    Seems like my characters are missing too, along with several other people on the forums before they went "under maintanence" ... Probably because something got fucked up and now they don't want to deal with the community about it.

     

    I like this game alot and I am having tons of fun, but I hope this sort of thing does not happen when this game goes live. I already pre-ordered it, and will keep my pre-order.

    In the first betas they had very little issues, now they have lots.

    ISP in the UK are also blocking the game, BT won't let Rift through because they use big internt packages, so players are screwed.

    edit: IPS = ISP sorry

    Oh no, they opened BETA to more players than ever and the servers hiccuped!?

    WTF were they thinking, it's almost like they were trying to stress test their hardware...what fools.

    To be honest, this is the first issue i've ever had with the Rift Beta.  I've never had a DC or even a lag spike that wasn't my own.  This will be fixed within ten minutes in all likelyhood.  If it's more than 45 minutes of downtime i'll be amazed, because it's just been so incredibly smooth since the very begining.

    Rift has flaws, no doubt about that.  But it's stability, customer support, and maintenence, are not any of them =)

    The data servers are down they have updates on their twitter page.

    Best to check for fast response info there.

    All characters are in tact.

    Lets see, it is the beginning of primetime on the first day of OPEN beta. Possibly, just maybe, a lot of people are hitting their website at once.  Could be why they are having a beta. You know, test capacity, that sort of thing.

    I have the same problem and as people have stated it's still beta, not to mention that they have more players playing than before.. If you can't see that they stress test and bug fix during beta, you probably shouldn't play beta to begin with.

    Personally this is the only problem I've encountered in the game so far and it's really not that terrible.

    It's the first prime time of Open Beta! Stress Testing, including intentional adjustment of server settings to stress individual components and test bottlenecks. Pretty common for Open Beta and an important step, so there are no problems at launch.

    It sucks, we all want to play, but this is very common and right on schedule, for those who have been in betas before.

    It's the first day of open beta, so the servers are getting slammed. I'm sure the characters are still there, but the database with the pfiles on it crashed. When the servers started to crash, everyone went to the forums to complain about it, and the forums crashed. This will get worked out. It's not the ideal start, but it's not surprising. As long as it doesn't happen again on head start/launch day, no worries.
