Due to technical issues, it became hard for most of us to know what the game we bought is capable of.
In this thread, I'll create two lists. One relating to the state of the game, the other relating to our expectations.
First list: State of the game
_There is a tutorial.
_There are basic quests to do in this tutorial. Most involve killing mobs/ Fedex.
_There are mobs in the game, I don't know whether they have an AI. Mobs seem to be dropped on the map in a hazardous pattern.
_The skill system looks great. I wasn't able to explore it yet. The game doesn't run well enough on my computer.
_There is a city, Sal Vitas. It regroups 10-20 buildings. Each of the building looks empty, we can't interact with them.
_There is something which looks like a crafting system, but no one is able to use it yet.
Expectation:
_Developp a true crafting system, introduce ressources, harvesters...
_Add more mobs to the game, make them collaborate together to attack cities, make it challenging for players.
_Solve the lag problem to let more people try skill development system.
_Change the engine.
_Add more cities to the game. Modify Sal Vitas to make it looks alive, a bit more like Theed or any other SWG cities.
_Allow players to create their owns cities.
_Developp two clear factions. Currently it is free 4 all.
Over. Is it even possible to bring so many changes on a live server? Even the NGE didn't modify SWG at that point.
I'll continue to support the game for the next 2 months, it really has something.. But will it matter? Could it be already too late for this game?

I think it can be done, its a question on how fast they fix the performance issues, content and modification of stuff like cities is easy compared to the technical issues that currently plague the game, for example ostiak said the servers are hosted in new york, since i just got the game im going to trace the servers since a couple of days ago a player did it and they were still in the west coast.........hope not since that would mean hes lying, he also said lag issues are the result of coding of the server client
and some infrastructure problems which sounds reasonable, but one interesting little detail he said was the next patch they are modifying the client so that you can customize your settings for the fps to improve, whats interesting about that is, its not the settings themselves, but a massive bug or engine coding issue that causes the client to load textures straight from your
hard drive and not preload them into your graphics card, so if they keep avoiding or trying to lie about stuff like that then the future is not so good, what i dont understand is that back in 2008 when they had their live demos the engine ran great with no stutering it was fluid, so somekind of coding changed and introduced the current texture bug what i dont understand is why dont they try to look back at those builds and see what changed does not make much sence.
