hey everyone who is planning to join us. Just a few more details.
I'm in game right now, name is Azmyth. My job sort of allows me to be able to stay logged in and play when i'm not working, so I'll be in game nearly 24/7 even if i am not actively playing. So, if i don;t answer immediately during the day, thats why.
and for people who might be able to join us later, thats perfectly find. hopefully we will have the numbers to run content multiple times with different groups. the first event I want to focus on is the level 20 raid, in la theine. not sure if any of you guys remember it.

Perhaps, but it would still be a waste of time if you don't have the ability to level with people. I dont play FF11 but I do read up on it, and my biggest concern is Abyssea. That's the main reason I've avoided it. Supposedly all the other areas in the game are empty because all the high levels are too busy grinding Abyssea and the low levels tag along opening chests to get power-leveled. If I were to join a group and we're doing things together, and I get into the game, it would be disappointing to go away for a week and come back seeing I have no one to play with anymore, and will be forced into Abyssea because that's where everyone is now.
Is that a legitimate fear or are people just exaggerating the negative impact Abyssea has had on the game?
Its a legit concern, but i've seen plenty of lowbies this morning,. also, we are ignoring abyssea as of now .. I don't even have them. The idea here is to pretend the game was just released, and play through everything from level 1-90, we may decide to do some abyssea to experience it, but this LS will not be participating in the instant level 90 stuff that people talk about, which I think requires a ton of veteran players to even do anyway. Its not as easy to do as everyone tries to make out, especially for new or players starting over, unless you leeched off another LS, which as I said.. you miss out on so much by doing that,. I'd say, take at least one job through the old fashioned way.. if you want to level subs that way, I don't agree with it.. but i can live with that.

Just what I wanted to hear. Alright, bough it, downloading it, and I'll toss you a PM when I get there. Still have to decide on a class. I enjoy supportive classes, but I'm told I should avoid those as a noob. Thoughts or suggestions from anyone who knows better than me?

but this LS will not be participating in the instant level 90 stuff that people talk about, which I think requires a ton of veteran players to even do anyway. Its not as easy to do as everyone tries to make out, especially for new or players starting over, unless you leeched off another LS,
Very true, I've sat in on a couple friends playing over the past year since Abyssea has launched each part and they have been playing for the better part of the past 8yrs together and have the best of the best of the best gear. Many of them have at least one piece of Mythic Gear, {which prior to the lvl cap increase with Abyssea could take up to 2yrs to earn} they are also sporting their Empyrean Weapon as well as full sets of the subsequent Empyrean Armor for multiple jobs. On top all that, they've been working together, upgrading and making that gear even more powerful through the Trial of the Magians.
The primary friend whom is local where I sit in, has been playing as a Galka WAR, and honestly the damage he causes is unheard of. Prior to Abyssea and unless you're doing magic burting at the end of weapon skill chains most crits were landing for around 900-1200dmg, and the highest I ever saw was 1782. Anyway, when he activates hit 2hr and has all his buffs on as well as his new abilities post lvl 80 that WAR has gotten, I've seen him do regular hits for around 2200-2800 and land criticals in upwards of 5700. Sadly I've not been present when he's used the Primeval Brew to get Trancendancy but every swing after, that lands for the next 3 min are 9999 which is the maximum damage standard to most FF games!
Anyway, to get in on an Abyssea leeching session with an LS of this calibur is very rare, unless you know them or someone in it very well. And even then highly doubtful... However keep in mind that this style of play is more for players that have been roaming Vana'diel for the past 8 yrs and needed something new and exciting to delve into. All the while, the core game with its incredible journey and exciting quests and missions are still there in all their original glory for new and returning players starting over to enjoy. One does not need Abyssea to earn lvl 90, heck if you wanted too you could get to lvl 90 just using level sync and hosting PTs in Qufim at lvl 20-25. Or if you're crazy go back to lvl 14-20 in the Valkurm Dunes...hehe
Okay, so what it the job situation right now?? Is there any job you guys/gals desperatly need? Or DONT need?
I enjoy all playing styles...get back to me before I start tonight.
Honestly, look through all the classes and pick which ever you want. right now, I'm a warrior so I'll be able to tank whenever it's needed, but once i unlock Samurai at 30, I'll be going Sam/War. This may change over time though, the great thing about FFXI is that you can switch to a new class whenever you want from your mog house, just because you start as a white mage doesnt mean you are stuck being a white mage, if you decide you'd rather be a monk, then head over to your mog house and switch to monk! No need to make new characters to be different classes. That also helps if some people choose to come later, if we are already a high level when you join us, we have like 18 other classes lvl 1 that we can come lvl with you.
Have they updated the graphics in XI since launch? I remember the game not looking that great when it came out, lots of super low res textures and it just looked BAD. The art style was great but it looked terrible on pc and there wasn't much you could tweak to make it look better.

