Hey guys.
I dropped those 40 bucks, thinking this would just be a game to kill time untill something bigger n' better comes along.
I was very sceptic, specially because 40 bucks seems like alot when you haven't tried it yet.
But damn, was I in for a surprise, this game is possibly the best sandbox ever created.
This has been said about a lot of games, "it has potential", but in this case it's different, and I'll tell you why.
When people think sandbox, they think about a big open and vast world, where they can go wherever they want, build whatever they want.
They want their own house, they want to look unique, and be able to identify themselves with their character.
All this is possible in Xsyon, THIS, is what Xsyon is build around, it's true to the word "Sandbox".
Most of you guys have probably gotten to know Darkfall, sure, it was cool PvP game, but there wasn't much sandbox about it, basicly it was a big arena where everyone fought over keeps and villages, keeps and villages which location was pre-set by the Devs.
But not in Xsyon, in Xsyon you can build wherever you want.
Everything have to be build, you need to build tools, tools you'll later use to build other things, or tools you need to to catch your food.
Cause in Xsyon you need to eat, you need to drink, you need to stay warm and dry, you need clothes, you need shelter.
This world is dangerous, it's a world after the apocalypse.
You are a survivor, and you need to rebuild this world, build a better future for you and your tribe.
What will you be?
A lone wolf roaming the mountains, a tribe leader leading your people to build huge towns, or maybe you'll form a small cannibal tribe who prey on other humans.
Maybe you'll find rare resources, and become a trader, or master crafter, it's all up to you!
This game has a huge world, with seasons, summer, fall, winter and spring, it has a realistic moon cycle, and day n' nights.
Form the lands however you like, make roads between cities, cities that are all build by other players.
Make trade alliances, or make war!
When you first see the character creater, you will think "These graphics are ugly", but wait untill you get in game, it's quite good graphics, and beautiful world.
I have to add that some features on the featurelist are not in game yet, but the devs really listen to what the players say, and they work very hard! Just in the 4 days that I've been in this game, I've seen the game improve.
The prelaunch is at the 18th Feb. This means that if you pre-order, you will have access to beta untill the 18th, then the game will launch for preorders untill the 1st march, then it will open for everyone else.
If you are looking for a sandbox, then don't fear dropping those 40 bucks, seriously, you won't regret it.
I hope to see some of you guys in game.

Hello Rockgod99
The combat video you are speaking of is very outdated now, the combat has improved a lot!, it still needs work, but the devs have stated that this is what they will focus on untill launch.
The Devs in this game really stick to their vision, a vision of giving players freedom to do whatever they want.
You are right, Eve, UO, and SWG are good games.
EvE is about spreadsheets though, UO is very old by now and so is the graphics, SWG was in the minds of many gamers ruined.
Xsyon might not have the best graphics, but people also got to remember that this is a big open vast world with no loading screens except for the login.
And you really can do whatever you want in this game already, the game just has some minor features to implement and some bug fixing.
I'm not really scared of getting peoples hope up on this one, cause everyone I talked to in-game has stated that they were sceptic of dropping the 40 bucks, just like myself, but was positively surprised and happy that they did it.
But thanks for your comment, I hope I answered your question.

Edit: Many people in game commented that when the combat get's an overhaul, then this game is "The new UO"
I'll get it when i get paid at end of month, will miss the pre-order offer and early start, but will work out better playing release client.
is there combat in this game or is it just a Sims mmo? full loot pvp? all i see from youtube vids is fishing and walking arround.
Yes there is full loot pvp.
As of right now, the tribe areas are safe zones, this is because the world needs to be rebuilt before there is anything to fight about.
Noone wants to fight over a stack of grass, and some limestones.
But outside of tribezones you can kill people, take their stuff and skin them, you know, take their scalps and their bones, and then craft stuff out of it.
The combat videos on youtube is outdated as I said before.
It already have been improved, it still needs some work, but the devs will focus on this until launch.
Im gonna be honest with you. Im really exited about this game but im going to wait until the official release before i buy it. As of now the combat looks like its a click fest. Who clicks the fastets wins.
Combat is not the main focus of this game as of yet ( The main focus is rebuilding the world after the apocalypse ) After the first chapter of the game called the prelude i have heard tribal warfare will be a much larger part of the game. And the devs have said they are working on a major combat overhaul in witch the combat will be more silmular to games like Mount and Blade.
That's great! looking forward to seeing you ingame.

