I've been looking forward to this update since the details were posted yesterday. Lots of nifty quality of life improvements, enough so that I hope the next update brings us a new infusion of content. I'm basically satisfied with the game itself at this point; the only thing I really need at this point is stuff to actually do.

Edit: Oh dear, I just noticed this was in the news section, not the main FFXIV forum. Here come the trolls...

Awesome, I just reinstalled this morning in anticipation of this update and the changes coming down the pipe over the next few months.

    Perfect timing on my part.

As much as I don't want to see FFXIV become another quest grinder, I do want to see a larger variety of stuff. It would wonderful if they could implement more incentives for things like exploring, trading, repairing, and other non-combat stuffs, don't you think? The SP for combat groups is really nice now, so that's already taken care of.

These series of patches may very well 'save' the game; I played in the last phase of OBT and I liked it, but not to the point of spending money on it.  Hopefully with the upcoming patches, it will be a more complete experience.

wow thats good for us but bad for them?? not sure how they will survive with 3 AAA title coming out this year or 2. I really hope FF still have community to play with. Has the game change a lot since launch?

I just couldnt handle the same missions over and over again, its like theres no progression on story wise?

Square Enix might not be the giant it once was, but trust me they can afford it.. I know they made a lot of money off FFXI, it was the first final fantasy MMO and it is also the most profitable final fantasy there is (yes it even beats FF7.) I know people didn't enjoy FF13 but i'am pretty sure they sold 2+ million copys of that game also.. FF13-X2 should sale decently too..

Honestly if they wanted to rehash lots of money they could just make a FF7 remake for the PS3 or 3DS lol

They are doing a great job cleaning up and fixing the clunky UI and finaly making the market place useable. The change they made to SP/XP gains makes the grind a little less painfull lol. Just waiting on content and maybe some tweaking to the combat.

if they made ff7 again it would awesome. Loved that game, played it over and over again. It was simple and addictive. why cant people make those games anymore??

i just wasnt sure what they thought with quests? redo them over and over again?? and have a reset, practically do dailies but for sepearate brackets levels? just dont get it, do oyu guys find the questing fun at all?

  • XzenXzen Member UncommonPosts: 2,607

I read an interview with the FF guys from SE back when Crisis Core and the Tech Demo with the footage from the beginning of FF7 came out. In the interview they asked them if they were planning to remake FF7 on the PS3. The SE guys reaction was like the guy just talked smack about his mother. It would deffinatly make a lot of mony but who knows if they will ever do it.

They can leave the Leves in.... they just need to give us more to do. I dont know what they were thinking when they released the game and the only content are Leves and a handfull of storyline quests.....

It (as well as several other FF titles) are on the PS network and you can buy them for like 20 bucks a piece, just make sure you have some space available-FF9 takes up like 1.8 gigs.

Since when was this game F2P? (referring to earlier posting)

  • XzenXzen Member UncommonPosts: 2,607

or they can just let FFXIII lay and give us FFXIII versus (gameplay footage from new trailer looks amazing) and move on to the next project.

There has been no subscription fee for this game since "launch" They wont bill us untill the game game is "worth paying for"

well the game was in such bad shape that square enix said the game will be sub when they think its reeady, they apologise for it a while ago, so if you bought the game you can play for free until they say so. Think ps3 version is delay as well.

FF versus combat system think would be like crisis core. not like the old bar timing anymore

Yes the melee/magic looks like Crisis Core and then there is also the third person shooter type game play that is shown.

P.S. To anyone reading this thread that might be thinking of coming back. I want to give my honest opinion on the games current state. They have done a lot of good things with the UI and market. There is still a huge lack of content. I recomend waiting for the next patch (if it does add content). Untill then there still isn't much to do in this game.

  • braingame007braingame007 Member UncommonPosts: 98

First actual content is supposed to be released in March. Feb. Patches are basically laying the ground work for the bigger patches to come in March and after that. This is all info off their official web page, they should also have another patch coming mid Feb. at some point that addresses more changes to other current problems. I will say the new SP/EXP patch they added today is amazing. Went from soloing yellow mobs that gave me 125-150 sp yesterday and they now get 250ish. Also in a big leve group tonight with like 10 or so people I was getting up to 750 sp a kill ( had several leve links and invoked) I am rank 43. Our group was between 38-44

even so new content coming out, still feels like the open world theres not much to do? the levelling is just plain boring? if the game was call something else think the game would of been dead few months ago. Thanks to the name FF its still going strong as a community
