Just started AC and love it!

I'm done with W.O.W. and City of Heroes for a while. Even tried EQ with the old school server but......blah.

I figured id give AC's free two weeks a go and the wife and I loved it! Yeah its graphics are not in the ballpark of wow ect but its still kinda cool. Also I have never played a no class game and im finding it new and new for me and mmo's is THE BOMB.

I made a few characters on frostfell to try it out but im gonna need some help with information. Right now im reading the AC Wiki and looking at the offical site for more but this seems to have a kicking learning curve!

Any clues on where to go for current info? A Guild that likes noobs would be awsome as well if anyone knows of one.

The game is so old school that it im really having fun. Have not been able to say that it a while.

Welcome to IMO easily the best mmorpg ever produced.

There is a good reason why AC is still running now on it's 12th year since release way back in 1999.

While the graphics aren't up to par with todays offerings, the game runs insanely smooth and allows you to get into epic battles with dozens of mobs at the same time.

The main reason why AC is still a gem though is that it still has a truly unique game play style, it has HUNDREDS of lore/quest/game updates that have been added meaning you will literally NEVER run of of something to do.

The only thing really hurting Asheron's Call today is the lack of a big player base. The fun I had in AC back in 1999-2003 when the player base was at it's peak was without a doubt the most fun I've ever had gaming.

Asheron's Call will always hold a soft spot in my gaming heart. It really is a gem (even today) in a sea over crowded with pretty graphics but linear, hand held game play.

Enjoy the game! If you have 1/10th the fun I've had with AC over the years, then you're in for a real treat. ;-)

I don't know how up-to-date it is but Maggie's site was alway great.

I played this game a few years ago.. I beta tested AC... I made sooo many friends..  for over 4 years  we were here.. then someone thought the grass was greener in another game.. and the hunt was on for that newer , fresher, better MMO.. and we never found it..

In this land I helped my Monarch. We built our mansion.. we stood outside it constantly buffing each other and building new armors and weapons.. makin arrows (clap those hands)  and I was actually known as  Allknighter  the bowman/archer

I had many vassals under me...  we hunted explored  died sooo many times and never once!!! did we complain that a "corpse run" was aweful..  it was just hard and on the edge and scary...

We walked in dungeons that had NO maps.. we heard the moans and groans of  whatever was lurkin in the darkness.. would we make it? would we get lost?    which way was the exit portal??? OMG run its  lich's  draining our lives... what the heck am I waiting for !!!!    Frostfell  I may see you soon...  Kwosh   AKA Allknighter

In the past I would have caught this post a lot sooner and responded but many months ago I basically gave up on mmorpg.com all together as the site seems to mostly be a joke to me. I stop by every now and then specifically to check the AC forums and nothing else (I wish for the day Massively.com adds forums).

AC really is a unique game and a lot of fun. Not to start a game war, but purely to use as an example, Rift is not "enjoyable" it is just one task after another and I don't find myself ever stopping and saying "Man this is fun" like I do in AC all of the time.

AC starts right out the gate giving you actually quests with their own dungeons and different goals where as most other games, especially the newest ones, just give you kill/gather/delivery/use tasks non stop (Rift for example is 99% this with 1 dungeon per zone that takes all of 10 minutes to complete).

They just don't make games like this anymore and it is a game that is actually FUN instead of doing things just because there are things to do.

I don't think I'll ever be done with AC unless it actually shuts its doors some day.
