SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Welcome to the second March installment of our continuing series, TERA Tuesday. MMORPG.com has partnered with TERA devs and En Masse to bring you the best TERA screens on the Net. This week's screens dovetail nicely with TERA's recent dev blog about Big Ass Monsters. And these babies are definitely that! Check them out in our Tuesdays With TERA Screenshot Feature and leave us a thought or two in the comments.

They need to start beta in the US soon. I think if they dont, intrest will wane.  Plus, I need a game thats worth my time. Very hard to find now a days, and TERA might not even be it.

To the caterpillar it is the end of the world, to the master, it is a butterfly.

The first "beta" is in two weeks. It's only a community play event that lasts two days but at least betas are starting. My guild got 20 invites for the event.

It looks more awesome every time I see it.

I have been following this game for soooo long. I was following it even before they put up the NA website. I can't wait to actually get a chance to try it out.

    this is an actual screenshot?

It looks realy nice but i think many will be disappointed that their system wont run this at high resolutions tough it think.

the only thing that buggs me about this game is the fact that they use combat animation as a global cooldown and your character is "stuck" in place with every animation......

    besides that it's awesome!

    Seriously?

Ugh, I don't like that at all, reminds me of Aion. There you have to use "creative" mechanics like jump shooting as a ranger to bypass that animation root.

From my play time with the game, that won't be possible.

Actually, my cousin is playing the Korean release and you'd be surprised as to just how smoothly the game plays (much smoother than Rift IMO) and he was only running it on an 8800 GTS. The Unreal 3 Engine is fantastic.

Plain and simply, I was all excited to purchase Rift, when he asked me to stop by and check out TERA. I watched him play the game for awhile and then took over the controls myself. After my session was over, I then proceeded to cancel my Rift CE preorder. There's just no comparison in my book.

Unreal 2 not 3, 3 hasnt releases yet. Anyhow, this is true I played the K release and it runs reduculously smooth. If you are whinning about global cooldowns being the animation times then you will get no sympathy from me, or the rest of the Tera community for that matter. Have you ever played a action game? Its KIND OF the same idea, when I say kind of  I mean exactly.

Not sure what year you are living in but Unreal Engine 3 has been out for quite a few years now.

i care for no fanboy's sympathy.

i will mostly likely play Tera either way, but i do wish the combat was be more "free" feeling then what it is, that's all. getting stuck in animation every single time you use one of your abilities kind of gets annoying after a wile.

I was under the impresssion they would not have dynamic weather or day and night cycles.  The picture at the top looks like rain.

    Oh, you'er right. My apologies.

I wouldnt go as far as calling myself a fanboy, though I probly am. I did pay a 3rd party site to get a K Tera account. If you are really worried about to locked animations you shouldnt be so much, only a few of the classes will lock animation and thats only after you start a train of combos. In fact the Lancers "block" interrupts any attack that you are doing at the time to pull up the shield. As far as I know none of the ranged classes lock animations, its mainly Slayer, Warrior, and Berserker. As I said though its only when you are half-way through a combo, the first few attacks and the last attack you can dodge or block which ever it may be.

I play alot of fighting games and being stuck after an attack animation is something I know all too well, just make sure you make it count everytime, if that's the on real complaint anyone has the game I'm gonna give this a look see.