Don't forget level sync too, once you get past level 10 on any job/class you can level sync down to someone's level and get xp and party with them. Very nice system especially in conjunction with the fields of valor books.

No there has never been an engine upgrade save for the new expansions have been drawn to look better, as most MMOs do. You can however tweak the registry forcing it to look way better than the maximum standard settings. Lemme find some pics of what it looks like all maxed out. In the mean time check here for a guide on how to do registry editing
For an MMO going on its 9th year, is still looks pretty damn good...

Crazy how XI looks so much more enticing than the newer release.
I always wanted to get into FF XI but when I tried the trial out once the graphics were simply horrendous and bleeding all over the place. Did you go through some specific instructions to get those snazzy looking screenshots?
Also, I was told that it would be a year + before I got to the endgame and grouping with other people, is that true?

It is funny that this LS is looking to start on the same server. As one of your posters did mention a very similar LS exists currently on Titan called Sentinel. Here is the original thread from Allakhazam.
It is always a good idea to try and get like minded individuals together in circumstances such as this. We currently have around 40-50 members ranging from husband and wife teams just enjoying taking their time, learning the basics in the teens, to seasoned veterans offering their advice and crafting skills to our newer players while sync'ing down and running groups ranging from simple XP to quest, mission, garrison, etc.
Look any of our officers up Galicia, Centurion, Vandred, or myself Shadex should you wish to coordinate any efforts.
Great idea! This topic encouraged me enough to buy this game and give it a try. Downloading it now I've played ffxiv for a month or so but...... let's just say, i'm hoping for a better experience.
Content ID Reactivation $12.95 (does anyone know if that includes a month's sub?)
World Transfer $25.00
I really want to play, just dont want to shell out so much cash iin one go...
I'm thinking about reactivating the end of this month/beginning next month.
World xffer would have to wait if at all.
Also of thinking of buying a copy off steam and rerolling... but that just hurts me inside thinking of the hours logged to level my tarutaru ><

Warzod, I met one of your members a bit ago.
I didn't know you guys existed until I was heavily into the process of making this happen. I don't know how you'd want to work it, but I'm all for getting together and doing content. I was just trying to lead the helm since, in my experiences of following people to games, they always bail on me. What I might suggest is keeping our two linkshells seperate for now, unless everyone thats currently on board with Reformation wants to all go to yours. It matters little to me, I just know that my purpose was to be very dedicated to doing old content, but not having to dedicate your life to the game. I'm a husband, and father myself so I have other responsibilities as well to tend to. Let me know what you'd suggest or we can meet in game later to discuss it, and for now I'll continue on as planned.

each nation has their own set of Missions i think. If everyone is going Sandy i'd recommend doing the same so you guys can do the beginning missions together....
I think after like rank 6 you start doing them together with other nations. maybe soon not sure. The story was one of my favorite aspects of the game.
A lot of the quests/missions are very difficult solo. A party or higher level is almost always necessary.
