Launcher pad not responding

I have not logged in for over a week and today the launcher does not work at all. It was fine before and now it will not work. I tried reinstalling flash player and other instructions on the SOE site about allowing the ActiveX in my internet explorer options but to no avail. Is there anyway to launch the game without the launcher ?
I have a win7 64 bit. Has anyone come across this problem will reinstalling help ? I bought the game from D2D.

Okay now after I cleared the cache while the launcher was open then restarting it . It has now moved to the initializing part and becomes non responsive again. I give up. I am going to cancel my sub and uninstall.
Just checked the official forums. Others are having the same issue. This was posted by a tech:
"I've been running scans to the people who've sent their IP address, and the traces are stopping mid-route. It looks like there's an issue on the 'net somewhere as DanKinney alluded to earlier. I've sent it up and I'll let you know what I hear."

What areas are affected?
Yes it started working again. I noticed I was just shocked that the whole game depended on the launcher which seemed like a bottleneck is all.
