Worst experince of rejoining a game Ive ever had

I left this game after its numerous bugs and poor customer service. I was told that had all changed, mostly from people posting here.

It hasnt. I cant even log into the game. Time card and other bonus card used.

Try to start war, type in my login, instantly comes up with 'authentication failed'. Ive tried all the support suggestion, I like how the installtion guide is a dead link. Thats a nice touch. Now im downloading a 800mb pre-patchfile at the rate of 40/kb sec.

Im glad the developers of war wised up and appreciated impressions of player who give a game a second chance. Im loving waiting 8 hours for that file, not to mention the 24 hour repsonse time on my submitted help request.

Till I manage to get this game working, ill go play eve online. An mmo that actually works.

I reactivated my account back sometime in December and I had to do the entire download from their patch server.  All 7 GBs came down in less than 3 hours; I really don’t remember the rate as I went out to eat after I started the download and it was done when I came home.  I’ve been able to log in and play at anytime I desired.

Maybe you should check your credentials as the credentials for the account management and the game are two different sets of user names and passwords (unless you make them the same).

Thanks for you help. I can now log in and watch as the patch stays at 0% and nothing happens. lol

Rejoining was a huge mistake. Trust me. I love Warhammer so much. Have a few armies myself (40k included), but this game is dead. 1.4 has broke the game even more. It wasn't even tested. The day it dropped so much shit broke. I mean, just go to the official forums and take a look at what people are talking about. And you can bet that when the next Producer's Letter (or w.e. it's called) comes out, it'll go on about how great the 1.4 patch was. Truth is, they obviously didn't learn anything from DAoC, which was great, especially in it's early days.

I just jumped back in recently and I am saddened by what i found.  I love Warhammer and I even loved it when it first came out.  I played for about 8 months straight.  Back then, there was at least some population.  It wasn't all that hard to find some action.  Now, the place is a ghost town.  The thing about a PVP centric game is that there has to be someone around to fight with.  otherwise, you are stuck doing PVE which was never a strong point for WAR.

I'm certainly not the first to say it but it may be time to go full on FTP with some kind of microtransaction shop.  That's the only way they will be able to squeeze any life at all out of this game.  Otherwise, I predict they will announce that they are shutting down the servers by Fall of this year.

Even if they do go FTP, it may be too little, too late.

Some people like to gloat when they see a game whither and die on the vine the way WAR is doing.  I'm just saddened and disapointed.

I dont think even FTP will bring it back. People have been givin them some great ideas and suggestions for years now, and they don't listen. And when they do listen, they screw the pooch even more, take the recent AFK "fix" for example. Or Skaven not being a plyable race, but rather a bastardized version of LotRO's monster play. There's just been too many lay offs, not enough cash, and not enough talent.

Honestly, I wish someone else (Blizzard, CCP, hell I'd even take Cryptic at this point) would buy the rights to WAR Online and do something with it. It'd be in better hands than it is in now.

But, if I had to have a high hope for WAR, it'd be that once The Old Republic is out, some of the Bioware people can help out more with WAR. It'd be nice considering how a few people from the WAR team worked on the TOR team helping out with PVP stuff and whatnot.

Yeah I had that authentication failed thing a couple months ago when was retrying WAR myself. It's a really stupid problem that I had to fix by creating a new Mythic ID then creating a new Warhammer ID (which is different, something  I didn't realize at first),  then if you mess it up again, you have to make another one again...simply: it involves a bunch of stupid steps for such a simple thing. It's so sad that a lot of MMO's (war, vanguard), first have a bad start, but even worst: get screwed over in their old age by simple problems that their respective developers could easily have fixed.

    Latest update.

The game started patching at 4pm yesterday. It is now 12pm. Thats 20 hours of patching and it still needs to download and patch a further 2GIG.

My connection speed is a good rate. My computer is good so its none of these factors.

20 hours plus to patch and download a game... W..T....F

Good luck, and I hope you can enjoy it at least somewhat.

I've always had respect for Mythic but after trying to rejoin and dealing with their "support" (which is a joke) I have nothing good to say about them. Warhammer is dead and gone and so is my money.

If it ain't dead you're not pressing 2 hard enough.

  • Aroich1Aroich1 Member Posts: 36

Impressions of the game so far. Not good.

