So, what is your favorite class combo in Rift? Please tell us about your combinations and why you like it. I tried all kinds of combinations and I think I found my personal favourite.
Usually I just end up laying rogues but I gotta admit the clerics in Rift are just awesome. I kinda fell in love with my Shaman (powerful elemental melee, damage sucking shields) / Inquisitor ( death magic, bolts and beams) / Druid (summons&heals) combination. I felt like I was equipped on all situations and the character was really fun to play with. I only got the play around lvl 16 since I spent so much time playing with my marksman and necromancer too, but I think cleric is the one I'll go when we launch.
How about you?
Comments
Two current roles i play are Inq/Cab/Pur and to heal dungeons War/Pur
cleric (i play healers in MMOs since 2006? 2005? so it's not a surprise). not only can i tank DPS or heal, but it also kicks some major ass.
Purifier/Inqui/Justicar.
Justicar (10 points) only for selfheals, Inquisitor for AoE and Purifier (1 point) only for the basic shield to cast before i start channeling my Inquisitor spells.
Just a note: Inquisitor bolts suck. Badly. It's not a 1vs1 class, it's an AoE class taht relies on the Circle of Oblivion and soul drain. During OB i will test the possibility of using Justicar melee to thrive in 1 vs 1 and not lose the AoEs
Druid/Shaman/Sentinel for general dps
Druid/Shaman/Sentinel (different distribution) for offensive PvP
Sentinel/Purifier/Warden for general healing
Justicar/Shaman/Druid for general tanking (needs work).
Well I did have the flavor of the month
Warior/Beastmaster/Rfitblade oh well, now thats been blanced out next beta i will have to try something new.
I had a fun time with Warlock/Necromancer/Dominator. Mostly went up the necromancer tree with a few points into the other ones. It was basically like WoW's Affliction spec'ed warlock with a bit of a mage. My feel is that the above combo is a very strong in PvE, especially solo PvE. I haven't been able to test it much in PvP but I don't really like PvP in Rift anyway.
I also messed around with Purifier/Inquisitor/Cabalist. While that combo is also very good, I didn't really enjoy the flow of the combat. Just wasn't my thing.
My favorite so far is Mage: Necro/Warlock/Dom. (the suggested combo). I tried some of my own pairings, but most lacked crowd control. The squirrel morph is a life saver. Also has Fear at later levels.
Second fav is Rogue: Hunter/Marksman/Sab I think it was. Same prob here as before as hunter/Marksman seemed like alot of the same type of shots, and that was the suggested pairing. So still want to do some tweeking. I just wish there was a way to totally pick new souls, not just reset your tree points.
Ranged game play is my style so l'll start the game with a Guardian mage and a Defiant rogue.
I really am LOVING this game. Im blown away with how polished it is. (Thank God someone is getting it right before release). I went from the normal to the $10.00 upgade as I now got me the sweet Turtle mount and man is it a smooth ride
Thank god I get 4 diferent roles in game, because I'm having a serious problem trying to figure out which one of the mage souls I like the best.
Currently, I'm jumping between Stormcaller, Warlock, and Pyromancer souls. Each one excels at survivability, AoE, or single target DPS respectively, and right now I'm not high enough level to do hybrid builds... So I've been focusing on a single soul...
If I had to pick just one I would say my Warlock/Chloromancer/Archmage build is my favorite. I've always wanted to play a cloth tank, and now I can
Paladin/Reaver/Warlord.
I tanking. That way I can complain about healers.
___________
The most erroneous stories are those we think we know best - and therefore never scrutinize or question.
Justicar/druid/warden
Bard/Rng/NB
Ahh yes. the Warrior Mage Tank. remember it has not worked yet but who knows.
MAGA
There is a way to unlock new souls with quests, so you can for example switch that Hunter into Assassin, if you like. But I'm not sure if it's possible to pick warrior or mage souls, if you start as a rogue?
Bard/Assassin/Ranger for me. 36 pts in Bard/21 in Assasin and the rest in Ranger giving an in combat 15% raid wide in combat run speed bonus, improved stealth from the Assassin tree and a pet. Deoesn't get more swiss army knife than that. Mobile AoE heal, good buff/debuff capability, AoE stun, and I can be a freaking pied piper to boot. Whats not to love?
No.
Mage - Warlock/Chloromancer/Dominator
Cleric - Inquisitor/Cabalist/Purifier
Warrior - Paladin/Champion/Riftblade
Rogue - Blade Dancer/Nightblade/Assassin
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
Explorer: 87%, Killer: 67%, Achiever: 27%, Socializer: 20%
Cab/Pur/War not everyones choice but i like.
The following statement is false
The previous statement is true
sab/ass/bard
gotta love ruuning up hidden sticking 5 frag bombs on a flag carrier stabing a few times in back then run and as he runs after you hit detonate
I love RIFT,I love my rogue. He wins almost every WarFront(90% wins ), check this out :
This is just a few screens when I top damage dealt / healing or damage taken. You can figure out builds by my actiobars.
Bard/Ranger/Rift
Pet. Heals. Dps. Teleports. Not to mention I get to rock out on a guitar.
OP much? I think so.
Lets not forget High Elf racial for the totally badass 30 yard jump on a 15 second cooldown. Jump over the canyon/river? Np.
Shaman/Justicar/druid
Shaman for damage & shield, justicar for melee heals (and few other heals) and druid for the fairy
I also really like the Justicar/Shaman/Druid.
Fun to play. :]
Gonna head for Satyr with the Druid soul.
SexuaLobster's Grease Portal
I played a lot of the necro/warlock/dom. It was fun, no downtime, decent dps, a lot of 'plan Bs'.
Has anyone liked the other mage soul combos? I couldn't try it yet...
My fave atm with Warrior archtype is Paladin/Champion/Beastmaster.
I specialize into Paladin for tanking, but Champion is nice for the Charge skill, and 5% dmg buff. And the beast masters pet also gives extra dps. I kill things so fast with this spec, its really amazing dps to be a tank.
Mage I like Elementalist the most. With Pyromancer following close behind.
There are so many options!
I currently have a rogue - Ranger/Bladedancer/Marksman, but I am thinking of swapping out marksman with Bard and see how that goes. I might try Sabotuer for fun.
My warrior is Beastmaster/Champion/Riftblade. I am very happy with that solid template.
I also recenly rolled a cleric - Cabalist/Druid/Sentinel and am having a blast, but not sure how the tmplate will pan out as I level up (currently lvl 12).
I rolled a mage class, Necro/Warlock/Dominator, but it is too soon to tell if I like the template, let alone the class.
I am hoping that I have a firm idea of what I will start with when Headstart begins after this next beta event.
The build i use for questing, small rifting and just generally when im out and about chilling in the world (which is most of my time) is a Cleric calling Shaman/Justicar/Sentinal build. great melee Dps, good survivability & decent self healing.
In dungeons/Large rifts ill be using a Deep Purifier healing spec with Warden and Sentinal for some bonuses.
Addition: for my other two specs ill be going Cabalist/Inquisitor/Purifier for casting & Justicar/Shaman/Druid for Tanking.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
I really enjoyed the Bard/Ranger/Marksman back in beta 4, then I gave an Elementalist/Pyromancer/Archon a try. The mage build was very fun and I am curious to see if Stormcaller instead of Archon will bring a bit more pain to the table.
