Do you have any details on what you are looking for? Just a warning if you hate WoW or EQ style games then keep moving a long. The game has a lot of differences, but at it's core it falls into that genre.

I like both those games,  I just dont want to fall into another warhammer online game that will fall apart.

    I say buy it,

I'm bought it and am playing it (lvl 40 atm), I thoroughly enjoy this game it has alot of familiarity about it and it just feels right.

I played WoW when it launched and played it for 2 years, I also played EQ2 for 5 years, Rift has alot in common with both games and yet is its own game, artifact hunting (EQ2 shinys) is alot of fun, the dungeons are fun but short so a dungeon run usually takes about 40-75 minutes depending on how familiar players are with it and their own level ofcourse.

Warfronts (Battlegrounds) are easy to get into and also easy to enjoy.

This game is great for the casual player, if you only have 30 minutes you can jump in and do a warfront or chase some rifts or go fight an invasion.

Buy the game, the fun will atleast last you until the next big thing comes along but hopefully you can enjoy the game alot longer than that I know I will be playing this regardless of GW2 or the new Star Wars.

There are several etailers selling Rift for $40 atm, or check eBay.  {I got lucky a found a new copy for $30 yesterday.}  I too am trying not to impulse buy MMO anymore based on hype, and I did enjoy it during the beta periods, but chose to wait awhile after launch.  $30 was too tempting to pass up.

If you like the EQ/WoW style of play then you will love this game, especially if you are bored. I played during beta and didn't like it much. My gf convinced me to buy and play with her and now I've been enjoying it a good amount. I would recommend, again, only if you can have fun with the model that they are using.

If you can get it for $30 then definitely do it. This game is worth at least $30 of entertainment.

And that's why you ask us? There's never been a bigger group of faux-bored MMO connoisseurs than the masses here.

What can I tell you, I'm having a blast with the multiple roles within one archetype. But the detractors will be all over this...in the end, your choice, your $$.

For what it's worth, the Gamespot Critic Score is 8.4 and user scrore is 8.6.

I think you answered your own question in another thread.

"Is it just me or am I the only one that is going to miss all this Rift hype and not play.   I played beta the game is bad and yet its all over everything....  I'm so confused with mmo gamers these days."

I was on same boat as you today.. Was really on the fence with Rift, i actually already canaceled a pre order i had paid off.. But right now theres nothing else to play, i've just been playing Star Craft 2 and twiddleing my thumbs for the past week.. So i caved in today and bought Rift, so far i'am enjoying it.. Good to have a MMO to play again, as EvE was boring the shit out of me (it usually does after i play it a few months straight) and i was getting tired of SC2..

    Worth the $50 :)

LOL another threat asking the same......?

You will get any response..u should know that.....

If you want to make up your mind better read reviews better, they will give you a more objective point of view....but mostly they all liked Rift giving it high scores in all webs and magazines...

For my own experience...it´s worth buying. I´m enjoying a lot ;)

I'd say no, as of now, this is only a PvE game, it has nothing to do with pvp at all, pvp souls/talents are broken like nothing before, i'd say wait or find another game to play, kinda regret i wasted the money on it that i did.

Simply put, It's a great game - just don't buy it now. There is a huge security leak on Trion's end tons of users have lost all their gear, money, bank items, everything due to hacked accounts.

On top of that, there are people that have been waiting for a simple answer  more than 3 days - and can't play the game. Mainly because the fix is a rollback for your character. No point on playing and waiting for the answer or fix, if they rollback you to the state you were once you got hacked. You just lose all the xp, money etc. gained after that.

There's already around 10 guys in my guild who got hacked in last 2 days and some of them already quit Rift for good due to frustration.

So, my advice is not to buy this game YET. Wait for the storm and hacking problem to get fixed, then give the game a chance. It surely deserves it.

    PvP souls broken??

All classes have soul combos that work pretty well in pvp....some souls need some balance true...but only mages have that problem that i know... and Trion said they are already working on it...

    no PvP?

    emmm Am i missing something?

Did you know there are PvP servers?? even Rol Playing PvP servers? There you have open world PvP which is pretty epic when mixed with the dinamic content....

    totally disagree with you

You can dissagree all you want, Pvp in Rift is shit atm, i do have a level 50 mage and im sitting here like , if i want to survive and kill anything i have to be a pyro mage and stand in my ground of strength, if i dont do that, im dead, you might, just might get lucky and live in a warlock / necro soul.

Open pvp, where ? , you might have some pvp in zeraphs return where the dailies are and a few other places but beyond that, everyone is contempt to leave eachother alone and just quest and im like stunned , because i did infact choose a pvp server but everybody is busy grinding t1/t2 experts to death, achieve server firsts and what not, warfronts are shit because of the fact as defiant on Bloodiron i dont do anything but run into the same premade pvp all day long, never meet anyone different, its getting dull, very fast.

The game is not worth its money, hence what he was asking for, there is nothing new or unique in Rift beyond the fact that mages and rogues can be offhealers, soul system ? , pah gimme a break, its the same as talent tree's in WoW, graphics look like Warhammer / AoC , Warfronts ? , Warhammer all over again.

But then again that shouldnt surprise anyone seing as one of the lead developers came from mythic.

Scott Hartsman is the LEAD DESIGNER.  This means that ultimately, he's calling the shots and he knows what he's doing.  He came from EQ.  Adam Gershwitz came from Mythic, but to act like Trion is a Mythic company under a new shell is utterly and completely false.

Oh and Mythic made DaoC, one of the best PvP games of all time; which Adam was a part of too.

World PvP exist.  You just can't power level to 50 because most of the people playing are still leveling.

I hear Briarcliff is basicallly a non-stop war right now.

People are forgetting. There is literally zero negative to dying in pvp. So if you get nuked this is not like Aion where you lose two days worth of work from one death.

You also get favor and xp just not in some grand amount that people want.
