Xsyon is now playable

For all those that were interested in this game and heard nothing but the worst on server stability and lag,  I'm happy to tell you the majority of the issues have been fixed by yesterdays patch.

For the first time since launch (the 15th)  I was able to play lag free for 16 hours.  (not consecutively).   There were 2 patches done yesterday,  the first fixed the majority of the lag,  the second one came with a 10 minute rollback and a server fix to address an item inconsistency issue that was causing some other (minor) lag.

Now that we have one glaring issue out of the way, hopefully the NG can get to work on further performance issues and bringing in some of those features we've been waiting for.

I didnt think that such miracle patches really exist, i thought they were only myths. But it seems that Xsyon proved me wrong.

Agreed..I was shocked they were able to fix it that fast ,with that small crew.

Now lets see what happends when the server come back on.

imo, since they are not offering the free two months deal anymore, it's best to wait for the trial

also, some Xsyon forum posts still sound quite angry, so im assuming they only fixed a small problem and have quite a lot of work ahead of them

I review lots of indie games and MMORPGs

Really, I mean really, pay no mind to most of the posters on the Xyson forums.  The forums used to be quite a nice place where players could interract with each other and share ideas for bettering the game.  That changed about month ago when the game blew up, and now most of the forum, mainly the prelude section is filled with whiners.  It happens of course when a game gets more popular.

But really, I played for about 6 hours last night, and only had a single lag spike for about 2 minutes.  Beyond that, it was awesome.  The dev(s) are working SUPER hard (including weekends, hello Star Vault) to determine the issues and they are actually making progress.

I agree as well, unless you really want to play the game, I would wait until there is a trial, which is probably not far off.  Xsyon has plans to make a trial soon, they know how important trials are.

I can also vouche for the patch, worked to perfection so far for me. Haven't had a single lag spike since. The problems that i've ran into so far is alt tabbing while in full screen mode has a chance of crashing the game, which is a pain but more than fine, and that animals seem to have migrated away for my area and been over hunted.

  • WorstluckWorstluck Member Posts: 1,269

Yep my game will crash sometimes too if I alt tab from fullscreen.  I play in windowed mode now and never crash.  Windowed mode not as a good I guess, but it beats crashing.  I think they know about the bug, it's been around a while, just can't fix it atm due to time constraints.  Will get worked out eventually :)

When something goes wrong, people aren't quick to forgive and forget.  When they advertise the game as ready for launch and start a pre-launch, then people have the right to get pissed when they log in and find 90% of their work is pointless thanks to lag, rollbacks and wipes.  When some of this happens even after release, then they have even more right to get fed up.

The forums might have been a nice place before the shit hit the fan.  But then... well... the shit hit the fan so to speak.  So everyone who was attracted to the pre-launch got a slap in the face with lag and kicked in the balls with the rollbacks.  That's not something people are going to quietly protest.

You can't call someone who lost all their totem location in the mini-rollbacks, character progression (huge FUBAR rollback) and had been unable to play the game of "lag-and-go-seek"  since it launched a "whiner".  The only thing sparing Xsyon from the same lawsuit other devlopers in their shoes have faced has been their willingness to give refunds.

I'm glad to see and hear this. I don't have Xsyon ( yet, but I really want this game to succeed. This reallyis a SANDBOX game. Thank you for the update and this possibly will help me decide if I will get the game :)

Hey man, every signle one of those things happened to me.  You act like somehow I did not experience these things.  There are of course valid complaints, but many of the complaining on the forums is not necessary.  You don't see me posting about how upset I am on the forums about it.  So yes, those people are whiners.  There are ways you can convey your frustration constructively without incessant complaining.

I am in a rather large tribe, we lost our original spot due to rollbacks and griefers.  Did we go to the forums and complain, saying we want refunds?  No.  We adapted.  We continued to help the developers fix the game.

There were many problems over the past year, but the constant complaints did not show up until a month ago, when many players came from "other" games; when the game got popular.  Whenever a game gets popular, it of course brings more people, it also unfortunately brings more "annoying" people.  It's a video game, that you paid $40 bucks for.  Acting like the game deserves a lawsuit because everything did not work out as planned is ridiculous.
