With a features list that barely describes any PvP at all, and no sieging to speak of, you wouldn't know it by reading the forums that seem be dominated by PvP threads. Added to that is, anytime someone speaks out against pvp, they are typically bombarded with carebear jpegs, and insults.

Look, don't get me wrong, this game needs pvp, and I enjoy pvp a lot. But as the anti-Rift folks are saying... If i wanted to play Darkfall, I would be playing Darkfall....

With the last Update post the devs clearly stated that there will be 1 server, and this server will have the 'Peace' ruleset, as in constant safe zones and optional tribewar-conquering system.  The PvP crowd expected something else so they were trying to change the game thats why those PvP threads flooded the forum, but after the last update and the more srict from rules these threads are dieing.

Hey i actually just got a refund for the game, not because of the PVE vs PVP crowd tear, but because of what the game will be for the forseeable future.

The pvp crowd has it right...you can only do so much with crafting, especially during prelude, as nothing can be destroyed, nothing decays, and terraforming, while sounding like an awesome feature, quickly loses its appeal after you get your tibes camp done right.

So what are people going to do...craft baskets and items just to have them?

Look if this game had some unique and exciting crafting system, more than add mats and watch the bar fill up.  Or items had a serious PVE use, then i could see the PVE crowds point of view better.

However this isnt the case, its standard issue gather and craft.  Without pvp, theres little use if it all other than collection purposes.

This is part of why i asked for the refund, the game is focused on pve, however they pve system is very lacking, even as described in the next phase of the game nearly a year down the road.  The craft system is boring, and the items made have very little use without pvp, even if decay is added.  However, the combat system in the game is possibly the least appealing part.

So you have the least appealing part of the game appealing the most to most people, pvp combat.  This is a serious issue IMO, and a reason i decided to pull out and watch how this game develops.  PVP with a terrible combat system might be more entertaining than the current craft system, but it wont keep people attention or intrest for long either....and we got a very long ways untill Tribal wars and possibly a PVE mob map (which does sound appealing granted the combat is at least average in quality)

Like many games of its type, its got a lot of potential on paper, but its the basics that are going to prevent this game from really taking off.