Order is steamrolling in teir 3 and 4. Open RVR does not exist.

Elitest guilds are abundant, refusing recruits unless theyre rr70+.

All rvr groups are closed to random players. I'm sure its one part getting to keep the renown and xp for themselfs and the other part of random players not listening.  Meaning they outdamage random players by far.

Which means you can deal damage for an hour and get no xp what so ever.

The market consists of nothing but boots, gloves and potions.

You have to pay for a non-existant expansion pack that allows you  lvl from 80-99 renown rank.

All that being said the game is actually quite fun, even though theres nothing to do or any reason to do it.

Which server did you join?  I play on Badlands (Order) and Destro badly outnumbers us.

For the longest time Badlands was extremely Destro heavy, as well as being overpopulated overall. Neither of those is the case since the vast waves of unsubs have came in.

    Latest update. karak-azgul.

Game is full of the same old bugs that where there last year. Same old glitches, same old bugs.

I'm bored, that temporary fun is gone. Game is not fun running in circles doing rvr attacking, retreating, attacking, retreating.

I have no intention of lvling in a mind numbing renown points system just so I can get some better armor to survive against players with better armor.

They have done nothing to improve the game.

Same here.  I was having a blast leveling up a Zealot and a Chosen to t3, then 1.4 happened.

I had the worst feeling after running in my 2nd warband after 1.4.  Just amazing how utterly unfun they made a game that at least was great for a couple hours a night of pvping.  I was really sad to see so much enjoyment taken away in a snap.

Interesting.  I guess what some consider fun, others dont.  I just resubbed after a 4 month break and I'm having a blast.  I have toons in all 4 tiers and haven't had a problem (except T3) in finding plenty of rvr.  I mostly play during the day time hours in the US, east coast.  Im on IR for Order and Gorfang for Destro.

They just announced a server merge so populations should come up some, which will be nice.

My problem with WAR that I discovered after rejoining was the pvp gear grind. When the rr90+ started popping up 2-shotting me I was thinking how much time it would take to get on even footing.

Well truth be told WAR should shut down. It completely failed to cater to Warhammer and DAoC fans. Instead they tried to cater to the WoW fans, which has failed.

And now it is far too late to breath any life into this game as nothing short of a full third faction, and maybe even that, wont be enough.

I just hope that someone in the future, with genuine respect for the Warhammer franchise, makes a new Warhammer MMO. One with several factions and much more deep (and dark) like the Warhammer lore is. Not some glorified WoW clone.

I could not agree with you more.  Very well said.

Someone already did. It's called Rift and made by Trion (without the RvR), hehe.

Quite a few WAR devs defected to Trion and are working there right now. Rift uses the exact same engine as WAR so the look/feel is there and they already are familiar with the code. PQs are there and more fun than the ones in WAR. Has two factions just like WAR. Seriously, that's where half the WAR players are going when Rift comes out anyways according to the officials, the PvP servers.

As for EA sending people BACK to work on WAR once SWTOR launches, never happen in a million years. Once a game launches, that's when you need people stabilizing it until the kinks are worked out. They can't just launch SWTOR and send people back to a game where no one is playing anymore and there are only two servers.

WAR had it's short time in the sun but it's time for the old folks home and shuffleboard.

There merging the American servers down to 2 soon and with Andy belford Jumping ship last week I think it's pretty safe to presume the writing ison the wall for Warhammer.

    I didn't know this.

But when I played the last couple of beta events, I noticed the mob animation and ai reminded me a lot of WAR pve. That's really what turned me off of Rift.

I haven't experienced Rift pvp at all. Maybe I didn't give Rift a fair chance because of getting smacked in the face with WAR pve. But I don't want to buy rift at this point with it's current animations.

You have Open Beta on Feb 15th to try it out for 6 days for free.

I have been in the rift beta since the first and as it stands now, PVP in rift leaves a lot to be desired.  If you like spawn camping and killing people that way I guess it's fun, for about 5 minutes, but all in all, imo PVP doesnt cut it yet.

Spawn camping you say?  This is different from War how?

I didn't care much for the pvp in rift either, it was ok, nothing special.  Before I quit War for the last and final time in December, every scenario was pretty much a spawn camp.  If you are pugging, you get spawn camped.  If you are in a premade, you spawn camp the pugs.  It was awful.