lets just make sure they never add global chat or in game map!
that 'anti-feature' I actually love.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

You are very correct sir.
Right now it's about rebuilding the world, later it will be possible to fight over lands, resources etc.
There is global chat in the game for beta only, this will be removed at launch, there is no ingame map, there is however player made maps floating around the internet.
Is it a FFA PvP game ?
Yes, read the whole thread, and you will understand
I just dont get how this is a game. Maybe I dont get the "sandbox" thing but a few quests and a little hand holding would be nice Not my kinda game for sure but I hope the ppl like it who spent money on it.
I spent money on the unfinished game Earthrise.....
Kat
There are quests, they're just player made.

Oh it is FFA then I'll pass.I hope it does well for those who enjoy it.
never really liked unstructured FFA pvp it breaks immersion imo and ends up populated by a world of homicidal maniacs. People don't act like that, they fight over things for a reason and it should be the same in these games. Like guild wars, city sieges ect, of course there are thieves and brigands in the world I guess if there were stiff penalties for random pk'ing it can work like it did in L2,, you COUD kill anyone but you'd regret it so you better have a good reason.
Is there some kind of karma system or anything for just randomly slaughtering noobs? if not, prolly not for me. That being said I adore faction based pvp and pvp in general just not random meaningless ganking, always makes for a shit community eventually and a game that never grows because new people are constantly farmed aka darkfall.
I have heard that their are severe penalties for players who just want do go around killing. Besides they will get a bad reputation ingame. So people will reject trading with them etc..
It is FFA although it has safezones in tribal towns during Prelude. And Jooky clearly stated that he won't allow griefing and don't want this game to be all about PvP.
There is alignment system in the game that should keep the game balanced. Jooky considers "divine interventions" in case thing go out of hand.
This game is not for people who live for PvP and it not for people who doesn't want to fight at all. Most of the player base seams to agree with that.
given that baskets have permissions I THINK what this all means is I can put a several baskets near this good harvest location I found and put all the stuff in there as I go and then either start to build my village there or bring it to villages for trade and do it completely safely as long as it not in my backpack

Any better game play videos available than the ones on youtube right now? Because to be honest, after what I saw on youtube, you can tell this games graphics are seriously lacking in many ways. Even Mount and Blade, a game created by 5 people, looks better than this.
This is correct.
And also, most people in this game are very helpful, they want to interact with you, they want to help you, they want to trade with you.
There will always be that one guy who comes along and slaughter you while you are fishing outside of your tribal area, for no reason, but that is not the main focus of the game.
But this is rare, the world is huge.
And if you are close ot your tribal area you can just run inside it, then he can't hurt you, but you can hurt him.
But people are very helpful in this game, if you are missing a tool, or something else, you can always find someone who are willing to help you out.
It's a really relaxed atmophere in game.
Go to youtube and search " Saintbob001 "
He is making tutorials for Xsyon, they are quite new.
But trust me when i say that the graphics really isn't that bad.
The character creater looks like **** to be honest, but the game itself is good-looking.
The graphics are far from Aion, or Rift, and all the new mmo's, but think about how small their worlds / zones are.
Xsyon is 1 huge world with no loading screen between zones, only loading screen is when you log in.
And tbh, I'd rather have gameplay over graphics, which the "new age mmo's" seems to do the other way around.
They just want to have something pretty to show off at conventions to lure people into their shallow and linear games.
In all fairness the current existing world is not nearly as large and people are suggesting however its also very clear that the 'greenzone' will either be removed or expanded after release because you can see terrian in the greenzone, its just deadly to walk in it.
With that said, I think if I had to choose between a small less dynamic world but great graphics or a larger more dynamic world with less graphics I think i would take the less graphics as well.
I watched a documentry on human behaviour on virtual reality and appartently the graphics do not have to be nearly as amazing as people think for the brain to be 'tricked' into the world. it does however take a little time being in the world for the effect to take place.

looks interesting, kind of reminds of of A tale in the desert, perhaps I'll give it a go.
Game does look fun and engaging. The crafting stuff looks very well thought out.
