Free Trial? Great. One problem: Client is Extremely Hard to Get

BorkotronBorkotron Member Posts: 282

I eagerly want to try this game. Problem is, the client is only available via P2P. I'm staring at utorrent right now. Zero seeders. It's been three days for a 9GB download and I'm only at 12%. The installer on the web site doesn't work. Every time I download and run  it, I get a "file is corrupted" error message.

I just don't get it. Why develop a game when you can't even support its distribution? I went through this with Darkfall. Now I am being stupid and doing it again with MO.

/sigh

I had no problem whatsoever downloading this game, even with my slow connection. I downloaded the game installer and just patched those 9 gigs over the night while I was sleeping. A friend of mine who has a damn good connection took nearly 5 days to download though, no idea what the deal is to be honest. Can't really give you any tips to increase speed I'm afraid :/

I'm using the official Mortal Online download client, yes it runs a torrent, meaning you may want to shut down your other torrents, but I'm routinely getting speeds of 80-100 kilobytes/second from, whereas the other torrent I'd tried on the theory it would be quicker was doing single digits with 6 seeds & 6 peers connected.

I did get a "File corrupted" crash, but deleting the downloaded portion of that file from my drive let me start over from there, rather than the beginning, & it's already got past the point at which it crashed (I initially started <36hrs ago, it has estimated just over 8 hrs for each of the 1st 2 chunks, I assume the 3rd will be about the same, & the final one a bit less).

I just want to apologize for using this forum to bitch as I did. I'm very eager to play this game and I was finally able to download the installer last night and it took only a few hours to download/patch the game.

Not an issue.  It's frustrating when things don't work right, but I'm glad you got it corrected.

    Welcome to the game!  image

This should download to Os drive eg C:then try to download via the launcher if not the torrents in the MO folder can be manually started with U-torrent and wallah.

Doesn't matter anyway, I can't run the game. Durning loading it gets stuck then crashes with a "fatal error".

Considering all the complaining about the install process, I would say you with your positive experience are in the minority, and it's not their net at fault.
