresion was 25% so you could attack anyone you wanted. The whole problem was that they were so far away it was pure coincidence if you saw anyone else in there.

The aspect I *dislike* most is preset factions. I've actually decided "never again" on RvR, after playing WOW. If a game has all factions preset, then it's not worth my time. I find preset factions boring, the pvp pointless. Basically: I pvp to kill Bad Guys. I pvp to fight those players who opt to roleplay an "evil" persona. And I enjoy that. In the context of the game, I can actually accomplish something - I can "fight evil" and have an effect.
In WOW, DAOC, SWG, whatever - I can't. The "bad guys" are preset. I am not engaging them because of their actions, I am fighting them because they are wearing the other team's football jerseys. It's trite, it's boring, and I find it pointless. I like fighting for a good reason - but I don't feel the same about fighting for nothing.
So, I'd prefer:
- open pvp, or pvp after a certain level
- regional land control, with ability to attack and defend lands
- ability to war other guilds or factions, if not open pvp
- drops of something on death, OR some other way to make a pvp death damage the other player and help the winner, even in a small way
